Finding and Connecting with Your Tribe to Reinforce Recovery with Kolby Burdett
Kolby Burdett joins Casey Scott and Dr. Matt Woolley to talk about his experience with trying alcohol at a young age, how unlimited access to alcohol in high school built the framework for substance abuse, and why becoming a dad at 18 years old pushed him into addiction.
Then Kolby talks about realizing that he had a problem with drinking at 21 despite appearing like he was living the perfect life from the outside.
We also dive into Kolby’s rock bottom, the moment he knew that he was broken and needed to seek treatment, and finding success with Action Recovery in Ogden.

    What an inspirational message of Hope. Been clean 9 years. Went to AA meetings at the start of my recovery along with CA and NA. I found my home in NA and never looked back. So grateful to the AA fellowship for welcoming me and sharing their recovery with me. WDR

    This is huge. This made me cry. My dad is Def an alcoholic but never thought he was. Getd wasted on the weekends, family time, holidays, and drinks wine with every meal bla bla. When I went to rehab for heroin and we had to have "family day" they sat us face to face in front of everyone. I asked him if he would stop drinking bc it was such a trigger. He said no. I don't have a problem. Got mad and walked out.

      @@danielhicks6406false, his heart was still beating. Another junky isn’t doing cpr. She probably administered narcan and threw water on him. They always throw water on them for some reason

    • @dkmike2299
      @dkmike2299 Місяць тому

      @@Skrillon yeah I understand what you’re saying but I also understand why people might not have sympathy or empathy for an addict or “junkie” and I will never fault them for it. I was an addict for 10 years, have been sober a little over 4 years now and have two brothers who are also struggling with addiction. As an addict I screwed all my relationships with friends and family, I manipulated people, I stole, I used people for selfish reasons. I’m ashamed of it but also can admit I was a complete pos who deserved no sympathy from anyone especially from people who tried over and over and over going out of their way to help when they had every reason not to. Friends and families go through absolute hell and back over and over because of others addictions and are often trying harder to help us than we are ourselves. And it doesn’t even have to be someone you know, I think about the people I didn’t know that I did wrong, like an innocent family who I stole from. Why should I expect them to give me or any addict sympathy? So while I accept peoples help and am grateful when people can sympathize and be empathetic, I also never expect anyone to do so, and completely understand if they aren’t, cause I only have to take a half a second to think about the many people that i have done wrong. That said, I do thank the people who didn’t give up on me and still saw me as a person, cause they’re the reason I’m still here today and I don’t focus on the past but don’t forget it either because I learn from it.

    Dry drunk is AA nonsense and devalues the sobriety attained by those of us who didn't buy into AA. I've been sober 10 years without AA and I'm not a dry drunk or any other kind of drunk. I'm free. I'm free from alcohol AND meetings lol. Man they hate that though. You get sober physically then mentally then spiritually. Just a heads up... you'll relapse in the reverse order. Your heart gets wrong, then your mind, then your body when you relapse. Life sucks kids. But man I promise you IT SUCKS BETTER SOBER

    Does anybody ever think about how there's actually a cure for heroin addicts. It makes them never want to touch heroin again. And it's in most countries but America won't allow it. Isn't that shady? Why wouldn't we do anything to help these people get their lives back.. and it's one shot. Super cheap. There's no reason why we should invest in saving people. And they'll literally never touch her again for the rest of their lives.
