Spoonful
“Spoonful'' is a coming-of-age film that follows Gershwin as she moves from her friend's couch to a room of her own.
A film by Kali Veach
Kali Veach is a writer and director interested in absurd connections, tragicomic consequences, queer perspectives, and the ways in which organizations and individuals interface with emerging technologies. Upon returning to UCR, she was selected as the writer-director for the fall 2021 Gluck Film Ensemble Fellowship. Oh, SNAP! I finally get it!! Thanks so much. After years of not understanding your tutorial is the first one to actually show what the heck to do. Today is October 31, 2024. Happy Halloween. ❤ _OMG I cannot believe I finally know how to do this now_
Beautiful, informative, and precious production, Maribel.
Very interesting interpretation (as a South African). Looks like the you had fun!
Your video is amazing thank you
Wow she looks good for her age!!!
He get the Filipino accent and the pigeon accent ah. Sakada bloodline here 🤙🏽 .
One of my lolos was also a 'sakada' 😊 hello lolo! I'm also from Vintar Ilocos Norte🎉
This video is very informative spectacular and give me a vivid image of how collage arose in the 20th century. This detailed portrayal of Picasso and modern art collages gave me a sense of nostalgia to how skibidi the painting were back in the day of ohio. However the speakers voice is highly irritating giving me sense of anger while i listen to this informative video.Overall i beleive that picasso is overated and my art is better than jacks.
Anyone 2024❤
Nakakawlang dignidad yung mapeh namin kaya ako nandito huhuhuhu 🥲
only a few Filipinos lived Waianae Plantation days
Beautiful story and life. My dad was a Sakada. Arriving with his older brother in January 1946. They worked at the Hakalau Plantation on the Big Island. He eventually moved to Oahu. Married mom and raised our family.
Thank you ❤
My dad and his older brother arrived around the same time. Also contracted field workers. They were from Ilocos.

you made this so godfully easy TYSM!!!!
Fam, I love this video. Thank you!
Nice story. Thank you.
That Ilocano side is still there "Dakam kada daddym ti nagkukuyog idi umay kam ti Hawaii"
Bumakasyon kan Ama ❤️
My great grandpa Liborio Valiente and hes sister Carmen Valiente was also a Sakada they're from from Bangui and most of our relatives are living in Hawaii already
It's nice to hear Tata Erice hear his life story. My Dad was on the first SS Maunawili trip to Hawaii; he eventually ended up in Maunaloa, Molokai where he worked as a field laborer and then driving the spray trucks and then the big trucks that hauled the pineapple from the field to the wharf. Like Tata Erice my dad did not finish school because of the war so when he got to Hawaii he started taking classes for his GED. He also took classes on electronics and he opened his TV repair shop at home. He was one of two TV repairmen in the small plantation town. I am the oldest and I have 4 siblings. My parents lived long enough to see all their children work as professionals although we all had to work picking pineapple in the summer to earn money to help with our college education. I actually went to OSU for my masters in computer science so that's quite a coincidence that one of his children went there.
My father was on the same ship Mr Ramos was on.
im half filipino from oahu, my dad's parents were sakadas from ilocos norte. watching this and hearing that accent made me so happy because its so familiar to me- it reminds me of home, and he looks like my uncle geoffrey. i cried at the very end because of how happy he was and it reminded me of my grandma. she would always say how happy she was here and that she was glad she stayed 🥹 this old man made my heart melt
❤❤
Thank you so much for this wonderful video. My practicing starts TODAY!!! Your performance and instruction is inspiring!

Thank you for the correction po.

Your video is wonderful...but may I suggest if you ever do a reboot to consider a different example than "Somewhere That's Green"? I love sharing your introduction and explanation with my elementary students, but it wouldn't appropriate for them to search up the semi-sadist lyric from Little Shop. A great explanation for younger students otherwise! :)

Inspirational - be who you are and be proud of your culture and your roots.
Bring tears to my eyes for this kind of culture is slowly dying. I was raised in this life, the Plantation Camp Life.
Oh wow amazing story . . Watching from Laoag City - the Philippines. . I wish To borrow some parts of the video on my Original Ilokano Song Composition, titled " SAKADA 1906" How can I get in touch with Mrs Apolonia Stice?

Sir mirror ni siya ang Sua-Ku-Sua?
Yes po. Taught in mirror approach. Also, this dance has been modified for teaching purposes (like the names of the steps for easy recall). I would highly encourage you to take a look at the dance literature for the exact movement combinations. Thank you.
By far the best step by step for basics that I’ve been able to follow. I watched all three cumbia videos 🙏🏽
Very nice!

@@danjeromemalapira582 I would love to help you with your thesis but I only remember few things about my father's life as a Sakada, he married my mother when he was 68 years old so I was only 5 or 6 when he shared it with me his life during Sakada years
