No, it's just that I've worked on so many of these old Toyotas I know symptoms and where to look!

I still have Blueberry, but unfortunately the end of a tree took out the roof and rear quarter a few years ago. She'll live on in spirit helping to restore the two new ones! I have a walk around video showing it (Blueberry) on the channel if you care to check it out

Glad to hear it! There's a pretty good community of people who love these old Toyotas! I'm not sure how it is in your area but you might try and find a local club. If you're in the Northwest I can help you with that as I know a few. As far as parts go, I try and stay local, but ebay is always a good place to look if you can't find it anywhere else. With these old cars keep checking because it can take a while to find something. In the good ol' days there would be a lot of them in the junk yard but I haven't seen one in probably over 10 years now around here. Facebook groups are always a good place to start too if you need a specific part

I'm not sure, it's my friends truck I was helping him with. The 2wd Toyotas usually do pretty good though from past experience

My 87 EFI 4WD 4Runner gets about 19mph city and it weighs probably nearly twice this pickup with the insanely heavy fiberglass top, t case and front diff . Honestly not a ton better on highway and IDK why. I bet this guy's little truck gets 25mpg for sure.

Yeah I'ts a pain for sure! The best advice I can give is to try and do the deal as soon as you can, like at that same time as much as possible so they don't back down

You will for sure like part 2 then, which is when I do work on it (and fail?). Part 1 was more about getting the car and surprising my daughter than working on it

They are great cars for sure but this one was a little tricky.. be sure and see part 2 (and future part 3) on what happened to it

It was some kind of wax spray.. I was trying to polish it at that time but it didn't work very well since the gel coat was down to the flake. That was a polisher, I didn't do any sanding on the boat since it was already missing so much red it would have made it worse

High temp engine clear coat. Fine grit sand paper, cleaned it with dawn dish soap and water mixed and then rinsed with the garden hose, hope that helps!

Haha YES! When I was looking at it I remembered riding in yours when it was new and thinking how the heck a car could get that trashed in such short of time. Always liked yours so that was why I wanted to check it out
