Part 2: 2003 Ford Explorer no crank no start fuse 41.
In Part 2 of "2003 Ford Explorer no crank no start fuse 41" I detail the electrical modification I am using to give the PCM it's own dedicated circuit separate from the O2 sensor circuit also known as the "notorious fuse 41 circuit". Ok maybe that's just the nickname I gave it. Minimizing vehicle emissions is certainly important but should personal safety come second? Vehicle systems need to be fail-safe whenever possible.
My old Exploder turns 20 this year and I will do everything in my power to keep this very capable and solid SUV on the road as long as I can. We are all hearing the horror stories of today's fully electronic vehicles malfunctioning in very lethal ways. Is it worth it? Have we gone to far with tech? Just because we can do something doesn't always mean we should.
Enjoy the video and remember:
I AM NOT A MECHANIC.
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS MODIFICATION.
THE ELECTRICAL MODIFICATION IN THIS VIDEO COULD MAKE YOUR VEHICLE BLOW UP, CRASH, ROLL 17 TIMES AND KILL THE OCCUPANTS IF THEY ARE NOT WEARING THEIR SEAT BELTS.
(Oh wait. That's what happens if fuse #41 blows when you are at Warp 2 on the freeway.)

UPDATE: This wiring modification disconnects the VMV. I am exploring a fix for this. Check again soon for an update... In Part Two I show the complete wiring modification that includes a red LED light connected to the PCM Diode power socket and then to ground. Without this light or a continuous load of some kind it is an open loop and the VMV codes appear right away. Wondering why your 3rd gene...
