Artist residency and mentoring programme - Berlin Neukölln studio based
Learn about Artist Stephanie Hamer and her paintings in this short video.
This historic attic now transformed into an artist residency and mentoring programme - for the sole purpose of painting in oil over 3 or 12 month periods. The residency period will be complimented with monthly painting tutorials with one of the Burnt sienna art school tutors. These one-on-ones are an essential part of the programme designed to help you plan and develop your art practice and push forward with painting. The programme is complimented by monthly group critiques with other artists in the studio. The residency is located in a historic beautiful old loft hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Neukölln. The space is private with no public access. You would be given your own contract and keys if you are choosen as an artist to work with us.

what you need to provide
• Studio programme fee - € 340 per calendar month
the monthly fee for visiting artists is inclusive of full access to work in our studio with your own set of key. The fee does not include accommodation residents are asked to find there own accommodation prior to arriving in Berlin and confirm it is secured before starting the residency.

Apartment and studio programme fee - When available please enquire if you are also looking for an apartment we might be able to help.
Languages spoke
The main language of the residency programme is English and German although you will be mostly working independently in the studio with one other artist all tutorials, classes and lectures will be in English.
Visa
If the artist comes from a non-European country, they must obtain a valid visa for the duration of the residency. This is the responsibility of the artist. We can issue a letter of acceptance for this purpose. Please ensure this is finalized in a timely manner before your attendance.
Expenses
The artist takes full responsibility for assuming the costs of the residency fees, insurance, transport and travel expenses. We encourage artists to look for a grant in their country of origin/residency to finance all the costs. Burnt sienna Art school Berlin will issue a letter of acceptance to support the artists application.
Residency Programme
There is one main studio space suitable for two artists or one artist to work in at any one residency period. The studio has a small kitchen, shower and WC. Basic expenses, including maintenance, gas, electricity, internet, and utilities are included in the rent. The apartment is equipped with: • double bed • bed linens + towels • desk • desk chair • bookshelf • table lamp • clothes rail • stool
Curatorial and professional support
As part of the residency programme, you will be offered tutorials and assitance during your stay. Through individual meetings, either online and in person at least once a month the director of Burnt sienna will share ideas, references, and possibilities to enrich the creative process. The close professional exchange between artist and curator is understood as a source of expanding the creative experience, opening new professional horizons in the art and cultural field and expanding knowledge of other trends or disciplines. The artist will also have access to all the equipment and tools available in the residency, including basic tools, woodworking tools, and multimedia equipment such as projectors and screens. For more information regarding the materials available please contact us via email so we can send you a detailed list of what is available. Any material needed for the development of the artist’s project that is not available at the residency, must be purchased by the artist. This could be for example brushes, paints, film, fabrics, etc.
