What heck happened. The drill was a bit crap. I blame the army itself for making the guards part of the crappy drill. I'm glad some of the guards ingore it and they would like to show smarter and sharper drill for themselves. I would say that the company sergeant major of the guards aka wo2 have the Smartest and sharpest drill same the wo1 and the drum majors of the guard with the swinging arms only.

Lived in Nepal for two years and had the honor of attending several days of selection events for the Gurkhas. Much of the revenue into Nepal are from Nepalese serving in the British Army and Singapore Police Forces. While attending the selection process, I had a nice conversation with a British Officer. Being a military retiree I was curious as to rank structure, career opportunities etc. The one thing I took away was the highest rank a Gurkha could achieve in the British Army was that of a Warrant Officer. This was around 2008-2010 so perhaps things have changed but bottom line, the British Gurkhas would always have British Officers as Commanders.

I used to think these uniforms were pathetic as a child. Now i think they're actually pretty drip.

They must be very proud to wear that uniform, I felt proud watching them
