If you saturate the wooden wick with some of the wax and fragrance oil before lighting it it should stay lit if it’s the right size wick. That wick looks dry and that could be why it kept extinguishing. Cotton wicks come already prewaxed.

Sorry for what may be a dumb question but in everyone's opinion, when I buy a candle I am all about the smell. The stronger the smell the happier I am, so I know everyone has their own opinions which is why I am asking. What is better in "your" opinion? Wooden or Wick?

i have the same vessels. you need a htp 1212 cotton wick and for the wood wick I would go with the .5 with crackling booster or 625 . 625 will burn hot with a robust flame and a .75 will be 50/50 so do some more testing. You should look up wickless testing so you dont waste wax :) - This is my experience working with GB 464 pure soywax.

I bought a wooden Wick candle and loved it. When it burned out I bought soy wax and wooden Wicks and made my own but the wooden Wicks burn out. Any idea what the difference is?
That is also my problem. So using cotton wicks for now until i find the right size and thickness😅
Is the wick too small for your vessel?
The only wood wicks I've had luck with staying lit for the life of the candle are the ones from the wooden wick co. I love their booster crackling wood wicks.
Depends on if there’s too much fragrance oil too. Make sure the wooden wick is waxed prior to lighting and not dry. Could be too small of a wick for the vessel or not the right wooden wick for the type of wax. When wax is melted around and wick is dying, extinguish the flame and soak up the melted wax with a paper towel, trim the wick and light again.
Watching this right now while I'm working from home, thank you so much for making me relieve my childhood memories! I studied here from Prep-A to Grade 4 but have never got to visit again since I transferred schools. It's so nice to know that almost all of the layout has remained the same. Even the trash bin at 12:34 at in the same spot! Wish you also had the chance to film the ramps on the grade school building if they're still there haha. I remember that was the best thing they did for our stroller bags in 2004 because we always carried/dragged them over the stairs.

I like wood wicks better, if you have the right size. A bigger vessel may require 1 1/2 or even 2. I use soy wax and have zero trouble lighting them or getting good flame 🤷🏻♀️
Really? I tried doubling the thickness but it doesnt work either...maybe i need more experiement on this...
Quality of wooden wicks matter. Buy crackling ones from a good seller not from amazon. Then pre wax it use 2 and the right size. Also trim by instructions :) i am up for wooden crackling wick always.

Wooden wicks are nice for the smell. Because it can melt more wax in a given time. But i prefer the light from the Cotton Wicks.

That’s because the wooden wick was dry. It needs to be waxed prior to lighting so it remains lit
The wood wick you chose is too small for that vessel. I also don’t know what wax or FO you’re using for this test? Oh, and your cotton wick is too long (it should be 1/4” long, otherwise the flame will be too high, uncontrollable and will burn through your wax faster.). If you have difficulty centering cotton wicks, try “Wik_its,” specifically made for your type of vessel, from Dzign Haus. Best of luck to you and blessings!
I use Pure Soy Wax. Bottle is 3in diameter. Maybe you can help what Wood thickness suits this vessel? For the length of the Cotton Wick, what length do you suggest? How many inches from the candle?
