As a Red Wings fan i just noticed how much faster the Red Wings were overall but the Pens aren't physical enough as well to compete night in and night out with other teams.. also the Pens board play is mid at best.. i new as a Red Wings fan we would win because of those things.. just something for you Pens fans to think about getting better in, is all

Detroit has not been rebuilding for 7 years. lol Yzerman took over in April of 2019 and the team bottomed out the same year at 39pts. Prior to that Kenny Holland was doing precisely what Dubas is doing in Pittsburgh right now...trying to get back into the playoffs. I hesitate to even call what Holland was doing prior to 2019 a "re-tooling", because it was just year after year of adding a few vets to try to get back to playoff form. A quarter century of playoff appearances do not just go away overnight. Pens fans should have a unique understanding of this given the disappointing end to last season. When captain Hank Zetterberg announced his retirement in Sept? of 2018 it was clear to everyone that it was time to rebuild and that may have been the first time it was a real conversation in Detroit. Shortly thereafter Holland's contract was not renewed and his former AGM Steve Yzerman left Tampa and returned home to take over. Detroit fans wished the rebuild began years before it did, but the reality is that with the departure of Flip Zadina, the team has a grand total of 3 guys left that were Kenny Holland draft picks on their current roster and they're still not done wasting dead cap on guys Yzerman had to buy out because "playoff streak" and Kenny Holland's relentless pursuit of past glory. Pavel Datsyuk's contract was traded in 2016 and everyone knew it was over and a rebuild was necessary...everyone except Kenny Holland. Imagine the current Pens, but delete Malkin to appreciate the position Detroit was in heading into the 2016 season. Now imagine ownership and the GM refuse to pull the plug and just continuously make moves to get back into relevance. That may be current Pittsburgh Penguins reality.
