Fairburn Agate Finds! A once in a lifetime hunt at Indian Creek! #rockhounding #agate #fairburn
A group of friends and I decided to hike on a muddy day at Indian Creek during some rain, and then again the following day in some much nicer conditions!
We all found spectacular Fairburn Agates in the rain and then found some other cool stones the following day before returning home. Truly a once in a lifetime hunt with multiple awesome Fairburns found. Come along as we discover these precious gemstones… an occurrence that probably won’t repeat itself for awhile on my rockhounding journey.

Teepee Canyon Tailings! Digging some of my favorite agates from the Black Hills with @EvanLudes!
Переглядів 890Місяць тому
I recently took advantage of a beautiful, mid-November day to do some rockhounding in the Black Hills National Forest to the west of Custer, South Dakota. This was a spur of the moment decision after texting with my buddy Evan from @EvanLudes during a 5-day trip out west. We decided to go to a new location he had discovered for some of our favorite agates! Looking for beautiful Teepee Canyon Ag...

I recently took advantage of a beautiful, mid-November day to do some rockhounding in Northwest Nebraska’s Oglala National Grassland. This was the first of several locations in Nebraska and South Dakota I visited during a 5-day trip out west. Looking for legendary Fairburn Agates and Nebraska blue chalcedony, as well as a handful of other types of agates, jasper, and petrified wood! It was an a...

Stunning, jaw-dropping finds. Literally on my Bucket list before I croak. 😆
What a great place to rockhound good on you!
It’s a great place to find some really cool stuff!
Awesome… might get a flat lap real soon!
I've got some videos on the flat lap coming up soon!
@ nice
It was really fun going from "I guess I'm the only one going home empty-handed" to "what are the odds all of us would find a legit fairburn?!" in a matter of minutes.
You totally manifested my find too lol. What a day, need to get out your way and hang out again soon my friend!
Great finds! I enjoy agate hunting in damp weather, makes them pop out much easier.
Definitely a fan of hunting in the rain after this experience! Thanks for watching!
WE ENJOYED / ENJOY THE VIDEO!!!
Thanks for watching!
Ooo.. large coral, fairburns, shell fossil... All great.💗
@@SRLGemstone thanks! The diversity out in that area is awesome!
@@CedarStoneCreations I'm sure it is.
That is beautiful material to work with. I was shocked at the finish with the high polish and matte finish of the different materials in the stone. I think it added an extra interest to the cabs Very pretty!
Definitely cool stuff, I should probably finish the remainder of the pieces I have 😅
Lovely color!😊
Thanks! The color was really what caught my eye.
Really nice color and patterns.😊
It definitely is a nice one!
Amazing video!! Thanks for sharing!! I just subscribed to your channel!! Greetings from Greece!!
Thanks for the sub! Appreciate the kind words!
Can't wait to see more on your cabochon making. Liked the ends the best.😊
@@MadelineRose-ep7fj thanks, ill have a couple cabbing videos coming soon! Keep an eye out.
Yep those Fairburns are something else!
I’m still suffering from the sinus infection I got on this trip. The rocks were worth it though!
@@nickhauser3390 I feel like you are like me a couple years ago, haven’t had any issues since I had the surgery for it!
I agree with you on the red! Fantastic colors. You did some great work on polishing! Love your cabs too!
Thanks for the kind words! It’s taken me a long time to get okay at it, still have a lot to learn haha.
@@CedarStoneCreations I have been wire wrapping since the late 80s and I finally came to the conclusion I could probably make my own cabs. Let the learning process start with finding the rocks first hehehe.
Wow Nebraska Blue is one of my favorites, but the Jaspagate blew the sun out of the sky! The lace agate is just beautiful! Love the colors in it. The last one did not disappoint and that is a sunset jasper! Beautiful. Yep Nebraska is on the very much must visit list now! Thank you for sharing such wonderful videos of rockhounding Nebraska!
Glad you liked the finds! There's some really great stuff out there. I plan to visit again soon when we melt our snow cover up here.
@@CedarStoneCreations I live in KY and if you want rocks with color you have to leave the state, just about it. We have a lot of Geodes, farmers hate them and pile them up because they break their disc. So I am planning a trip out west to find the pretty ones lol.
Beaitiful country you have there!
OK, Now you have made me add Nebraska to the must visit list! That list for out west has gotten huge lol. I may have to spend 6 months on the road to hit them all lol. Glad I am retired!
Definitely an underrated little part of the world up there in the panhandle!
@@CedarStoneCreations it is like a hidden treasure!
Wow! Loved the purple jasper, you really revealed some amazing rocks! So pretty! Great job on the Pendant!
Thanks! I have yet to cut that super purple one. Just found it in one of my buckets while looking for something else!
@@CedarStoneCreations Would make a great video!
I love that you included this! Looked like a neat potato on the outside and a rotten one on the inside. Call it a petrified potato and you got something there lol. Love your videos.
I was so sure it might be pretty cool but no dice… decided to include it because not every single rock can be amazing.
The crazinest and insanity of this one wins the prize! Amazing beauty!
Definitely a nice one! I plan to do a video just cutting and cabbing some Nebraska blue in the near future.
@@CedarStoneCreations I would really enjoy watching that!
NO Way! Oh my gosh that is absolutely the most beautiul Agate ever!
Definitely a nice one and not many clues on the outside.
I love the contrast in this stone! Amazing!
Thanks for watching.
@@CedarStoneCreations I binged part of your videos, got a lot of catching up to do and I am enjoying it!
First time I have seen a condor agate! And you are right they are stunning!
Yeah those are really something! Glad you liked the video! Condors are a new favorite for me!
Jasper is so colorful!
I love the dark ones I like wire wrapping cabs with pockets like that in them.
Definitely a good wire wrapping candidate!
ohhh Blue and Red so pretty!
These can be pretty mixed but the ones that have this dark host with the red windows always seem to be nice!
@@CedarStoneCreations I love red! and Orange and yellow lol
I think this was one of my favorites!
Definitely a cool stone!
I can understand why people so want the Fairburn Agates! So beautiful! Really enjoyed your video and looking forward to checking out your other videos and waiting for future ones.
@@patriciabock4299 thanks for watching! They are definitely coveted for a reason! That and the truly good ones are pretty hard to find these days. Hoping to have a couple more lapidary episodes up in the coming weeks while it’s cold here.
Great finds! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! There is definitely some cool stuff out there.
Lots of stones with very beautiful patterns✨✨✨
Thanks! There is some beautiful stuff to be found out there for sure.
Looks like a great trip! 😊
It was a great time, now it’s all covered with snow so we will have to get creative for the next couple videos haha.
@ you can always show us a video of you cutting and polishing them😂
@@soul_adventurist it’s like you know my plan Cheryl! Lol
@@CedarStoneCreations I know a wintering rockhound or three🤣
Very cool rocks!
Thanks Tina!
I can’t wait to watch this but I have to wait till I get home so Kim can watch it with me, otherwise she’ll be mad😂
Hope you enjoy my friend!
@ heck yeah! Very nice finds! We like going to Indian Creek, very neat place. Thanks for sharing!
I want to explore a lot more of the little side canyons in there… very scenic and not nearly traveled as much.
@ we will have to meet there sometime. We can jump in the ranger and get further back in there, we miss it already, gonna be a long winter😑
I like the sound of that! I have some stuff to work on to get me through until it warms up a bit atleast.
beautiful!
Thanks! I'm still in awe over how the rainy day played out.
Looks like a cool little shop! Love the fossils and knowing his kid found them makes it that much sweeter! 😊
Thanks Cheryl! Definitely a cool little spot, going to drop in whenever I’m out that way.
Dude! That jasper after the Nebraska blues is friggin sweet!
Honestly it doesn’t feel real that it came from Nebraska… almost looks like a Turkish agate to me haha. Definitely wanting to go back sometime soon and poke around for more.
@ it’s truly an amazing piece! My favorite colors!
The lakers are fantastic but that first agate you pulled out of the bag-wow! 😮🤯❤
Yeah that big Crowley Ridge is a stunner for sure!
@ yes it is! Makes mine look tiny😂
@ I didn’t even have to give much for this one, check out ‘Agates For Sale’ on Facebook sometime.
Nice lil agate! ❤
Those nodules can be pretty hard to find, so I was pretty happy with it! A lot of times they are fractured or pretty beat up!
Great video! The teepee canyon agates were very nice. I absolutely love all those huge jaspers you cut, too. Couldn’t help but notice you have a sticker on your water cup. Is that a sticker for your channel?
Hey Soul, sure is! I had a bunch of them so there are a few stuck to things in my shop. I have a toddler that’s obsessed with putting stickers on stuff.
@ kids are great like that! 😊
@@soul_adventurist indeed! If it fits and she can reach it chances are it has a sticker on it 🤣
Some kind of conglomerate would be my guess. Sure is beautiful 😊
Personally, I’m wondering about coprolite.
@ ohh, it could be!
@@CedarStoneCreations. I was also going to say that but you beet me to it
Yeah it definitely looks similar to some other examples out there.
Some nice finds! We love going to the Teepee Canyon area, such beautiful material, really enjoyed the pendant, thanks for sharing!
Thanks! This is kinda my first time trying some places more off the beaten path in that area!
Some great Finds there Dude, and your cutting/slabbing/polishing skills get better & better in each video... NICE!
Thanks John! I appreciate the kind words, I think it mostly repetitive persistence from making these videos haha, I still have good days and bad ones but I definitely feel like I’m making better things lately. Happy holidays my friend!
Awesome video! I have an ALL new respect for fellow youtubers after creating my own channel this last week. ALL that hard work that goes into making the content. Thanks for sharing and Happy Hounding Holidays!
It is definitely a lot of work Arlenela, but I really enjoy sharing with people and documenting these things as memories for myself. Thanks for watching, I’ll have to check your channel out.
@@CedarStoneCreations Yes I find it so much fun to share too! I just love it and the feedback is awesome I should have done this years ago LOL Not much on mine yet just getting toes wet in editing software, but I get the hang of it sooner or later. Happy Hounding Holidays!
Happy holidays to you too!
@@CedarStoneCreations Thank you!
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks!
Nice find but your mucis too loud. Can't hear you
Thanks for letting me know, I’ll have to work on that for next time!
It’s a wonderful piece and even looks better in person!
@@nickhauser3390 you’re probably the only other person who has seen it so far!
Very interesting and wow! ❤
Thanks Cheryl! We don’t find a ton of those here so it’s kind of a cool one!
I forgot about that one. It was indeed crazy!
