    At my vigil for my sword knighting I was asked what the difference was a bunch I answered with this, warlord is my PHD in fighting and that my knighthood was my teaching degree. So much of my kingdoms knighting culture for sword is centered on developing fighters so it was the best metaphor I could come up with.

    16:08 this is incorrect. equipment blocking a shot while it is no longer wielded would cause the shot to travel through and hit what it would have had the equipment not been there. Per the ROP, Combat notes section 1: 1. Shots that only strike garb, armor, or carried equipment do not count as a hit unless: a. Said items blocked a blow that would have struck a combatant (i.e. garb, equipment, sheathed weapons, etc. are not shields and do not count as armor) b. The shot is Engulfing. Engulfing effects do trigger on garb and equipment hits

    Hey, shots to carried equipment only count if they would have contacted the body, so smackign their sword actually isn't a killing blow in Amtgard. You can find the info for that on page 7 of the RoP. Thanks!

    Thank you for sharing. I faced burnout before from being on ZOOM a lot from being on almost every day for something whether related to work or other events. I finally had to cut off being on ZOOM for many things. And it took me from 2022 to present before I felt like increasing my appearances on ZOOM. I'm also facing burnout from the busy work schedule, gaming, etc. So I've slowed down gaming to a couple hours a day on Xbox or PC, but not playing on both PC and Console.

    Thanks for the video! Something that is confusing my newer players at my park. At 16mins you described taking the arm then hit the sword. My newer players saw this as hit then tap the sword for an auto kill. In Amtgard since the arm is wounded the equipment is not being wielded, just carried, so the hit would not count unless it would have hit something had the sword not been there. Simply tapping the sword but not in a direction that would have hit is not a kill. I have had many discussions about this over the last week and so wanted to note that here. (For rules reference location it's under combat notes)

    • @WarlordMagni
      @WarlordMagni 2 місяці тому

      @zalosgopro thanks for the classification. I've always taken any hit on a Sword wielded in a dead hand, as this was what I was taught. It can often be a fuzzy gray area when differentiating if the Sword in a dead arm actually blocked a shot or not (easier to tell with more experienced fighters).

    For the double leg, it's important to discuss observing the micro in opponent tendencies when becoming legged, and the macro of where your equipment is, and what it is doing when the opponent becomes legged. (typically people will raise their shield when they are struck in the boardside leg, or they will "Shift/passing step/stance switch" as a response to being legged. or they may have a higher likelihood to counter attack as a response to being legged). Considering the "when" with the double leg, I typically format this attack in the "When I'm initiating, When I"m recieving/countering" Again the placement of your equipment and optimal pathing, and considering of their likely returns/intentions, on your way to the other leg is probably the most important.

      @supermanofmen Raven, thank you for making these clarifying points. The planning, understanding the response, setup, initiation, and execution are all key factors in pulling the win for Legged scenarios and more broadly all fighting instances. Your points fill in a lot of the gaps to making a robust fighter that is actually making their path to success rather than smashing combos until something works. For this class I was hoping to teach the basics of the mechanics and the setups. I try not to pack too much in one video. I'm going to cover many of these points in my positioning class but then inmy advanced Category classes my focus will be to connect the base mechanics and Combos with the mental and conceptual sides of fighting to build the skills of dissection, information extraction, planning, ect. Thank you again for the pointers! 🙏

    Yall start way too close. It's hard to say much on most of these because it just kooks like you're having a western quickdraw/call of duty noscope fight. You will get more to review and deconstruct for both you and your opponent if you both take a half step back after tapping off.

    • @bravegrayknight8608
      @bravegrayknight8608 7 місяців тому

      I respectfully disagree. Amtgard can have some very quick fights, especially for upper tier fighters. After tapping swords both fighters do step back and begin outside of each other's range prior to engaging. Magni is a well known offensive fighter and wastes no time closing the distance in each round. It's skills like this has led him to the rank of Warlord. His opponent appeared to be taken off guard by Magni's speed, but began to adapt and get some good kills. The down side of Magni's aggressive style was that it left him quite open. An advantage that a was taken.
