I sorted it out, my son's GU Patrols rear diff kept breaking the pinion, I found out it was the diff was out of alignment with the transmission vertically. Then I had to purchase another diff, but due to not finding a rear, I ended up with a front diff, which I had to transfer the LSD from the rear and swap over the ring gear. This was really something that I had to learn of myself, as every time I torqued the bolts down the pinion would bind tight with the ring gear, due to the fact that the ring gear off the front diff was much thicker, leaving no room for movement. I ended up grinding the inner side of the diff to allow enough freedom for the pinion to have free play. This setup gives the rear a high pinion diff, since then my son has driven it from Rockhampton to Mackay multiple times, and the other day from Mackay to Bundaberg and has had no issues. I did drill and tap aa large hole in the top of the diff so as to put 5 litres of oil in, so that was my dilemma and how I fixed it lol
Its relatively straightforward i don't have any specs on it but if u take your time and do the nut up slowly and keep feeling the preload as u go u will have no problem

At last, another mechanic that agrees with me that the extra shim is a croc! Sometimes you just can't squeeze 51mm of metal plates into a 50mm space!!

No not really you must make sure to stack the clutch plates in the correct orientation friction surface to friction surface and that's it
