At the sources of jazz, in fact at the sources of the bulk of Western popular music declined in all the negotiable styles of desire that the dominant industry exploits, there are barefoot rebels. Who appropriated the instruments that their oppressors were willing to abandon to them throughout the centuries... have broken the shackles of the authorized formality since in any case banned by law from the system of conservatories certified unique and admissible... and chaos have managed to draw their own structuring, today adored by good-thinking: "jazz" term that meant the procreative act in U.S. slang... eternal drum of freedoms, some argue that this chaotic phase will be painful or boring, but it is still necessary to symbolize it to move towards a new formal reconciliation. Taylor wanted to revive this seminal and hated moment, carrying all the destabilizations, irritations and potential dangers...
La prueba de que la Humanidad tiene esperanza
Can anyone identify the music that is in the intro?

William Parker really loves that open G it's like fifty per cent of all the notes he plays here.
Incommensurabile Jimmy ,Grande Cecil . Quando la melodia diventa il VERO.
Oh my gosh, what an assembly of great, great musicians, thank you so much
Nice trumpeter.
George Lewis on trombone!?
sadly he's only in the intro sequence
Amazing !!!
was Rashid Bakr dressed as Santa Claus?
What an exciting performance! Lots of beautiful moments.
i remember that this concert was video taped by the french radio and television with a much better sound, though recording engineers were very helpless about our constant moving and no one knew when there was a solo to be taken, we k ind of felt it out when it was our term to blow in a collective or in a solo situation , 33 years ago.............this TV kind of filming is terrible, we were a real collective by then and anyone with some sense should have filmed it to see action and re-action, but this is the way azz has been filmed by people who do not film and feel. anyway, i am glad these tapes exist to remember and dig ,hundred stars,cecil.......
OK, with you on those aspects Gunter. The beauty of your collective excellence, however, far surpasses the flawed technology. 30+ years later we're truly fortunate to have documentation of the gig.
Thank you Andre for posting this. I heard the lineup that included Frank Wright, the following year at Kimball's in San Francisco. You all blew us away! And the Orchestra of Two Continents album was one for the ages, absolutely ferocious. Huge gratitude.
Tomasz Stanko from Poland - those days third continent. Then and today( april 2017 ) one of the world best trumpeter ever.
The most stylized and smooth dance of this genre ever!

Wow, what a lineup, great rare footage, especially enjoyable with Frank Wright. Everyone check out Ebba Jahn's film "Rising Tones Cross" which includes many great incredible lineup's as well.

beautiful--incredible line-up--beautiful chorus of sounds with Cecil. Karen Borca sounds great. great to hear Jimmy Lyons with her & to see them together. dynamic celebration.
who's the singer?
Brenda Bakr, very talented.
I heard the similar musician configuration in '84 at Kimball's in San Francisco with Frank Wright on tenor, and minus Ms Bakr and the dancers. Much gratitude for the exhilarating music then and now. Thank you for posting this.
This is mind-blowingly great! If only a better audio feed was available. Thanks for posting, important footage!
Great to hear from you Leon! I am happy to hear you are still dancing!
Thank you and Leon both for your artisty!
I'm sitting here AWESTRUCK by the CHEMISTRY between Mickey and myself......DAAAAYUMMMM.....!!! That was a choreographed improvisation in the style and tradition of Dianne McIntyre (Sounds In Motion, Founder/Choreographer) who we both danced for.
Cool as shit !! Totally rad !!!
The male dancer with the afro is ME!!! I'm AMAZED!!! Seeing this 30 yrs. later.....WOW!!! I'm still dancing and choreographing. I now have an all male liturgical dance ensemble....The Root of David dancers. Visit: www.leonvonbrown.org Thank you Andres!!!!
