Can this farmer cook? Slow braised grassfed lamb shank!
Переглядів 1567 місяців тому
Join us for a simple slow braised lamb shank recipe. Our sheep are raised with love and they provide excellent nutrition to us farmers when we eat them. The relationship between farmers and animals is a very old relationship that is special to the farmers and the animals. This is a simple meal that is delicious. If I had this meal at a restaurant, I would be very happy. Enjoy.

Raw milk dream cheese and yogurt made from just milk and kefir
Переглядів 224Рік тому
We are new to making cheese, but we are trying new ways of providing our own food instead of buying it from the store. Self reliance is part of our long term goals and making yogurt and cheese from our extra milk makes great sense. We also believe in using as few ingredients as possible and this couldn’t be simpler, just kefir and raw milk and a bit of stove time.

You've done well. Loved the narration and no probs with the speed setting.

I could have missed you mention that on one of Dr. Leo's videos, to use plywood that doesn't have formaldehyde. And that you would need to read the SDS. Just in case you want to build your own.

What was the material needed for each structure? Contemplating doing my own Market next year, thanks. Appreciate the post, the sketch of the finished product looked amazing, if you have a video from the result/market would love to see it.

Why wouldn't the honey/nectar just drip out when you orient the comb out of plumb into the Layens? I know Dr. Leo cuts and rubber bands such comb (keeping the orientation of the comb upright) into the new frames. Also: Goats LOVE to jump up high onto things, of course they thought you put those hives there for them to climb! And: Dr. Leo says put some design to help bees differentiate which hive is which! Spray paint a stencil, anything! Love your hives, Good luck!

Very helpful video. I bought one Layen's Hive from Dr. Leo and hope to make more. His instructions for the insulated hive didn't have pictures so this video filled in some blanks for me.

Here in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I bought a Langstroth Swarm Travel Nuc. About £30 from a Bee Supplier. Already had a Battery Running Car Vacuum Cleaner. Has a Slot for adding a Battery, Power Tool type : For Extra power (re larger Swarm Suction needs.) Used the Nuc's Round Entrance Hole (with its own Plug) to locate a Smooth interior Hose to Suck up any Bees. (No smashing or bashing Bees !) Inside this Nuc is a Langstroth Frame fixed in Place and a 2nd one with No Foundation. Can lift these out safely after Travel. You don't want Frames Rattling about in Trasnsit ! All the rest of this x6 Frame Box is left empty, to aid the Swarm to Crawl about within this Nuc after being 'sucked up'. Apart from a Sloping Floor going towards the entrance, this to helps the Bees to Crawl up onto the Frames too. As Swarm Boxes have Mesh Panels for Ventilation in Travel. I made a second flat Solid Roof with a Hole for the Vacuum Hose to Slot into it. Nice and easy to connect & disconnect. As the Mesh is Inset : I add a central Deeper Panel (to cover the Mesh to create a decent Seal.) Also added a thin sheet of Foam Material glued to it. Means no Suction is lost while the Vacuum is Running. Yet, when the Swarm is all Sucked Up and Caught. You just Take off the Outer Roof. The Bees are held within the Swarm Travel Nuc with its Vented Mesh (existing) Roof. Quickly take off the Front Bee Sucking Hose. And Plug the Entrance Hole closed. (Unit came with the Plug provided.) So simple to Make and Use. 👍 Why Smash and Bash Bees into a collection of Plastic Buckets ? When they can alight Calmly on to Provided Frames. Once Home, you just carefully 'unstrap' the Nuc's own Screened Roof and Transfer the Frames straight into a waiting Hive. Easy and Cheap to Make a Bee Vacuum from a well designed Nuc. What's not to like. Two uses from the same Nuc. Collect them up. And then Travel Home with a Mass of Bees: Vented and Secure, inside a Bee Box ! . . . 🙃 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Happy Beekeeping 2024 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
