dang tall wow
That was well done 👏
I grew up in an age where we had to make everything from everything else... Bullet proof disc break 9inch rearend fron a 74 Grenada, Mustang][ Rack and Pinion from a Mustang 2... 1970s TransAm Front Subframe and suspension shoved under a 55 Ford Stepside.. Modifying the parts, Making all the bracketry to mount it all, doing all the geometry to make it perform properly, etc etc etc... Now you can buy all the parts and bolt it together.. CNC has taken Hot Rodding to a Whole New Level... I Love the Adventure and Journey and all the Hours standing around a popped hood in a park8ng lot making new friends and learning new things... Kids working their Arses off to Build Their Car in time for FRIDAY NIGHT and Weekend Races... The Education was Brutal at Times but Always Worth It... You Cats Truly Have one of the Best Jobs Around... Never Lose Sight of that... and if you begin to hate your job... Build Something Else... \m/
BaddAss!!! And Your Daughter did a Great job of painting the parts...
I was talking to a friend in his Ambulance, his partner gave me a Lollypop as a Doctor Joke, I immediately started eating it, when she turned back around and had a look of horror on her face.. and tried to take it from me.. I guess she thought I would just set it down... Evidently they put pain killers in Lollypops now ? I definitely had a kick in my step and perma grin for a bit so I believe there was more to that lolly pop or maybe It was my subconscious and she just had me believing it was drugged.. I should have kept it... Don't eat lollypops from Ambulances...
Now build a Pyramid Power Plant !
It would be really helpful to make a way to add a key to a washer. Key washers come in lots of sizes and none are available as standard hardware. The only way to get one for any size is to make them. Key washers are on lots of things, my interest is bicycles, and every one has a key washer somewhere on it.
A keyed washer is a great idea and pattern. We are always looking for ways to improve, thank you for your comment.
Not only do your vids provide a whole bunch of good information, you're entertaining to watch and listen to.
Thanks so much for watching.
Cardboard aided design? You mean computer assisted design?
A traditional break can do tapered parts if the holddowns clamp the tapered portion.
True! Unfortunately, clamping doesn't equal speed. Since we'll often be making a quantity of 1 part (that we'll never see again), creating a fixture for the clamp can take more time, not to mention cost. For higher volumes, it makes a lot of sense and will pencil out.
When do you bent it like this and when do you edge bend?
Thanks guys! Definitely am no stranger to the awesome and helpful team at SCS especially when it comes to bends and getting things figured out. My question, I've had parts bent before, and on a later placed order (of the same parts), I was instructed to make revisions - I did notice that the orders came from different locations - do different locations have varying tooling/machines?
Could be a lot of things, it's hard to say without seeing your file. All of our locations have the same machines/tooling, but as we grow we are often making adjustments to maximize our capabilities and production. You're always welcome to ask the support team what's changed.
Try to explain it to engineers and it goes in one ear and out the other.
at the 2 minute mark you could just flip the top punch around and the part would clear easily
also at 3:50 you can use a rolla v bottom die and bend super close to holes without much distortion

When you get paid by the job not by the hour
Mechanically engineered, yes, but what about the nuanced physics of edge burrs, pressure points, and tip wear-down? You can still get very inconsistent results as the tips wear down across samples, or if there are new tips, variance across batches.

Heck yeah. Would love to see some testing on bare aluminum vs anodized. Anodized vs powder coated. Sounds fun

So was it $41 for 4 or them or $41 each?
