My adult son is a quadriplegic. This is pretty cool but in reality who can afford something like this? We can’t even afford a simple system that would assist in getting my son out of his bed and into his wheelchair let alone move him around the house.

I just got this for my wife. Great machine. There are limitations to be aware off. If my wife doesn't catch herself in time and leans into the walker, her forward push will cause the machine to slide on the braked wheels. Smooth floors are the worst when that happens. Uneven/curved sidewalks where the wings of driveways slant can cause one of the braked wheels to lose traction, causing the walker to swing in an arc. That could possibly be prevented if it had one other locking wheel. Even though she can rapidly climb stairs (then freeze at the top) we were surprised that the laser really did help with crossing thresholds and changes in floor texture/color. I highly recommend this machine. Even though these following suggestions would make the machine too hard to lift, I would like to modify one for home use with stickier compound on the wheels, perhaps a 4 wheel brake system and a base about 20 pounds heavier. I tried weights at the very bottom and found that the wheels did not slide as easily. The extra weight also kept the walker from sliding too easily if my wife froze and the walker was far ahead of her. Thank you U-Step..
