"idk...there's a video" - me at the end of this video Just a quick chat about this patch with some simple phasor-synced sequencer stuff. There's a bunch of actual good tutorials on this by Phillp Meyer. Hoping to wrap my head around the Rhythm and Time toolkit at some point. There IS a reason to do this stuff in max instead of ableton but I'm not qualified to say what that is. Still fun though.

This was one of the first things I ever wanted to build in jitter, an interactive MIDI visualization. I probably remade the main portion of this patch fifty times as I struggled to learn how to use jit.gl.multiple and jit.gl.node correctly. Hoping to do some other music theory visualizing patches eventually, maybe a tonnetz or something like the diagrams in Dmitri Tymoczko's 'A Geometry of Musi...

So I made a music video for a track in jitter a while back. I should post the full video at some point. I'm using some jit.gl.sketch techniques I showed in previous videos, plus some other ones I still want to document. Max is running outside of Ableton, sending midi over the network via a M4L device. sounds...way cooler than it is. Basically drawing 3 sine waves and plotting points between them. Easier said than done!

another jit.gl.sketch patch, this time using two "oscillators" to draw different waves and stamp down shapes along those paths...it's just a wonky kind of double helix

Not only is this a top notch Max/Jitter patch, but the music is really well composed. Great chord choices, and the tight integration of the midi with the arpeggiated lines gives the viewer a sense of excitement and journey. I hope you keep making this sort of music and visual art, this video deserves more attention!
Hey thanks! I've been using max for like 10 years but it doesn't take that long to learn this type of sequencing stuff now, especially with all the new objects and great tutorials out there. Definitely check out Phillip Meyers fundamentals of sequencing 👍
This is awesome dude! I´ve been wanting to get into max msp.. just for reference, how long did it take you to get to this point? I´ve been wanting to make my own midi sequencers, based on phasors, and I guess this could be a good place to start, cheers!
