My boy talks a little. He tries very hard but they cant do it as well as a parrot of othee species. My boys female buddy only yells.

I have a question I have a female cockatail is it possible for her to talk and it’s 3 months old is it possible maybe when she’s older she might talk?

Highly ironic that the only videos I’ve seen on this specific subject on UA-cam have been with artificial voices because the owner apparently can’t talk over the video themselves…

My first cockatiel lived to be 18 years old. I don’t know how old she was when i got her so she may have been older, but i grew up with her in my life. She was one of my best friends 🥲 I now have two juvenile cockatiels. Heres to a nice long life for both of them

My cockatiel is 32 years old bought in 1991 for my child’s 13th birthday,if buying a cockatiel please remember these birds can live a very long time and as they get really old they do need extra attention my birds beak now cannot open sunflower seeds so I buy shredded sunflower seeds I also collet fresh seeds UN spayed and shred them I have to give him a budgie bell as it’s easier for him.also you have to pay extra attention to their feathers at this age as they can get a wee bit soiled,also they are weaker at flying and love eating and sleeping,but my birds happy and loves listening to younger cockatiels on my phone.I would really check out how to look after a bird properly before buying then you will have a contented bird or better still get two they love company.

I have a 15 year old cockatiel, he shows signs of age. Not with food, but with physical effort. You can tell that it is difficult for him, especially when he stretches his wings, or gets scared by something and flies, his breathing is noticeable.

Thanks very much for this instructional video. My cockatiel Chipper is now 17 years of age and he is a treasure. Your video reminded me of when I started teaching him how to talk…basically I was patient with him and gave him lots of love. When I brought him home from the bird specialty store, I realized that he was missing a toenail-perhaps a birth defect. He was 4 months old and I wondered if people overlooked him for that reason. The next day, when I tried to teach him how to perch on my finger, Chipper put his head down for a pet. I was amused yet realized that he had a sweet personality. I was also thinking it was possible that there was something very special about this little bird! Within a day, he learned how to perch on my finger. In two weeks, he learned the wolf whistle and shortly after, the charge whistle. About a couple of months later, Chipper had a repertoire including various whistles, improvising his own little melodies and saying his name and various phrases. Once he knew that he was a talker, there was no stopping Chipper because he was enjoying himself! And yes, I’d give him praise for what he did. Chipper also loves to talk to people on the phone and on video as well as pose for photos. He’s my little ray of sunshine. Again thanks for this video.

Mine's 23, although his gf passed at 17, several years ago

Peaches is 21 and set in her ways. She cuddles sometimes, still. Appreciating her last days thinking one day I’ll find her laying at the bottom of her cage. Once in a while she’ll enjoy fruits & vegetables but her new favorite is unsalted/no butter popcorn.

My Cockatiel (Toto) turned 30 years last October in 2023. Normal age as a looked after pet is 30 to 34 years. He now is very selective of what seed he will eat.
