Dignity. Respect. Advocacy.
We're Disability Rights Arkansas. We protect and advocate for the civil and legal rights of people with disabilities in Arkansas.
Since 1977, DRA has been the designated protection and advocacy (P&A) organization for people with disabilities in Arkansas. We are not a department or agency of any state, local, or federal government. DRA is an independent, private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for and protecting the rights of people with disabilities.
Our mission is to vigorously advocate for and enforce the legal rights of people with disabilities.
We envision an Arkansas where people with disabilities are equal members in their communities and can dictate the course of their own lives through self-determination.
DRA treats all people with dignity, respect, and compassion.

[It's the Little Things: A Conversation about Accessibility Annoyances]
In this episode, we dive into the shared yet unique experiences of navigating life with disabilities. While our individual journeys differ in onset and nature, we all agree on one thing: life is never boring. From the amusing to the absurd, we unpack the well-meaning but misguided comments, awkward encounters, and everyday frustrations that come with living in a world that doesn’t always get it. Join us as we share personal stories, reflect on these "little things," and prove that a sense of humor isn’t just helpful-it’s essential.

Can I be the person who pays the people who take care of my daughter? Her waver provider is awful at keeping g her staffed
Hi there, please visit: disabilityrightsar.org/how-to-get-help/ and our Intake Advocate will reach out to you.
Thst CHILD THREATEN TO HAVE SOMEONE ELSE K!LL HIM. SO WHERE IS THE OFFICER PROTECTION. THAT CHILD WAS TOO VIOLENT TO BE IN A " NORMAL" FACILITY. TRUTH. 😊
If a staff member at Mill Creek did this, then they would have been arrested, charged, and would have to do time.
He was mocking the child and acting like a child himself and saying he doesn’t even know his dad!?? Very disturbing and disrespectful as an adult!!! Should definitely be fired!!!
Oh you haven't seen shit that happens all the time in that little town the whole police, chef, sheriff, parole officers and jail should be investigated. Please somebody help this community.
You have no idea at the monstrosity of corruption within the city police department the sheriff's department and the privately owned jail in the county. Brain damage I have been violently attacked by the same Police department as well when I was in handcuffs
As much as yall don’t want to hear this, non lethal force is granted to police if a detainee is not being compliant. I think the biggest issue is there needs to be a separate division of law enforcement within Milcreek’s employment that handles these kids AS SOON as they are detained by police and searched. Those kids are in those facilities for a reason-people don’t know how to handle them. Cop went too far, but no need to fire him for doing his job. He just didn’t handle it well. Not worthy of being fired and sent to jail over tho lol the kid is physically fine and he may not try and run away again.
You can not hit a handcuffed person. At that time they are not considered a threat. This handcuffed child posed no threat to this police officer. This, this is considered excessive force.
This police officer violated this person's civil rights and by hitting a restrained individual used excessive force and there for subject themselves to both criminal charges (losing their qualified immunity) and could face civil charges.
As a disability advocate… The stuff’s gotta be seen. Thank you for being bold enough to do this… And not disguise the officer’s voice.
That cop should be in jail for a long time.
This is misleading content, aimed to make you feel what it delivers. There is no winner in this situation, otherwise we just argue. 👎👎👎👎
I mean it does plain as day show a problem kids 15 cuffed in the back of a cop car getting punched and threatened i think a lot of people forget its not a crime to be an ass hole
wtf
That gd cop needs to lose his job and get his ass sued. Scumbag
Thugs
Lawsuit , fired and jailed , that's child abuse.
That's bullshit 😡😡😡😡😡 Ya Lawsuit 😮😮😮😮😮😮
Lawsuit
This is so heartbreaking but also hopeful. Thank you for your courage in sharing your story. I'm so sorry you went through this. 😢 Your bravery is priceless and I admire you for it. Much love and hugs to you and yours. 🙏🏻
Artists skipped this place and returned a picture of paintings. Krupps coffee is in space with cafeterias and plenty of or or or or or or, fraud, rude things...thorns..
Dictionary v Thesaurus A dictionary has a word on top, and the riding underneath goes on to use words found in a Thesaurus -in order to- make way for a point to be understandable. Hearing the Language is our Disability here. It gets horded away between the lines and returns only after it's refused to the descriptors. In other words, this is all new to the lot. And if it's new to the lot its too late for policy writers who haven't yet appeared. That left jobs here and the place is just east of an Eagle bearing coin.

David good idea. For independence
The discrimination against people with disabilities today is terrible
We agree! Which is why vigorously advocate for and enforce the legal rights of people with disabilities. Want to learn more about us? Have questions? Visit us: disabilityrightsar.org/
Individuals with profound autism need higher supervision in day programs to benefit from them. If not, they are left sitting, stimming, wanting to leave. Yet, day programs can say we only have 1:10 cuz that’s all that’s required and they cannot afford more staff. So, what can we do about this. Can waiver pay for a personal care attendant on the waiver to attend a day program with the individual so they can actually participate? I’m looking for answers from you because I’ve already tried many other avenues.
Hi there, please visit: disabilityrightsar.org/how-to-get-help/ and our Intake Advocate will reach out to you.
How are day programs in AR getting away with using waiver funding if they are not integrating them into the community. All some do is keep them in the building doing occasional art activities
Where can i get help with a lawyer for someone being given guardianship over my son. I was not even told anything about it. A cop came n told my sister to give me papers that said another person now had guardianship of my child. Also in these documents from court It plainly states the school violated my privacy rights by telling her what i said and expressed during my childs IEP MEETING. Things are grossly exaggerated and fabricated throughout the entirety of the documents I received

Has the ADA ever been used to make Com's Make them give verbal explanations to people like myself? I have been highly Dyslexic & the 2nnd worse ADHD paitianant he has ever tested. These mental health problems are very difficult for me to get people to communicate orally, Medical conversation is nonexistent. I don't know what to do, They won't listen or take the time to explain. More times than not, I'm not given any needed information about my health. And rushed out the door. CAN THE Ada be used without a high cost to me?

Why is there not more emphasis on this topic ? The ADA was created to combat this. How are systematic issues like this still occuring
Great episode! Always good to see Tanner and Shannon. Good work Kerri, Ally and Tom!
We need an ADA Attorney in Ark. for a breed restricted ADA service dog as we were denied lodging in Murfreesboro Ark. because of the breed of our service dog and their requirement for "papers in which ADA has no requirement for. Can you help us?
