Your commentary about the autothrottles is false. The MD-11 is authorized (and frequently operated) to land with the autothrottles on. Due to the gusty wind conditions, I am not surprised the crew opted to leave them on. This was not an oversight. Furthermore, landing "fast" was not the issue. The high sinkrate, probably due to the windshear associated with the weather system, was not anticipated, counteracted, nor a go-around called for. Finally, a firm landing in the MD-11 is especially problematic due to the main gear being attached to the wing strut, so hard landings render the plane susceptible to structural failure, as is seen in the Narita crash.

I lived in Akron less than a mile from the airport and the crash site when this happened.. The captain was Oscar Chavez and the first officer was Renato Marchese... Nice video though 🤗🤗, I've always been curious if anyone did flight sims on it..

Who dislikes a beautiful afternoon takeoff at Las Vegas I mean i know i like beautiful morning takeoffs but this is amazing and you get to ride in planes just about 24/7 true aviator!
