Nice cover but nobody could ever better Michael's original on this song. Aussie cover band HSCC (Hindley Street Country Club) do an awesome cover. They have fans world wide, their various singers, musicians & choice of cover songs are amazing. But I would still choose Michael McDonald everytime, though can appreciate some other versions.

I must say that this is the second best version of this song, only behind Aretha Franklin's version, which this one is patterned after. Aretha sped the tempo up and gave it a harder funkier groove and she sang her own background vocals. Micheal's version is the original, he wrote it, but Aretha's version is better- she perfected it!
