Kansas Joe McCoy of The Harlem Hamfats ! The music then in the 1930 ‘s was Wonderful and Raw ! This is a very good cover ! Lovely raw voice ! Well done Hugh!
I’m all for diversity. But crap is crap. Rap is just misspelled. They forgot the C. Seriously what talent is being used for the production of rap music? No live instruments. Just synthesizers and noise makers. Granted there is a fair amount of writing involved. So one talent. Sorry.
@@travislee9396rappers aren’t the only people that don’t use live instruments 😂 there are actually lots of live playing in popular rap same with other genres
It's amazing how a superb actor/comedian did all the great acting while dreaming of "just" being a musician. I'm so in awe of his multitalents. Jeeves and Wooster, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Black adder, The Night Manager, Stuart Little, etc, etc. And the the music! Talk about range! ❤
This was the Harlem Hamfats original from a man's perspective. It was rewritten for Lil Greene as Why don't you do right, from the woman's perspective. That was made famous by Peggy Lee with a new arrangement by Benny Goodman for a movie around 1942. This is the Hamfats original so words are different.
Wow. What a vibe. I listened to it five times straight after discovering it by accident. Stellar performance. Her voice caresses, cajoles, ripples through. So good. Instrumental and whole ambience, even the audience living it alongside, created a perfect moment.
Sitting on a million, sitting on it everyday Can't make no money giving your stuff away Why don't you do right, like the millionaires do Put your stuff on the market and make a million too Fay's a betting woman, she bets on every hand She's a tricky mother for you, everywhere she lands Why don't you do now, like the millionaires do Put your stuff on the market and make a million too May's a good looking frail, she lives down by the jail On the back though she got hot stuff for sale Why don't you do now, like the millionaires do Put your stuff on the market and make a million too Sitting on a million, sitting on it everyday can't make no money giving your stuff away Why don't you do now, like the millionaires do Put your stuff on the market and make a million too Put your stuff on the market and make a million... too
Tromboner looks plain, but she can fucking play my blues anytime she likes,

OMG I love that flatulent trumpet with the plumber's helper as a mute, brilliant
Lovely! And that sax player...WOW!
Thats an amazing performance . Gabby and Hugh and the band are clicking .The song is based on the Peggy Lee song Why dont you do right from 1940
THat lil crisp of Growl in her voice on those two points. Those are the musical resonance of pure dopamine to me!
Killer voice
How can anyone go back to listening to rap after this?!
Why not? diversity is everything! 😊

Ahhh…..real blues, played by real musicians….how nice!!
That sax is a slide trombone, with a traditional mute, a toilet plunger.
I like this Hugh guy. He should try some acting out!

Great trombonists
Elegance at it's finest.
Great performance. It made me play the tune also.
