Serious question- which way is pointing at the direction the round part or the straight part?
I love directional locks tho 😢
Would you sell that one I need one for my room
Hey, trying to find the dmx channels for the bulb on MiBoxer. do you know if it is only RGBW or it is also possible to have the dimmer controlled separately?
It's 5 Channels. RGB and Warm White and Natural Light. No master dimmer unfortunately.
I would be able to tell this wasn't a wax cylinder from the start TBH.. There are no record grooves in it. It would be like looking at a record that was smooth and just spray painted. You would instantly be able to tell it wasn't a record.
I take offense to the betamax vs vhs you're old comment!.
Very clever and creative!
Hell yeah!
Great, I understood the Betamax reference... 🤦
Did you make your own animations?
Yes. We tend to make a lot of our own assets in-house.
@@TestSubjects the tube that fills up for the story telling is great, do you sell any of your videos?
@@severedlightning Not officially but if you email us we can chat about it!
Babe, wake up. Test Subjects just uploaded.
Where can I get the cable shooter?
It's called a LaserLine Pull String Shooter. A quick search should help you find it.
Nice torches. Lol
Stone accents does smell oddly delightful in small quantities 😂 I did some digging and was lead to believe it is the "Alkyl Quaternary Ammonium Bentonite" which is just a fragrant solvent haha
Nice!
This is great, thank you! Which mode # is story mode?
I BELIEVE it's 66.
Can the transmitter be linked to any 2,4 ghz rgb cct light bulb?
I don't know if ANY, but that same company makes other bulbs that might work. You'd have to test it.
When I go to select a scene, there's no ambient scene how do you add one?
What controller are you using?
@@smappdooda boo box flex
Ambient is now called "idle". It changed shortly after that video was made. They are the same thing. @@saucygaming4490
Good Stuff. Thanks. I just picked up a FlexMax 2 and it's really an amazing product. I'm incredibly surprised by the general lack of content regarding the device and this Director software you have been so kind to produce these videos about. Very talented group of people developing both this hardware and software. I've been tinkering around with this stuff for years.. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc, and it's nice to see a platform that integrates all these great functions, and not have it splayed all over the counter with breadboards and jumper wires.. At any rate, great work!
Thanks! It is nice to have everything all in one place for sure. There are limitations but that you'll find everything has a trade-off somewhere,
Nice new toy! I'm gunna have to order a few to add to the prototype rotation. Put a 90 deg pipe on the outlet of your vacuum pot to avoid blasting air into the resin when you release the vacuum. Which is what I say to myself every time I use ours. I haven't put one on yet...
I have the pico dmx But it does not have an audio out What would my options be I'm trying to do a show with a song I'm trying to have flame cannons and spotlights coming on some parts of the show I know you said you were going to do a video on slave Controllers
You can add a song into director to plan out your DMX fixtures to the music and then use any other audio player that can be triggered via a button (or get a bootunes as a separate player).
Hey! That looks familiar!
you got a video on bouillons, there's no video on making input 1 set off output 1, can you please make a 5 min video where 1 button (not a series of buttons) sets off 1 light , i'm 30 minutes into a 3 year old out of date video and i still dont know how to do this , no side thoughts or tangents or you'll need this laters. input 1 turns on output 1 that's it please
This video is for a deeper dive on Variables. You need our first video where we go over the basics - ua-cam.com/video/19vb_o3-mE4/v-deo.html
Amazing find and a great video! Thanks for sharing, I'll be adding a couple of these to my front yard to use for Halloween and Christmas lights controlled through xLights. I've been searching for a solution like this for a long time. 💥BOOM!!!💥™
Athom Wled LED bulbs will drop straight into Xlights via WiFi. Not DMX though.
Thanks for the tip@@adamaglionby7438@adamaglionby7438, this will work better for my use.
Odd use of an ethernet port when it's not being used for networking but just replacing a DMX jack, I guess because of size constraints?
Ethernet (RJ45) connections can be used for all sorts of stuff. We use them to route and connect multiple wires (signal/power) to keep things nice and streamlined. However, in this case I do believe space is a factor.
They make them with 3 pin DMX as well
FIRsT 🤪
This was incredibly helpful! Thank you so much! I have a random question about a game idea we have been working on, and I wanted to see if it was possible to do exclusively with the director software and Escapekeepers and a Boobox flex, But I'm still somewhat new at this. Essentially this is a game where you can play either solo or head to head against another person and there is a time limit. In the solo version you are competing just against the time limit and in the head-to-head version you are competing against both the time limit and the other person. If one player wins, the other loses, and a scene plays accordingly. Likewise, if a single player wins, a solo victory scene plays, and if either the solo or head to head lose against the clock, a fail scene plays. The way we have broken it down for simplicity sake is that both of the game stations are controlled by an individual Escapekeeper, and when triggered they just look for the puzzle to be solved and output a signal. When not triggered, the Boobox will play an ambient scene. We have two buttons to start the game, one is for solo play, the other is for head-to-head. When the solo button is pressed it sends a signal to begin the Escapekeeper, and it starts the scene in the Boobox (which has the lighting and sound elements). This scene that starts is actually the fail state, because it will continue a countdown and if it is not interrupted by the Escapekeeper sending a success signal the scene will end in failure. We were thinking to make this scene interruptible though, so if it detects a win input, it will change to scene 2, a win scene for solo play. For head to head mode it is similar, the second button also links the start up of the boo box to the Escapekeeper, but in this case it triggers both Escapekeepers to start simultaneously. In this case the Boobox starts in scene 3, which is the fail scene for head to head play. Similar to before, unless it detects an interrupting win from either of the escapekeepers it will continue to play the fail until the end. If it detects an input from Escapekeeper 2, it will jump to scene 4 (a win for Player 2 over player 1) and likewise if it detects a win output from Escapekeeper 1, it will play scene 5 (a win for Player 1 over Player 2). If neither player wins, the fail scene plays until the end. Our issue here is that with this setup the Escapekeepers only have one output possible, as it is just looking for a solve. So that means when the game is solved the Boobox will only ever get the same output coming in from it. My question is is it possible to make it so the same output (a simple win) from the Escapekeeper can trigger two possible scenes, depending on the scene the Boobox is in? So if it is in Scene 1, input 1 will trigger it to move to Scene 2, but if it is in Scene 3, input 1 will trigger it to go to Scene 4? I guess one other question or thought would be if one Escapekeeper can output one of two possible outputs depending on the input it receives to start the game. So if we trigger the game to start up using input 1, when solved it will output from output 1, and if it starts up using input 2, it will output from output 2 when solved. That would solve our scene specific issue, because it would mean the BooBox would just have to look for the head to head mode wins to move to the head to head win scenes. I apologize if this is waaaay too complicated to solve via a reply, haha, but figured if anyone would know it would be you 😅
I think what you want to do is possible. Shoot us an email from our website with this info. It's a bit of a long answer for a YT comment and needs some image attachments.
@@TestSubjects Absolutely can do!

I appreciate the tutorial, but could you *please learn how to start and finish a thought properly?* Your constant interrupts and switching between subjects are hard to listen to.
We will take your feedback into consideration in future videos. Thank you for toughing it out and sitting through it.
@@TestSubjects I'm not as angry as it may look like 🙂and I really appreciate the time and effort you put into making the tutorials, but I think it would've been easier for viewers and for you if you followed more precise script, from generic level down to more specific topics. Thank you.
@@TestSubjects this program is not good, its purposely complicated and gate keepery, I'm not an engineer i don't care about if/than logic gates i just want the music to play right in my haunted house. will a different not bad dmx program work on a flexmax 2
@@WritersOnTheWall If programming a show isn't your forte, you might want to look into hiring someone who can make your ideas come to life. Sometimes trying to do it all yourself can be very frustrating.
are you able to connect these to relays, and make it so you need multiple sensors to turn it on.
Depends on the sensor. Most two wire sensors you can run in a series so multiple have to be active to trip a relay. There is a way to wire up 2-3 proximity sensors in series but you don't wanna do more than that really.
"Things happen...." Haha, I am a newbie and found that out to be true very quickly.
I wish other suppliers were as courteous as us haha. Not sure if it's lack of forethought or ego thinking their stuff won't ever break
Great advice haha 😄
This was really helpful Good Sir. Thank you very much. I’ve been looking at these for my Ghostbusters video game proton pack. Was going to use the FlexMax with a few very small pneumatics and servos. Any suggestions?
☝☝☝
Where is part 2 and 3?
They got put on hold as some new features were coming out for director which we are doing a video on soon.
Is there a video about setting up a BooTunes as DMX slave?
No but you do it the same way. Add a DMX device, go to "DMX device" and choose Fright Ideas from the drop down menu. It's already programmed in.
Can you make (are there) bigger square LED buttons??
They make large circle one so they likely make large square ones BUT you could use a circle button under a square cut out. No one would know.
Can I replace a standard clicking today relay with a solid state one to one?
Absolutely. Solid state just means "No moving parts" generally.
Mystery uncovered!!
“…and they will, because [people] are jerks” 🤣
I have emailed numerous times I am trying to find a tutorial and or instruction for chnanging the ambient music after certain inputs are generated to the controller.....
Who have you been emailing?
Great video! Thanks for making these tutorials.
Thanks for watching them!
