Hey Mike, this is awesome brother. In the military, we used the 70% rule. One could argue that you'll never actually achieve 100% or understand 100% of anything, because you can always do more. If you maintain this idea of 100% using that argument, it would be very easy to feel like you are accomplishing exactly 0%. I love the idea of starting something without all of the information, learning as you go, and then completing it to the best of your ability.

Bro, wth. Absolute hidden gem. People don't know what the hell they want, but they think they do. Ask them more about the obstacles in the way of their "percieved goal." Take these obstacles, connect the dots that point to what their ACTUAL goal is, which they are probably unconscious of. That's my understaning at least. If that's not right, I'm more than happy to be told I'm wrong. (With an explanation of what I'm missing ofc!!!!)

Or I also listen to them without any reaction until they exhaust themselves and stop by themselves. I did that with people stuck on 'poor me' mode and they would stop realizing what they do and the fact that I won't validate them at all. I also sometime reframe their saying but as you say, the bottom line is to not positively reinforce their patterns.
