@@aprikurniawan6952 on my device, i can update using update in System Settings. But it is not recommended. It's also still a hassle, since you can't get incremental update directly from Apple. Meaning, the download size if you update from system settings is as big as the whole installer. For example, if you are on 15.0, then an update for 15.0.1 is up on System Settings, instead of downloading like 500MB or 2GB for the update, it will force you to download 14GB which is the whole installer for 15.0.1 So in my opinion, the best way to update is to use OCLP. do the process using USB. It is safer that way. It's kind of a long process but it is worth it. And in the end you will always have a USB with the latest version installer. And also, we don't update very often.

i've tried it multiple times without erasing the drive or doing a clean install. Yes data is safe. but it's always recommended to have a backup. just i case something go wrong on your end or if ever you want to downgrade in the future. Do it at your own risk. back up important data. or make use of icloud storage. icloud+ 50gb is only a dollar.

@@IRIETech Thanks for commenting - just wondered if there was a snag I hadn't thought of. The idea seems to have the advantage of being reversible, but I'm still undecided whether to go ahead. I will let you know how I get on if I do.

@@peterjohnston4088 that's what I did at first too. I tried a bunch of macOS versions, from the one that is fully supported by my 2015 MBP which is Monterey, down to Catalina, then Sonoma, Sequoia, and finally Sequoia 15.1. I did the installs on an external SSD just to try if what really I want in the end. after all successful installs on the SSD, I then decided what to install on my internal drive, which was Sequoia 15.1. now I'm using the external SSD as a Windows 11 drive used for some school programming stuffs. Works really well to. actually I'm replying to this comment using Windows 11 on an external SSD running on my MBP 2015.

in my experienced sonoma and sequoia is not recommended due to issues with wifi and BT and so sluggish in my imac and mbp pro do have to resort back to ventura

@@bobbyjimenez4482Sonoma was working perfectly fine, the problems started once I tried to install sequoia, the patcher didn’t allow the update for some reason

if you can, back up all your important files from your macbook. do the install of macos sequoia again. but this time, do a clean install. During installation, open disk utility and erase your drive and install sequoia there using USB. Hope this helps!

Are you using the latest OpenCore Version? The latest sequoia installer download should be there in OpenCore

@@anirudhdeshmukh system preferences is also laggy on my hackintosh. With an RX5600XT gpu. I also noticed on some supported macbook, system preferences also lags a bit. I think it has nothing to do with oclp, it’s apples problem

@@anirudhdeshmukh I tried the Sequoia beta on my hackintosh before. it's way2 snappier and smoother than sonoma. Im excited for the Final release and OCLP support. I just wish it will still be smooth on release day just like the beta

@@IRIETech in a fun turn of events, after reverting to Monterey from Sonoma… my Monterey is more smoother than before, and less crashes and super responsive. Unsure if some kernel change or some internal setting led to this.

It depends on which generation of i series. But for the most part is the base clock speeds. The xeon usually have lower base clock speeds and tends to have a lower single core performance. If you mean the older i series intels, Xeon are way more valuable than those old i series CPUS. Also if you compare this to newer intel i series, the main con is, Xeons uses old platform. Most motherboards dont have the same features that we have in newer boards. Also the energy consumption is higher with these xeons. But its not that big of a deal.

2670v3 has 2 more cores but it has a lower base and boost clock speeds. 2670v3 also consumes more kW/h. Their performance difference is negligible if you are gaming. But if you need more cores for a specific reason you know what to buy. They are also released in the same year.
