Shiloh Homestead
Приєднався 8 січ 2017
These are videos of our life here at Shiloh Homestead. We raise dairy goats, and chickens for milk, meat and eggs. We have raised pigs in the past and currently are starting to raise ducks and turkeys. I make and sell goats milk soap. And we are learning to become more self-sustaining and prepped for any disruption to our supplies. The videos will hopefully improve, but I hope you enjoy them!

Continued Work on Hoop House.
Переглядів 172 місяці тому
I started work on a hoop house quite awhile ago and then a number of things halted that work. I am now back to work on the hoop house. This is just one short look at what I was doing today. There will be more videos to come until it is finished. the goal is to be ready for a fall planting in it.

Just a brief garden tour of some of what we are growing this year. Weather put us abit behind the usual growing season but things are starting to pick up now.

We had one little goat doe born this year and found that her mom could not let down milk. We ended up bottle feeding her with milk replacer. Sage is doing fine now and growing well, as you see in the video.

Gute Idee, ich benutze ein altes Bügeleisen.
Will they get hot and melt the plastic if left on for a while?
What's not to love with shotgun shell Christmas lights?? Now to go try to make some.
How was the ending? I couldnt make it all the way through, seemed to be over as soon as they were fumbling with stuffing the light and folding the end over. It seriously looked painful and I'm surprised they figured out how to upload that POS.
Our channel probably isn't for someone as sensitive as you, bless your heart. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and God Bless You!
@@shilohhomestead8517 some people are as ass hats and they don't even know it lol
Good job, 👍👍👍
Good job, you guys have a lots of weeds.
Yes, we were away for a week and they got a good start and are doing well. Even if the vegetables don't do well in this high heat and lack of water, the weeds still do well.
I do hate weeds
Live goat milk, I use to do this a lot growing up
that's awesome
nice job guys
nice video

they are so cute
i love your energy, keep it up
Nice job, you guys are awesome 😎
Thanks for the compliment. I just finished a chicken tractor along the same lines on Saturday since I saw you at the market Friday. Thank you for your continued support.
Always, I just hope more people subscribe to you and see what you do. It’s super interesting
Waw, that’s super nice 👍. Good job 👍

Thanks! :)
Funny
I love the place 👍
Very fun video 🥰🤣😅
Good job on the goat 🐐 cheese 🧀.
that's a useful kid
He did stick at it for quite a while. He is usually a big help around the homestead, whether putting hay away or cleaning stalls, or most anything we ask him to do.
Do you ever split the post to make fence staves? Thank you.
So far I have only used them as upright fence posts. I did split a black locust log once and as I remember it wasn't too difficult to split, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Might be good as a spreader for an H support in corners of fences.
the larger logs were often split for fence posts too. you need a fairly straight grained log for splitting. i spent the summer cutting some beautiful straight locust. about half are perfect split-rail size. I've got some in the ground on the farm 20 years now.
Chain smoker alert. Good video.
black locust is quite hard on the chain. I sharpen the chain before each use, but it doesn't take long for the edge to be taken off.
@@shilohhomestead8517 It happens to me with hedge too.
Thanks for the video! I'm surprised no one else mentioned the safety hazard of aiming a drill bit at your hand (a little after 3:00 in). You never know when your tool or hand could slip. Always hold the object securely in a vise or against the table/steady work surface and aim your bit or blade down & away from you (and others). Easier to film the process looking over your work, also.😉 Hopefully you have a workbench or better set-up by now but thought I'd point that out for future viewers.
"Never use your hand for a vise,or hammer."...small drill into hand hurts ,ask how i know.
Is that osha
Might want to sharpen that chainsaw chain.
Black Locust is also supposed to make good staves for making traditional archery bows. Couldn't help noticing that chainsaw wants a $3 file.
It does make a pretty good bow stave although I haven't made a bow from one yet. I have made bows from other woods, ash, ironwood etc. The chain was sharpened just before use, black locust is hard on the teeth after a few minutes of running it.
very nice thanks for sharing I have been wondering what I could do with mine now I know
Hi, I’ve just tried to separate them & had melted plastic left in the metal part. How do I get them clean out? Is it cause I’m leaving them in the pan too long? X
When I had that problem, I would use my needle nose pliers when the plastic was still warmish and just keep taking it out a piece at a time. Sometimes you gotta dig it out! Lol
what i do is put it on top the wood stove for a little bit and just put a leather glove on one hand and rip the plastic off, i don’t find it that hot so i don’t see a need for pliers but that could vary among the individual shell and person
You do really nice work, thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you!
Please excuse my ignorance, I'm not a hunter, but I want to make this for a friend of mine. Are these made using spent shells, or did you empty new ones to make this?
They are made with spent shells, that is the safe way. We use enough and lots of friends who shoot also give us their spent shells! :) you could ask at a target range, if you have one near you, for spent shells.
You can also purchase expended rounds in craft sites
What scissors are you using to cut the metal?
I cant find them right now, but if I remember right they are fiskars and made of titanium. :)
Wow, loved this walk through your property.
Beautiful animals, and what a nice yield from your garden! Nicely done video.
Thank you!
Imagine. That is the breastfeeding from a goat.
Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video now I am inspired to try to make it, great job making the video
You're so welcome Floyd! You can make this easy peasy I'm sure! :)
So cute, thanks for sharing!
Very nicely done, Ramona. He is a handsome buckling.
The kids did a great job making their walnut boats! There's no place like the country to grow up and explore.
Thanks! I completely agree!!
Thanks for the tip on adding essential oils to the sanitizer. I made my own sanitizer, too, so now I'm going to add some tea tree oil...love the smell of it.
Beautiful goats. I love that little baby 🐐! That’s a good amount of milk you got!
Thank you! Dahlias always been an easy milker and gives a lot of milk!! Milo is our second baby of the season (the first one didnt make it) and we still have 3 more does to kid!
So glad stumble is doing better, thanks for sharing with us. They are adorable. They grow do quickly. Love the names. Blessings friends
