what car is it that you used for the chassis?
👍👍👍
Water truck broken? I think on a better track you would do awesome. That’s like racing on marbles.
360 sprint car may be cool, but don’t make an impulsive decision. Gotta realize the class isn’t a big class locally around you , and you are gonna be limited on where all you can race . I definitely wouldn’t sale my mod to buy a 360.
@@davidcardwell7859 that’s why I’m just researching my options and waiting to see what the series does next season.
@@Triefenbachracing i understand that man. Don’t think I’m being rude , just giving some friendly opinions about it . Keep up the good work .
Embarrassing race track conditions. So glad we have nice tracks in East Tn .
@@davidcardwell7859 it’s like they started prepping the track 2 hours before we got there. Definitely dangerous track conditions-especially for a sprint car.
They are the ultimate addiction. At 63years old I am getting back into it. Mostly as an owner but want to get in the seat a few times a year. Haven't raced a sprinter since 1986.
Hot laps looked like everyone was the first time in a car
@@jamesswanson1139 these guys don’t frequent this track at all and the prep was sub par for sure.
Awesome opportunity man. Great job
Just wondering but do you plan on running a camera inside the car
This is awesome thanks for sharing
He will be turning wrenches before you knew it. 😊😊
I run a sbf 302 in my modified what gear are you running under that thing?
Depends on the track. Anywhere from a 5.30’s to a 6.02
@@Triefenbachracing I normally run a 3/8 track right now I’m running a 6.17 I may need to go higher
@@jayfaucett4307 what rules are you following? What tires and weight? I set my chip at 6800 and around a 3/8 I’m at a 5.55 and brush the chip on corner entry.
@@Triefenbachracing CRUSA rules Hoosier h500 tires and 2600lbs
@@jayfaucett4307 that seems like a high gear. What’s your build specs on it?
Hell of a race BAM BAM always enjoy watching your videos keep up the racing BAM BAM
Great to see you've got her back on the track. What RPM are you turning ?
Max is 6800 to match the crates for comparison. I didn’t put a girdle on this motor so I really don’t want to turn more that 7000.
@@Triefenbachracing Thanks, and I was curious whether or not you were using a Girdle on this one. Do you know any the guys running a stock block 302 and having success turning over 7000 RPM?
@@chestrockwell8328 not without a girdle. A girdle doesn’t keep the block together, it keeps the main caps from walking at higher rpm. Only time will tell how this one works without one, but I’ll be the first to let y’all know if it doesn’t make it lol. If you have your stuff balanced I’m sure 7k would be fine-but definitely pushing it.
@@Triefenbachracing There are certainly all sorts of internet talk about these little SBF 302 ranging from nearly indestructible to splitting clean in half. Rarely does anyone talk specifics on a failure. Mine is internally balanced, forged, girdle and something like 150 grams per piston/rod lighter than stock. I believe you nailed a big culprit by addressing your knock issue.
Awesome job man. I love the knowledge you bring on this channel good stuff
How's it held up for you guys?
It’s been awesome! Working out a few electrical issues here and there but it tows the racecar just fine. Stopping is a little sketchy because my trailer doesn’t have brakes, but for local use, going down little 2 lane roads it’s just right.
If you put a top treatment on the dirt your set
Don’t make it a stinger because it’s very slow. Enduro yea because it will last and you don’t have to be fast. If you daily it it gets great gas mileage so overall 500 you got a steal
If you keep it and build it, it might bring more people to your channel. Alot of people like these little rice burners.
You should slide under your truck and look the frame over from back to just below the cab! The car you get it fixed and then drive it for a bit then see what it tells you! The money in gas will pay for the car!
Nice car. Do you race at merced Speedway in California
Hola no hablo inglés soy de 🇨🇱 Chile busco motor gime Ford para comprar y traer a mi País
Make a mold. You can make your own nose pieces. But. It was hat one. The flatter one is easier to make.
What did you do with the mini late model? How did you like racing it?
I was only driving it for the car owner to fill the class. They handle like a go kart honestly and I’m not a fan of the rule package after running it after a bit.
@@Triefenbachracing Im racing karts at the moment. Was thinking of jumping to either mini late models or mod lights after this season. You like the mod lights better?
Would a sealed IMCA motor before cost effective?
New 604’s are around $10k. Used up motors you can find for $5k.
I have one of these for sale and I’m wondering what you paid for yours? Mine only has about 89k miles on it and has been perfectly maintained.
I paid 12k for this one with 30k something miles.
Hey brother, love what you’ve been putting out.Looking for sponsorship opportunities. Please let me know if interested.
bullet cams specked out those same valve springs for me, but the thing is we have a cam.lift rule. the open pressure on those springs are 325 but thats at .550 lift , we have to run a .425 so the open pressure for me at max lift was only 265! valve float at about 6200! just discussed this with another wmployee from bullet and he is the one that figured out what was going on . so guess what??? you guessed it, had to buy another set of springs. waiting for them to come in so we can see of they help. when folks have less knowledge about the parts that they are selling, just cost me more $$$$.
I had those style felpro intake gaskets leak on our sport mod twice.... I now use only the gaskets with the steel shim inside. if you have that intake off again, you may get the steel shim style gaskets.... should be the same part number with an S on the end
I'm having my share of frustration with machine shops as well. Also I have a nice new SBF flat tappet cam and solid lifters that would likely suit your type of application well for sell. What sort of RPM range do you operate in with your racing? I do Road course stuff.
Around 7000 but as much as 7800
@@Triefenbachracing Nice, and you have good reliability with the stock sbf blocks?
@@chestrockwell8328 that’s what I’m fixin to find out lol. A main cap girdle that I installed it to keep the caps from walking, not to keep the block together. Because I’m running NA and no boost or anything it should be fine and I’ve read others having no issues with it.
@@Triefenbachracing Cool, we are on the same path then. I'm also using a girdle, though some say its a total waste while others say there is a benefit. My engine build is slightly different with aluminum heads, forged crank, rods, pistons all zero/neutral balanced but otherwise very much the same as yours. No boost, no high shock load drag racing launches, moderate horse power, properly tuned...I don't see why your or mine shouldn't last...we will see. Good luck at your race.
The cam retainer bolt washer is intended to cover the dowel, to keep the dowel from backing out during harmonics. It will back out. The fix is to just grind the face of the dowel down flush with the fuel pump eccentric.
Question, does imca allow for the 302 to be stroked?
Yes, for an A-Mod. I don’t think so for the sport mods.
There are 3 things I can do to that 1/18 late out of the box to make .3 tenths quicker and you won't be able see it.
What’s that? Breaking in the differential, bearings, and tie rods?
That thing looked like a meth missile before the extra coat of paint😂
that child will be a speedway runner
I own three FORD one 1938 copue 1939 deluxe sedan 4 doors and a FORD 1940 deluxe sedan coupe two doors man that I carry in my soul Henry Ford the man farmer who gave work to everyone God bless him
I see many relatives of the runners. I hope everything goes back to how it used to be and in the 70s many people went to watch the races and there was work for everyone so they don't steal your dreams.
Very good car number 18 nowadays motorsports are very expensive all over the world I am a follower of BLILL BLAIR FORD driver 1940
What surface is this for?
i race them all the track i know run carpet if you look in the (build a track) on the website it states to use carpet
How did this run on the track?
Great video!
Y'all make money racing them cars 🚗
It's called a rod journal.
Awesome video man. One question. I noticed you counted the cylinders in line putting 1234 all on one side. Is that only for a ford? I was told it’s 1357 on one side and 2468 on the other. Just curious
Yessir that’s only for a ford
@@Triefenbachracing awesome. Learned something new today. Excited to see this take shape man. Learning a lot. Thanks
I noticed you put the pistons in backwards but the piston pins are centered.
They are offset slightly that’s why I put them in backwards. I talked about it towards the end of the video. Thanks for watching man!
@@Triefenbachracing I forgot they were my mistake. Are you worried about scuffing the skirts because that’s usually a side effect due to the thrust side being reversed?
@@twinturbocoyoteftw no sir I am not. If this was a build for a daily then I wouldn’t recommend it. But in a season I go about 150mi worth around a track.
Arent those threaded holes around the girdle , for a windage tray or screen?
It could be, but the moroso tray is installed with the main caps. They offered one for a 4.6/5.4 with bolt holes that could work.
Dude put some good parts into your build. I am a Ford guy and you can do way better. I have many chevy motors for my IMCA friends . If you want to win you need a good engine. One rule that applies to all engines is horsepower Is made on the top end . Reliability comes on the bottom with good oiling and cooling systems.
If you haven’t watched his previous video he explains why he’s using this stuff. He knows what he’s doing.
I wouldn’t say I know what I’m doing. I’m f*ckin clueless 😂😂
@@Triefenbachracing I mean you read directions. That’s more than most at home engine builders 🤣
Enjoy your videos and thank you for your service
