    Greetings Dear One, When you first noticed that something was wrong with your flight, you should have engaged auto rotate while low to the deck, you don't need high altitude for an auto-rot with an R/C Helo, also had you either engaged auto-rot or chopped to flight idle this would have disengaged torque from the transmission to the head thus you don't need tail rotor authority as theirs no torque from the head. Means zero anti-torque from tail rotor same as in real helo, she would not have spun out of control their would of been some slow rotational force as the torque subsides, though would not be out of control unlike you experienced due to your basic lack of knowledge, underpinning knowledge, basic understanding of how rotary winged craft actually works And No One is not dissing you or putting you down you would be amazed how many R/C Helo Pilots do not know nor understand the flight dynamics of an Rotary winged craft. Your first mistake when you first notice an anomaly you should have landed to run full flight diagnostics, though did not. Second mistake rolling power on pointless waste of fuel to gain Altitude, instead chop to flight idle this disengages positive drive to the head she's now a windmill don't need tail authority as theirs no torque reaction from the head, nothing to counteract Newtons 1st through 3rd laws of motion. Instead You kept rolling the power on this is where you should have chop throttles to flight idle. Because you maintained powered flight, You induced what is now as an zero survivability situation a full size helo would have spun its self to bits as the centrifugal forces exceed the fuselage design g loadings in the real helo you chop to flight idle and glide as best you can it ain't pretty, though any crash you can walk away from is a controlled landing. You will not recover a helo from loss of tail rotor authority for what ever reason could be: Rear transmission failure, She spits her dummy out swiftly followed by a tail rotor following the dummy NOT GOOD! (This is a zero survivable situation at any Altitude! she will spin uncontrolled on the deck she will suffer an identity crisis and make like she's Thunderbird 6 winding herself into the deck! due to torque from the powered head.) Tail assembly folds in high g load turns, Loss of hydraulic Assists smacking the tail section on the deck due to incorrect attitude during bleed off speed in fore flight and several others that occurs in real life incidents, some are highly amusing especially when the pilot shows off at an air meet and miscalculates delta t and reduced flight envelope due to high altitude landing T/O area and belly flops their $23,500 million dollar military hardware into the had deck he ain't getting his wings any time soon well not for flying anyway. Had you chopped throttles to flight idle you could have recovered in a power out landing just as you would in a real helo, the popular misconception is you got to have altitude and you need power to maintain control both accounts are wrong and prove deadly in real flight and ugly in R/C Flight, the most dangerous times of any flight fixed or rotary winged craft is T/O and Landing, this is why you will often see helo pilot civilian or military in peace time they will take off in to a hover or hover-taxi and check response ascending to given exit altitude and some will fly backward as they T/O around 50 mph ground speed this is usually sufficient to show if anomaly's present during T/O. in a real helo you need altitude for two reasons 1st bleed of speed and any torque induced response, second Altitude gives pilot time to think, look for safe Emergency landing zone that pilot would have already assigned during approach or during the initial T/O, it is good practice to follow these rules even with an Replica R/C Helo it gives a more authentic for filing, rewarding flight and more enjoyable. Even when the twirly thing on to stops spinning "Oh Hum!" steep learning curve approaching at max warp! The short pic of your Helo at end she doesn't look that bad externally, though usually the internal ply / Bolsa wood frames usually take a hammering in such events, though is repairable. If your not used to flying scale replicas they handle differently to the usual pod boom standard lay out that you get and the aerodynamics of the fuselage changes flight characteristics when you put a scale body on her, her flight characteristics will change some what be prepared for this, treat as real helo research how real life rotary winged pilots handle these situations, they all have their way of doing. though they all start the same at ground school. you will find that learning about the aerodynamics of the blades, fuselage, powered / unpowered flight how the helo will respond to and react to... When you take off, do you suddenly leap into the air or do you slowly rise like a real helo does? when you do it slow you tend to experience things more acutely, your brain remembers that at this point of stick throw the helo will pull or yawl according to main blade rotation as viewed from above rotor mast. clockwise pulls left, when light on skids or landing gear, its counter clockwise. And will usually have a slight tilt in that orientation to, which when not expecting or not aware of such makes for an entertaining T/O! One hopes this helps you remember about Torque induced flight anomaly's. remember if she acts wired does odd thing... "CHOP to FLIGHT IDLE and LAND!" IS SAFER AND LESS EXPENSIVE. Blessings Love and Light Namaste

      Man!!!😴

    • @alex0baker
      @alex0baker 4 дні тому

      Greetings Dear One, Yes, suffering a splash is disheartening, especially when it's a scale body that we may have spent thousands of dollars on, like the Airwolf kit from VARIO Germany. Or hundreds of dollars on from a US supplier. That said, it would be best to remove your scale body until you get used to how the mechanics perform, as you know. Not all RC Helo's respond the same. It is good practice to remove body and weight the helo down with same weight as the body an check the C of G and put it in same place with the weight on the helo to see how it performs and any unusual behaviour, Once you have become used to this (it will take a few months don't rush) then when you are competent not confident thats ya ego ignore it or no sooner are you up, you’ll splash again over confidence does that to ya! Take your time get to know her niggles it pays for its self this way, and when you do fly with the scale body on also consider fitting the correct scale flybarless head with the correct scale blade when you do you will understand, you will understand why One is saying all this A little about One's flights: One used to fly a couple of years back. Ones Hanger: Align T-Rex 800E 3d Pro DFC Flight status: Splashed @70mph+ inverted into harddeck she bounced suffered an identity crisis thought she is Thunderbird 6 and wound herself into the dirt, "Oh Dear😂 distroyed the carbon fibre torque tube and drive😂 The 200A ESC went through rotor disc it's U/S 😂 1 of the 3 Main Servos which are Align 980 and had Alloy Servo horns to swash, Direct Flight Control the battery pack suffered the same fait😂 The Giro was lost somewhere across the field. we couldn't find it in the 100-foot radius from inpact it is likely it went through the disc and was thrown across the field😂 Main rotors 80cm SAB 3d compertion blades carbon kevlar mix shattered and wrapped around the mast as did the safety steel wire that runs the leng of blade to stop it spitting out on impacts or in the event of failure, head speed was around 1650 to 1700 rpm instead of the usual 1900rpm, this just increased flight duration the compertion motor rated at 11shp 14.3shp at peak power she sits in the box One brough her home in😂😂😂 SAB Goblin 700E KSE Tri-blade Compertion spec with a hand wound 16shp motor, BK ultra servos SAB Compertion 3d Carbon Kevlar main and tail blades. Flight status: Splashed after argument with shrub😂 During ultra, low-level manoeuvre blades strike😂 looked like tuffed of grass until we looked at it and found it was more like a small tree,with thick limbs head speed was 2,300 rpm This sheared the pitch control rods, which was standard nylon on to metal rods instead of the full titanium links and alloy Servo arms.the pitch links are the weak link snap on impact the blade that hit the main stem of shrub like tree split blade in two😂 did not shatter or wrap around head😂 She is One's pride and Joy named after a close female friend Mistress and yes they was annoyed with One for ill treating flight and said "STOP WAISTING MONEY!"😂😂😂 HAD one invested in the Vario body for 800 that would have made wallet cry and the bank ballance sigh.😢😢 The funniest part of the day was when One's Self and the Chairman of Club, as we returned to flight line a new pilot who had been hopping round with an Align 450 standard had Binned his flight snapped a 5 dollar nylon Servo horn and he was crying over the cost of a poxy dollar nylon Servo arm One said you think that's an hardship you should go find a new hobby! Then, One showed him what was in the box his respons "who the f@^@ did that? What the f&÷£& happened to it? Suddenly holding One's Tx above head dancing around him singing "I done it, I done it, I binned my flight!"😂😂 He looked at One as though tapped in the head. No not at all binning your flight doesn't matter how experienced you are the chairman is 25 years+ and almost 20 years as an 3FA champion helo pilot back when gyro was some new gizmo that all helo pilots shun. He learned to fly like you would in a real helo the amount of times he put his flight in the deck lost count. Never take it to heart when you crash. What has the crash taught you? What did you do? A crash is part of learning. One would usually take off like real helo slow rise with both of One's flights and not afraid to try do aerobatics its something One woukd like to learn, this why One crashed because One was pushing to hard. Though an odderty The 800 was unresponsive to Tx command we checked both Tx Rx switched to low power and while One person operated the Tx both the chairman and One Self we walked down the length of the runway a private landing strip. The Tx Rx did not loose connection nor did the Tellematary show issues, though it showed interference and had tried to scan for clean frequency as most do that are pulse coded, One has yet to strip down 800 back to as came in kit form to do full inspect and evaluation as the frame is carbon fibre this has to under go very close scrutiny, if the 800 failed and strikes an human the least damage is life changing loss of limb it has the power to decapitate. You can not take chances with such powerful equipment! The 700 has the power to take head or limbs off clean blades will keep turning the motor will draw current to turn head and will suck the life out of dual 5000mah 22v battery packs in series and is The ESC by Kosmic that control power and allow a 2 second burst power. Usually for high draw 3d manoeuvres... Losing your Airwolf is a shame because all the Airwolf kits One has seen look beautiful excluding the 450 version is not as nice as say a 550 600 or better 700 and ultimately the 800 which has most detail. One considered one of these after gettting 800 had a chance to play with a 700 Squirrel based on UK London police, it was lively and the characteristics are very different to One's 800 mostly due to the scale body he said she handles better now I put the scale triblade head in for this kit as it had the original flappers (Flybar) it was like forever to do anything now with the proper scale head she handles beautiful a pleasure to fly. As daft as this may sound go back over your flight from moment you arrived at field write everything down that you remember as it happend, this may jog your subconscious into suddenly you remember things that you didn't before. It's a Psychology trick try it see if it helps. Always keep a note a journal of your flights and always respect your flight if something anything feels off you have a nagging in back of mind do not fly! Sort out what is nagging you first. If you've made alterations to your flight put learning hope on her or some form of learning aid that makes it difficalt to tip over during landing taking off cycles watch to see how your flight responds. One said before you notice anything that makes you go that's odd or gives you a feeling something off land chop to flight idle set her down does not matter who's their or what they're saying land your flight and shutdown! Don't think be alright and fly back towards you as so you don't have to walk down the flightline or runway to go get her always think if loose authority over her she's in the deck.because if you don't and its near people let you imagine the consequences! Your flight Can be replaced, rebuilt the damage to a human could be life changing to say least or wven worse cause the death of human it struck. Never be afraid to pit your flight in the deck "SAFETY OF LIFE IS PARAMOUNT!" One hopes you soon have your flight back on flight status: Airworthiness! She looked really good in flight. It's also nice seeing an CI powerplant smoke looked good no lubricants issue as it looks a nice blue hue may be a tad rich though some do run better rich than stated fee run well lean. Blessings Love and Light Namaste

    You know, I've been flying helicopters since 93. Airplanes, maybe 15 years. I cannot count on both hands how many models I've taken up, and, either I was pushing my limits and trying to learn(aerobatics), someone ran into my model(happened a couple times over the years), or radio glitches(hasn't happened in years, but still). You have to take a deep breath, every time you put one in the air. Even for simple hovering. But the thing is: a model can be replaced, a person can't. Could have been worse, and for some, they've put them in the air, and, that was the last thing "they did". Models can be dangerous.. Especially helicopters, and their many moving parts.. Don't get me wrong, I empathize completely as a modeler, but also as a modeler who lost a Vario BO105 long ago, you have to keep it moving, and push on...
