Miraculous Ladybug: Marinette
Here is my completed character analysis for Marinette Dupain-Cheng which ended up being longer than I expected. I had so much love for this character until they ruined her. Like and subscribe for more videos like this. Follow my socials:

Just to clarify, I am not a Chloe stan but I still think they could have done soooo much more with her character. English isn't my first language so some of my pronunciations will be off...just go with it. Don't forget to like and subscribe! I got the screenshots of Thomas' tweets from a tumblr called the Immaturity of Thomas Astruc. They have pretty good content so you guys should check them o...

I think the sentimonster Adrien plot twist is so bad - I never liked it as a theory (in the way that it was fun seeing people speculate, but I didn't like the implications of it being canon), and I hate it being canon It just removes so much to Adrien's character - he's not an abused child who struggles to communicate with his father because of how cold he is to him, no, he's in fact just programmed to do that Like ?? why ??? It removes the need for character growth on his part, because now that there is no one to control him, he can just - do whatever !! He's not a bit too innocent and gullible because he was cut from the world and didn't have enough social interactions when he needed those, no, it's just that he's *programmed* to be sweet and gullible and has a hard time understanding *real* humans !! That just blocks the suggestion of character growth by stating he can never have it in our faces, "because that's just how he is" He's not different from Chloe Bourgeois in the fact that they were both rich friends, but she turned out like this because she wasn't loved enough by her mother and he turned out like that because he was loved by his mother and lost her, noooo no no, he's just *PROGRAMMED TO BE LIKE THAT* !!! And so is Chloe by the way, except she's just a shit human. Perhaps it could be better of a story arc if it was handled differently, but let's be honest, we should have never expected anything from the guy that cancelled the Chloe redemption arc And yes, if he hadn't been made a sentimonster, just look at all the character growth we could have followed, had Adrien been made the MC !!! I rest my case.
Bro was written to have 0 personality and he was SO forced to be the damsel in distress.
It could be fun to watch Chat Noir vs Chat Blanc. Adrien fighting his own alternative futureself🥰😁.
1:53 You did NOT hallucinate that scene, girl. Alix did in fact whisper that question to Rose that it was weird and Rose responded that she thought it was so romantic. Alix is one of the only sane people on the whole show.
Why do you think she gets the rabbit?
I sub just found your channel 😊
People can be victims and villains at the same time. Rashats upbringing was horrible and one can call it an understatement, but it isn’t an excuse for her to do the things she’s done. She still ruined people’s reputation therefore ruining lives. And once she got her friend killed, the one who helped her to escape in the first place and KNEW he would get severely punished, I lost all sympathy for Rashta. And in the novel, she didn’t just want her son Ian to disappear. She wanted him to either sold into slavery or dead. Her tragic backstory doesn’t erase the unforgivable things she’s done to innocent people who did nothing to her, to do bad things to people who actually TRY to help her, or to do terrible things to her own children. There’s never a free pass to be a bully, a manipulator, a gaslighter, a murderer, a child abuser, a traitor, etc.
I think if he was the main character the show would be more depressing but I for one would love that. Marinette annoys me a lot, I still don't hate her but Adrien's life would make for a more mature cartoon which I'd love to see
Sameeee
dude create a AU where Cat Noir was the main character, That would be interesting
Yeah That’s a great idea
In my story, I try to give "screen time" to all the characters I made into heroes - Marinette, Adrien, Chloé, Zoé, Nino, Alya, Luka, and Kagami.
The truth is that people can be victims and cruel at the same time; simply look at the actual world and observe how some people, even being victimized by terrible systematic injustice, continue to do awful things.
I also have a bone to pick with the whole Thomas Astruc drama llamas. Especially with theimmaturityofthomasastruc by far. Maybe at some point and time it was about conducting criticism towards a creator that appeared to be too fussy towards their fans. Now? It's "Oh, look. Thomas made a social faux-pas. Thomas blocked you like literally any other Twitter user would. Thomas doesn't listen to criticism that comes from a place of unchecked anger." It reduces a human who's... just a dude at the end of the day into a fandom punching back. I saw this with Steven Moffat when his Doctor Who run was going and the fandom got BAD. Lies, misinformation, quotes taken out of context from years ago, etc. It was cancel culture before it was cool. Like... I might be hypocritical for this because I've fallen down the Lily Orchard rabbit hole myself. But Lily is somebody going beyond having bad takes and has displayed a pattern of toxicity in her relationships as well as with her own fans. Thomas Astruc? I don't agree with all that he writes, barring the times he had to appease the multiple production teams Miraculous acquired, buuuuuuuut he's generally just some guy. Hell, he's pretty far left if you took the time to look at his Twitter feed (not that politics and morality always overlap). Until tangible accusations come forth about him, I'm sorry to say that theimmaturityofthomasastruc is, well, ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. And NO, that one video essay about the woes of the Miraculous fandom isn't going to sway me. I am done, done, done, dooooooooooooone with giving this kind of discourse the time of day. Especially when similar cases in other fandoms have turned well and truly ugly. I beseech the Miraculous fandom to see the red flags that have been waving this whole time. Somebody is going to get hurt. I have seen it all before. So should you. This Scapegoat Showrunner phenomenon had done too much damage to many fandoms.
There are two different types of narcissists. First: Grandiose. People with grandiose narcissism have high self-esteem, a sense of superiority, and a tendency to overestimate their abilities and importance. They may also be dominant, aggressive, and exploit others. Grandiose narcissists may also have positive illusions about themselves and repress information that doesn't fit their inflated self-image. I believe Sovieshu is a grandiose narcissist. Second: Vulnerable. People with vulnerable narcissism may be insecure, hypersensitive, and have a constant need for validation. They may also have a negative view of the past, be distrustful, and have difficulty maintaining relationships. Vulnerable narcissists may also hide their narcissism behind some sort of facade, usually self-doubt or naivety. I grew up with a narcissist. As a result, this comic deeply triggered me, but not due to Sovieshu. (That doesn't mean I don't hate him, and I'll get into that later.) Rashta triggered me. At first, I did feel for her. She was a girl in an impossible situation, and it was horrible and traumatic without a doubt. Seducing the emperor made perfect sense to me, and I didn't judge her for that. I didn't judge her for the PTSD she has involving her children. None of those things were her fault, and those who complain about them are deluding themselves. What triggered me was how Rashta operates. She uses a veil of naivety to get away with saying and doing things that are at best uncalled for and, at worst, horrendously cruel. She manipulates people (and it's clear she is manipulating them, there are scenes of her talking about those plans of manipulation) and uses Navier as her scapegoat to create common enemy intimacy with Sovieshu and drive a wedge between them. She tortured a bird to make Navier look bad. She deliberately tried to take things that she knew Navier loved and systematically pushed her out of her own home bit by bit. And all the while, she retains a victim mentality of everyone else being out to get her when it was her own terrible actions that led to people disliking and distrusting her. Those who haven't met or dealt with people like this before have no idea how bad it truly is to be made enemy #1 in your own home. And some people try to justify it by saying Navier deserved this treatment or should have expected it? Expect the affair, maybe, as Sovieshu has always been a selfish and delusionally self-important man. But expect to be slandered, mocked, and bullied? Also, on a slightly unrelated note, Navier's brother is trash and should be thrown in the ocean.
Furthermore, the Mary Sue thing? That's a really shaky foundation, using something that has been historically been massively sexist. Often putting female characters under the sort of scrutinity male characters of similar traits (though not always the same beat for beat) would get to such intensity. I recommend Trope Talk's video on the matter: ua-cam.com/video/H2-GIY9RTqU/v-deo.html But no, Marinette is not a Mary Sue. You can dislike her characterization or how her character journey shakes out but a lot of the usual Mary Sue accusation do not hold water.
I admit that my argument for her being a mary sue wasn't very strong and that's coz the entire video was supposed to dissect that but halfway through I decided I just wanted to talk about her character. I already know where I stand on that argument coz I've watched quite a few video essays that have proved their claims with receipts. I have also watched the video you recommended and it just solidifies my initial view of Marinette. She is a mary sue. Not because she's overpowered(I mention that a good chunk of my fav characters are op), not because she's a female character (I am someone who will go above and beyond to defend female character but I will still call out bad writing), but coz certain show writers will go above and beyond to ensure Marinette is seen as the best (class rep, loved by everyone except villains, strongest powers even tho ladybug and cat miraculous are supposed to be equal, implied to have nothing to learn from Su Han in being a guardian even tho he's been in that game longer, etc) regardless of whether they have to retcon info (her backstory that was included after the writers received backlash for portraying her as a stalker and etc), strip characters of their character arcs and personalities (adrien, kagami, chloe) or tell us she's just so great that she can make magical charms because the power was always within her. I think it's also ironic that the top comment on that video has quite a few people who are claiming that she is a mary sue after watching the video. Idc if you like her, you can do that, and you can also believe what you want to believe about her characterization, but I do think she's a mary sue and that video and the comments reinforce my belief.
I'm not sure we'll have the same top comment tho coz of algorithm and stuff so ignore that last part if you don't see the comment
@@thexreaderspeaks I hope my comments aren't terribly antagonistic. I just... feel like there's an imbalance when it comes to discussion about Miraculous. Especially when it feels less like judging the series for what it is and more so for what it isn't yet never claimed to be.
@@matt0044 Oh they're not. I made this channel to have such discussions so it's ayt. And ya, I agree that most people can be biased against Miraculous but I think it's because the writers have lost our trust and constantly spit in our faces (especially when a certain head writer goes as far as trying to gaslight chloe fans coz the wanted a redemption arc, he's rude to people who have a differing opinion about the direction the show should take, and there are constant nonsensical retcons). The miraculous writers constantly fail their audience and I think that's why said audience is so critical of it. The magic system and premise is really good (The characters are also really lovable in szn one and two) and make the show have so much potential to be someday in the same league as Avatar the last airbender so I think seeing the writers constantly fumble that bag is what makes people frustrated because they see what it could have been.
@@thexreaderspeaks First: I don't like the "next Avatar" comment because it feels like there's this standard Miraculous never set out to meet. Have they really failed us or are we not willing to meet them in the middle? Second: Chloe’s Failed Redemption Arc works and is something we don’t get very often. Now… I get why some might’ve felt cheated out of a redemption arc they were getting into around Season 2. There is a compelling story about “the worst” given a chance to actually reflect upon herself and become better despite how low she could go. However, I can’t hate how her corruption arc turned out because of how well it was handled. Sometimes, a slowburn reformation can make for an interesting story but something that’s equally valuable can be how not everyone sticks the landing. Be it circumstances or their own undoing, some people will turn back around and decide that bettering themselves isn’t worth it. Like it or not, Season 2′s finale showed her willing to be a team player yet still be a bit of a glory hog vs-a-vie insisting on her hero name above all else. While a small gag, her forgetting the magic words shows that she’s not exactly has been working on her better nature. Come Season 3, we get moments from various episodes where she insists to Ladybug on getting in on the action. They’re small moments that can be viewed mostly in any order starting with “Bakerix” having her ask Chat if Queen Bee could get in on this. With my order on Netflix, “Miracular” showed her already breaking out the Bee Signal when new reporters mentioned Carapace and Rena Rogue. Though Ladybug lays down how this was to be Queen Bee’s last hurrah, we end on Chloe refusing to accept it. Her exact words being, “I will always be Queen Bee.” After this we get Stormy Weather 2 and StarTrain where she’s hoping to wear down Ladybug. Even with the Horse Miraculous, she was turned down when trying to put her hero on the spot around others. Thus Heart Hunter is the straw that breaks the camel’s back. This wasn’t out of nowhere nor an arbitrary decision from the writers just because. She had a good heart, yes, but her self-centered nature tipped the scales when Hawk Moth offered her not just her Miraculous but EVERY Miraculous in the box.
This whole thing was originally in response to your Adrien video but I felt it was more suited for this: I’ve seen similar hot takes on Miraculous on who of the two heroes should actually take center stage, often siding with Adrien. I mean, why not right? He’s the more troubled one with his sheltered upbringing and estranged relationship with his father. Said father turns out to be the primary antagonist of the series with the kid’s mother being the catalyst (not the Akuma) for the overarching plot. Plus, Plagg plays off him perfectly. What does Marinette have? A mad crush? Klutzy moments passed down by Usagi Tsukino herself? She’s got a healthy relationship with her family and Kwami so where’s the narrative tension? As far as Season One goes, we get basic superhero shenanigans with her often trying to avoid being exposed but there is some subtle growth to her. In “Origins,” we see Marinette not as Ladybug when first facing Stoneheart but as Marinete in a red suit with black spot. All the while, Adrien has embraced his Chat Noir persona fully with flirt to spare. As she tells her partner, she’s “super clumsy.” Marinette prods herself into the superhero role more than she takes charge, repeating tells herself to trust herself. Of course, she proves to be a natural with her Lucky Charm and MacGuyvering skills to help recover Ivan quickly. Yet when she seems to come out on top and growing into her own superhero persona up, her oversight in not purifying the Akuma rears its ugly head. Suddenly, her self-doubts pulls her back and make her renounce Tikki. Come Part 2, Marinete find Alya in imminent danger and decides that she can’t not be a hero anymore. This is symbolized in the proper debut of her full transformation sequence compared to her first one that was totally rushed. This time she is Ladybug, crafting a new identity that’s far more empowered than the normal girl with a normal life she usually is. She throws Hawk Moth’s declaration of war back in his face of butterflies, purifying them all at once. To top it off, she performs her very first Miraculous Ladybug to fix the damage. Ladybug was born at last while Adrien took to being Chat Noir like Plagg to cheese. However, we still get subtle moments of Ladybug’s Marinette poking out such as in “The Bubbler” where she has a Lucky Charm used more selfishly. However, she’s quick to regret the waste of power more than others might’ve. It’s actually clear why Marinette was never seen as Ladybug’s true identity with how un-Marinette Ladybug is. I could go on but I’d largely be repeating points I made in my previous post on Miraculous’s episodic story structure being a feature and less a flaw. I will say that throughout Season One, both Marinette and Adrien don’t have a Zordon-like figure to answer to. They don’t have somebody to prompt them into fighting villains. Similar to Code Lyoko, these kids just choose to save the world. This is important because it is what Master Fu needed from those bearing the most powerful Miraculous from his Order. Those who do it not for the glory or on anybody’s orders but rather because they know its the right thing to do. He didn’t have them answer to him for any guidance or training (yet) but rather planted the seeds so they may cultivate themselves. Thus by the end of Season One, Marinette was ready to meet the Guardian after proving herself more than worthy and commence her true character arc. Throughout Season Two and Three, we see Marinette clearly being close with Master Fu. Close enough that when in “Sapotis,” she doesn’t need any of the Miraculous explained to her in the moment since he clearly gave a rundown on them in the event new heroes were needed. What he helped with here was her judgement in who could worthy of such great powers and which powers at that. This further continues with how “Kwamibuster” shows her pulling over a gambit that relied heavily on her knowledge of each Miraculous, utilizing the Mouse’s completely out of the blue as if it were second nature. This not only helped secure her secret identity more but it demonstrated her potential as a Guardian to Master Fu. Thus helping to cement his decision in “Feast.” It’s not immediately apparent since it can feel like the typical Mentor offer the token guidance but then we come to Miracle Queen. Pressed to protect the Miracle Box, Jade Turtle passed the title of Guardian to Ladybug. Not just because his options were limited but because he truly believes in her. His memory loss even falls under the “Mentor Death” trope to top it all off. Normally, that’d cap off her Hero’s Journey but far from it. Season Four has certainly delivered on this by having Ladybug truly feel the pressures of not only safeguarding one or two Miraculous but all of them from the more powerful Shadow Moth. “Truth” and “Gang of Secrets” are notable in how they show just how much of a toll this takes on her life as Marinette. And with Chat Noir feeling out of her loop, I’d say her troubles are just beginning. That’s as spoiler-y as I’ll get. However, lest we forget how “Timetagger” showed that Ladybug would lead a team of superheroes well into adulthood. Marinette isn’t just a good protagonist for Miraculous but a great one too. She starts out fairly “Vanilla” but that ice cream gets decorated into an ice cream sundae full of heart and charm. Would the show centering around Adrien be a good angle to approach it from too? Um… yeah, sure. But it wouldn’t be the Miraculous that I continue to enjoy myself. Marinette Dupain-Cheng is why the show works more than it has any right to. Adrien’s role for this is honestly better reserved for the big WHAM moments within Marinette’s more down-to-Earth life (as heroes go).
I think I mention this in one of my videos but I initially really liked how they were both important in season one because I think the way they parallel each other was really nice. My frustration is that the writer's butchered her character and pushed adrien into the sidelines for what they think is feminism. So I have to disagree that Marinette is a great protagonist for Miraculous. Her writing in season one and two was strong but it's just gone downhill from there. She could have been a great protagonist, but the writers blatant favoritism and refusal to let her face consequences for her mistakes, acknowledge them, and learn from them really screws over her character. That is why I cannot put her in the same category as great protagonists. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion tho and thx for watching.
@@thexreaderspeaks The increased importance of Ladybug is kind of the point of the escalation battle against Hawk Moth. Especially in Season 4 where a very intentional subplot is Chat Noir feels alienated due to Ladybug's being mad Guardian on top of the new heroes she adds to their ranks. At first, she only had one hero as a partner. Blunt force to compliment her more strategic mind. It's Season 4's finale where she loses everything that it clicks for Adrien. This isn't the time to act like he's the only one with problems especially when confidentiality is essential against an empath of an enemy. In fact, this is why he gives Plagg the ring and allows him to go to Ladybug for her confrontation with Monarch. He's in no condition to properly wield the power of Destruction and has to put the greater good first. I feel this slow burn approach works for Adrien, especially since Lila as the new Moth Holder will have Gabriel being Monarch is her back pocket to use against Ladybug. I just feel you leave out a bit of context.
@@matt0044 you can't convince me that the writers had to write it that way because the miraculous movie written by Jeremy Zag allowed both heroes to be present for the fight and it was infinitely better even though it was rushed. One of the head writers of the series has made it clear that he wants Mari to be more loved, so he does whatever he can to make sure that happens and her character suffers as a result. You don't have to see it that way tho. Maybe we just see things differently and that's ok. I think most fans including me feel cheated out of an emotional payoff (when it comes to the ending) that was promised to us. This is mostly because Adrien finding out that his father is the terrorist would have been such a powerful moment. It won't hit the same when he does find out in the series that his dad was monarch coz he can't even confront him about it. So in the end the certain writer's favoritism of Mari negatively impacts the story.
@@thexreaderspeaks I mean... the movie is the movie and the show is the show. The movie spedrun Gabriel's time as a villain where he akumatizes himself for the final boss after a timeline shorter than Season 1. By comparison, the show took a different direction and for the best since the movie just being the show but shorter would've been boring. In retrospect, it’s pretty clear why Adrien wasn’t there to learn Monarch was his father in The Final Day. I was weirded out by that myself buuuuuuut my thoughts came to realize how it worked. Namely because “Chat Blanc” and “Ephemeral” each explained why. His intense emotions over seeing his mother and learning his father became a villain in order to save her would be too good of an opportunity to akumatize him against Ladybug. Thus Adrien benching himself is essentially the reason why Marinette was able to knock the Moth Miraculous off Gabriel and talk him down. However… this only means that there’s an extra layer of despair painted upon what would’ve been Adrien’s angst over his father’s dark secret. Clearly, his father’s “sacrifice” is what keeps him going in believing his final moments were heroic. So what happens when Adrien learns that not only was his father trying to bring back Emilie and became a villain to do so but that he also went out after causing Operation: Alliance to start with. No way to confront his father about this reveal and even Nathalie would be hard pressed for a straight answer. Hell, I can imagine him crossing the line and forcing Plagg to spill the beans at his direct command. He and Marinette have been good in never, if ever, enforcing rules upon Tikki or Plagg so… woo. And with Lila likely possessing this information be it from what Hoaxer got out of Nathalie or Nooroo, something tells me that we’re in for something far, FAR worse than Chat Blanc if that’s even feasibly possible. Perhaps only that the Lucky Charm can’t easily undo. Aaaaaaaaaand that’s why there was more of a benefit to keep Adrien to the side for Season 5’s finale. If you can’t feel the storm that’s slowly brewing, better get an umbrella now.
@@matt0044 I mean, I guess it could lead to a big blowup and maybe an even better emotional payoff if the writers stick to it (Tho given their track record I don't have much trust in them to write sth good). However, I still think the ending is just bad writing. Let me know how they build off of it tho(if you want to of course) coz I rage quit the show years ago.
Yes, marinette is a bad character for many reasons👎 It broke my heart what thomas did to adrien when he made marinette date him💔 she does not deserve him whether as ladybug when she treats chat noir badly or as adrien for ruining his life🪦 Also, she does not like his true personality😔adrien deserves a girl who loves him for who he is and respects him. don't lie to him and don't be obsessed and stalker, and this made me hate her even more because she got him and she didn't deserve him😭
The worst is that she lied about his father… I never dated someone but who would want to be with someone lying to you all the time especially when it’s about you’re father ?
Umm she’s not that bad no offense, but you do have a good point
Does anyone else think it's weird that she doesn't have a bodyguard when she is literally the mayor's daughter?
Great video! Marrinette/Ladybug is a bad character wasted by Thomas’ terrible writing and her Dersion backstory is such BS.
Thank you! I was starting to think my video ended up on the wrong side of youtube
You cannot steal someone, thatbperson was never yours to begin with.
When she is ladybug she is displayed as Mary sue (kwami buster, feast, ect) but as marinette she is far from Mary sue But I actually love her 😅😅
4:51 I did notice her panicking in that episode, but I think that was about it
You just made me rewatch the episode and the only time she panics is when Alya jokingly suggests that Adrien would do to Marinette the same thing Chloe did to Kim but thank you because I noticed 2 more problems. 1. Marinette is all smiles around Kim (the way she acts around him makes them seem like friends, even) and even looks into the box that he is holding which in my opinion she should have hesitated to do because of her "trauma". Some would say they made up and Kim apologized but Kim didn't seem to feel remorse for what he did when he was retelling the story in derision so I don't think he apologized or even saw it as wrong. 2. It's weird that Alya never makes an out off pocket comment saying that Kim is getting karma or it's ironic that he's getting humiliated by Chloe like he humiliated Marinette. I would assume Alya would know about the prank since they're best friends 3. She also doesn't know everything about Adrien at this point because she's really only known him for a few days (I assume) so why would she risk telling him her feelings? It's ok if you like Marinette but don't defend the writers for their mediocre writing.
1:24 what do you mean physically abusive you could argue in Glaciator but like he was Harassinv her at that point 1:27 Hypocrital well you could argue about that however it's not all black and white in some situations like Chloè chose to reveal identity and endanger people whilst the rest of the of holders apart Kagami didn't do it willingly 3:16 well she is doing it to show Children what not to do she pretty never gets closer with Adrien ahe does it and in the Season 4 Finale Alya calls her out it saying she has gone to far with it and she realises her mistakes and stops trying to control her while her conseqences does get her in Jail does not mean she has no conseqences 3:37 It's not Justified does the episode show us why she is like this yes does it make what she did 1:38 Adrien,Alya and Tikki have never been demonized 4:32 yeah the biggest retcon in this show Not as bad Representation or Stormy weather 6:53 well those all come from the miraculous anyone in possesion can do that if they want to and Gabriel also used serveral miraculouses too the only reason she lasted longer is because she was spilt into different copies of the indivdual so she was only using 2 at a time for each copy 9:13 she does faces conseqences just not in the you way want her to face conseqences so instead of like getting people screaming her or getting she like works on herself and tries to fix what she has done or Volpina where Adrien calls her out in the park and Lila is still against her 10:08-11:05 Adrien as Adrien and Adrien as Cat noir is still very much the real Adrien and she does try to get to know him better and help each other with each others struggles like the only parts I like about Derision is the end where Marinette is reach her hand but isn't ready yet and she also tries to help him stand up to his Father 11:41 it's fine but a bit plain for her this is why I prefer her newer outfit in Season 6 aprt from the shorts with tights new shirt and jacket with her old pants sold 13:30 uhm Questionable
1. I've seen her hit cat noir with her yoyo quite a few times but yes, glaciator is excusable coz cat noir was harassing her 2. It doesn't matter whether they revealed their identity willingly or not because that doesn't change the fact that their identity is known. There are no ifs and buts in the rule that has been reiterated by ladybug more than once. In Kagami's case, ladybug went against the rule for selfish reasons: to get her away from Adrien. So ya, hypocritical. 3. If a bad behavior is almost never corrected (until the writers get backlash for it) then it shows that teaching children to not do that wasn't the intention. Thomas doesn't think her stalking is bad btw. They almost never show her facing consequences for her stalking and realizing that its a problem due to the consequences. As a matter of fact, as of season 5 finale, she gets the guy. So most kids prolly won't see much of a problem with her behavior 4. The writers making that episode after Marinette was losing popularity and they were getting backlash for her writing suggests that they were trying to justify her actions 5. I was mostly talking about Su Han tbh but ig your right tho they rarely ever call her out. 6. Sorry I don't understand your sentence 7. Yeah the powers come from the miraculous but who made it that way? My video is critiquing the writers who wrote Marinette just as much as it's critiquing Marinette. 8. Yeah I think I mention Volpina being one of the only times she faces consequences and that was season one. I'm pretty sure I also praise the character writing in szn 1 and 2. She barely ever faces consequences to that degree until Felix steals all the miraculous. And no, the consequences I want her to face are not people screaming at her (I don't know where you got that), I want her neglect of chat noir to cause him to leave, her stalking tendencies to have people call her out and Adrien to avoid her coz he's creeped out, her hypocrisy to cause characters who are presented as good people to no longer like her (creates more nuance than if an already bad character starts hating her) things like those that make sense narratively. I don't want her to suffer for the sake of suffering, I want her consequences to be a direct result of sth wrong she did that makes sense narratively. 9. Adrien as Adrien constantly complains about not feeling free and he even tries to suggest to Kagami when they were a thing that the persona he presents to the world is what his father wants him to be but not who he really is (when Kagami tells him to stop being silly) so I don't agree that that's also his real self. As someone with strict parents I understand how you can hide all the parts that make you who you really are but hate every part of that fake persona. while Mari does try to know him better, you can't tell me that she isn't in love with an idealized version of him (that's what most crushes, unless the person is your friend, usually cause) 10. I still think they could have tried harder with her new fit because may I repeat, she is an aspiring fashion designer and shorts and tights are just not stylish (coming from someone who used to think they were the epitome of fashion) It looks cute but it doesn't tell us anything about her character. 11. Don't quote me on it but it's widespread speculation and Mari's father is literally called Tom and Thomas even has another self insert in the show so I don't think it's really far fetched that Mari is allegedly his imaginary daughter with his ex.
My favorite Marinette defender is here
Uhm hi?
No hate course I'm down for a respectful discussion regarding this, that being said Marinette is far from a Mary Sue honestly and the arguments in this video to defame her character don't hold much water But it might be better if i cover this in a response video so i could really get my points in order
My bad. Halfway through the video I decided I didn't really want to try and determine whether she is a mary sue and I just wanted to talk about her character and that's what I did but I kept the original title. The is marinette a mary sue section is really the only one that is in line with the argument and I didn't give it a good conclusion. I'll just change the title. And you don't have to make a video to convince me she's not a mary sue, I've already watched a bunch of videos that analyze her character and give good evidence to support the claim that she is a mary sue. Of course you are entitled to your own opinion and can still make a response video if you want. Let me know if you do, I would love to hear the points that argue against this claim.
What do you guys think about this character?
She is my favourite character
@@IshikaGiri-vs5qkmine too
Guys the show isn’t cannon to miraculous the movie clearly is
Sofia is a way better character than marinette
Way better!
FRR Sofia at least makes mistakes and She faces the consequences of her actions and at least she is not a creepy Stalker
Agreed! Adrien is way more interesting than Marrinette! Also yes! Sofia the First is great MC and better than Marinette because Sofia is actually kind and sweet to others and is not bias and choosing who to be kind to and who not to. She is kind to everyone.
the night vision part was only used in the first epsode of season 1 and the bad luck part was one of the og.concepts back when Felix was the one to play the role of Chat Noir before they desided on Adrien and before they made Felix,Adrien*s cousin
that's interesting
Marinette is not a Mary sue
The dictionary description of mary sue: a type of female character who is depicted as unrealistically lacking in flaws or weaknesses. Ladybug literally unlocks the secret to giving special powers to miraculous holders and creating magical charms because she believes in herself. Everybody loves her and the ones that don't are villains. She barely ever faces consequences even though she messes up so many times. She is the only one able to handle a ton of miraculouses at once and she is really powerful as ladybug despite the fact that the cat and ladybug miraculous are supposed to be equal in power. Look if you want to like the show I'm not going to stop you but I respectfully disagree. Marinette is a mary sue.
She gets them from the miraculous and once she loses them she is done for and not facing Conseqences does not make you a Mary sue Chloè,Lila and Tomoe faces little to no conseqences for their actions and they clearly aren't Mary sues and Marinette does face conseqences just not the ones you want her to face whenever she "stalks" Adrien because it's creepy she doesn't reach her goal it's only when she's herself then she is getting closer to him and Alya even calls her out on it and she stops with it Gabriel also managed to that she only managed to be weakened by mutiplying herself so only one individual of her was using 2 at a time
@@Owell_Owl Chloe, Lila, and Tomoe are villains, they are not the main character. It doesn't hurt the story that much if villains or side characters are overpowered and they barely face consequences (Apart from being a bit unsatisfying ) but it does if the main character is like that. Also, that's not true, everyone hates Chloe, she left Paris, her mom and dad don't love her, she doesn't get to be a miraculous holder anymore, and she's replaced by her half sister. Lila will get defeated eventually and I honestly don't know about Tomoe because I rage quit the show. No hard feelings tho, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
She "stalks" Adrien to show children what not to do in life
@@Owell_Owl 🤣🤣that's the thing. I don't wanna talk about her being Mary sue because nowadays, people just start calling almost anyone(ok not just anyone but still) a mary sue, so forget that. But the problem is they advertise it as a "kids show", make Marinette do weird things like stalking(and many other), and she doesn't face any consequences for those things. So basically, a "kids show" is actively encouraging that stalking your crush is a good thing and there is nothing wrong in doing those things. You said "She stalks Adrien to show children what not to do in life", but the show never depicts stalking as bad, so how are kids supposed to know that stalking is actually bad and people face consequences for it, when they are watching a superhero show where the MC actively stalks and no one criticizes her but some even encourage her. S show is showing "She stalks Adrien to show children what to do in life with their crush or whatever".
Well it takes more than just Interesting backstory 1. He is unable to make everyday mistakes it's required for the mc of a children's show 2. His lifestyle doesn't work well with the show unlike Marinette who is usually doing something different all the time Adrien in most Episodes is in house 3. He being abused which isn't that appropriate to show children and his episodes usually have different tone to Marinette's So basically the only way to make him the lead is to rewrite him entirely and then he would not be the Adrien everyone loves although he be given more screentime tjough he does feel like a side chracter sometimes
Avatar the last airbender is also a kids show and the main character is faced with the genocide of his people (I think that's a bit darker than emotional abuse) and Zuko is physically abused by his father. The early seasons of winx club and my little pony also tackle some pretty mature themes and it works. I would actually argue that it's really important to teach children about abuse because it helps them identify when someone, including their parent, is doing it to them which will in turn help them know not to normalize that toxic behavior but to know that it is wrong. Aang makes everyday mistakes and he's even younger than Adrien is supposed to be but he is still the mc. So does Twighlight sparkle. I agree that it does take more than an interesting backstory but Adrien does do different things, he also has a double life just like Marinnette. They could make him the lead without rewriting him, it worked in season 2 when he had more of a focus. It's just that the writers have an agenda against him but tbh what I would really like is if they were genuinely equally important. Both should be main characters because both could be quite interesting if the writers wrote them better.
Writing for children rules change all the time so something like smoking for example would not be ok to show now but and not every episode can be like Gorizilla or Simon says theres a video and yeah Adrien is definitely the less Better written and the one that gets less development than Marinette who is still well written as a whloe despite her bad writing moments Heres a a fully detailed Video on why Miraculous is the way it is apart from bad writing m.ua-cam.com/video/SvLsc1g8mHM/v-deo.html
@@Owell_Owl I mean yes but the only reason the standard of writing has changed is because Hollywood thinks that just because sth is written for children it can be written in the dumbest way possible but kids deserve well-thought-out writing too. Also, Marinette is not well written, they failed her too, she could have been but they messed that up.
@@Owell_Owl I don't think the writer's have any excuse for not writing miraculous in a better way. Because the movie was also for kids, but it was written well despite a few issues and it didn't let terrorists like Gabriel get away with their crimes.

The thing that puzzles me is why the fans didn't leave Miraculous after knowing that Adrian is a sentimonster. ??💔🤨He can die with the snap of a finger. And let's not forget his resemblance to Emily, as well as the angel costume that he wore, and the last thing is Thomas's great hatred for Adrian. When you search the Miraculous vote on the official sites, you will find that the Chat noir is the number one favorite 1 by the fans, and there is no one who hates him or publishes bad things about him, but Ladybug is ranked 6th, and there are many hate videos towards her, so why did they not leave the show? 🙂It is clear that its ending will be sad because when the writer hates a character, he dies.😭 I left the show after knowing that Adrien is a sentimonster and also the hints that You confirm his death in the end,😢 and yes, you are right, Adrien deserves the best and to be the main character.🤧 Miraculous views must decrease, and therefore the show will be canceled and rerun by another company that respects males and females🫂 and is able to make Adrien and Marinette the main characters 👏
Ya, the fans not dropping the show makes no sense, I dropped it after I watched the first episode of szn 4
Yes he definitely deserves more screen time 100% 💚💛
FRRR Ngl I feel like he is more important than Marinette
He should be just as much of a mc as Marinette. Cuz he's a perfect cliffhanger character. His father is the main villain and he's not so ordinary.
Agreed 100%
Ditto!
Easy fix, bring back Chat Noir’s hearing and night vision abilities in SS1 and let Adrien break up with Marinette. One word… TOXIC! Easier fix, just watch the movie.
How is it toxic?? 😂
@@salty_fishy9387yeahhh, I also think that sentence is a bit confusing
I am sorry, but the girl literally broke into Adrien’s house three times, stalked him, followed him to Shanghai, knows his schedule for the next 3 years, stole his phone, plucked a strand of his hair, almost kissed him as a wax statue (despite not knowing at first, still creepy), sniffed his pillow, hated Kagami when Adrien went out with her, keeps him in the dark, and lied to his face about Gabriel being a hero. The only thing missing at this point is her becoming a control freak. If, you like Marinette that is fine, I just feel bad for Adrien, he deserves better imao.☺️
I am talking about his relationship with Mari, not him as a character.👍
@n.abookgirl2457 oooh you meant that his relationship with marionette is toxic. I agree, I just didn't get what u meant
He is perfect, kind, handsome, friendly charming, an ideal person and modern prince. I have a lack of words to describe him
i hated the sentimonster revelation because it removed most of the complexities and personal agency from the characters. It would be like finding out that Adrien was a robot this whole time. As for him being the MC, I concur that he is much more compelling and likeable than Marinette. However, much of what works so well about the series is the love-square. I think this show would work better if both Adrien and Cat Noir was equally as important as Marinette and Ladybug. I just think that the series is too lop-sided and imbalanced. I would fix that: balance it; make them both equally important.
Ya because they've butchered Marinette's character too tbh so making them equally important would prolly be the best writing decision. I also think making them equal would make their parallels (like how being a hero has taken away Marinette's freedom while giving Adrien freedom) more obvious. That was how it was in season 2 and I really liked that.
I forgot to mention that I really miss Adrien's puns :(
Me too he barely made ANY in S5!
What do you guys think about the Adrien sentimonster storyline?
It's stupid and feels like a copout by the writers.

I've watched videos about it but I'll get round to actually watching it one of these days.
@@thexreaderspeaks whole heartedly recommend it. It's really good. The miraculous i've been asking for Since 2017
Great video! The fact that Chloe doesn’t get redeemed and Gabriel gets one while Gabriel did worse stuff than her just shows Thomas is full of hypocrisy and pettiness. Also good redemption arc done right is Amber from Sofia the First. She’s starts out acting mean towards Sofia but gradually overtime she becomes a better person. Also can you talk about Marinette? She also been wasted by bad writing as well.
Ya if Amber could do it, so can Chloe. And I will talk about Marinette, I have a lot to say about her.
I get that thez wanted Chloe to fall back to begin the villain, to show sheąs not mature to deserve a miraculous but please. This could have been done better. Or be the fallback so she could realise her mistakes later on. But I cannot blame Chloe who was left behind really. Noone talked to her, and she never questioned for a moment her actions. I know it would be out of character but she trusted Ladzbug once. When she lost that trustz she went into down road spiral so much, that it made her ireadeemable. Not cuz it make's sense, but because the sertiant person wanted to get revenge on someone they knew 40 years ago. Wow... But they redeemed Felix and he also revealed his identity in public! And he was a psycho! There's no reason to keep him in the team! WHy not do the same to Chloe? Or give her the Kuro Neko treatment? I hate this episode but it gave me an idea. Chloe could go under diffrent allias. Not a Queen Bee anymore but she could still get redemption and do what she loved. Saving Paris with Ladybug. She could be a Vasperia 2.0 sience Zoe is so mid...or BeeGirl or Bumblebee or a name like that.
I didn't even know that they gave Felix of all people a redemption. I agree, the could have written her regression better if that's the path they wanted her to take.
@@thexreaderspeaks Yeah. Instead they just repeated "look how mean she is"! And her siding with Lila? Lila proved her before that she was a manipulator! Why would she trust her? Insurance maybe? Ok but the goal of it begin her becoming a mayor is all kinds of stupid. She's 16 teen. Where they're trying to make a Gideon from Gravity falls? It would maybe work if she would be a top mayor and betrailed Lila, and not side with Monarch. Still a bad plot twist.
Great video presented in an easy to understand format. Just a little hard to hear you, the audio seems to be muffled. ML creators are such hypocrites, they would rather redeem Gabriel because Vinny Pain relates to him (he had really weird pedo behaviour) but Chloe must be a villain because Thomas says so.
@rosa_floera Also, they technically redeemed Sabrina. Remember, she did horrible things to Marinette as well, and is just as bad as Chloe and even worse at times, but she gets away scot-free all because she couldn't take the pressure. [Making it worse, the S5 finale she got a miraculous. Same with Kim, you know the guy who apparently gave her trauma]. ☠️
Thank you and sorry about that. I added captions and I'll be recording my next video using a mic so hopefully that will help. And you're so right, ML creators really are super hypocritical its frustating
@@UnholyGrave834 I'm convinced they pulled that trauma backstory for Marinette out of their posteriors (coz I can't use certain words) tbh. Their character writing is so bad it's laughable. I wouldn't be surprised if hypocrisy is their favorite pastime
No matter what the man-baby does to Chloe's character, he can NEVER make me hate her!! In all seriousness, if Thomas hadn't screwed up Chloe's character arc for petty reasons [known very well to the fandom], the show could've been great. Low-key, the main reason most people consider S2 to be peak Miraculous was because of Chloe slowly becoming a better person, and if Chloe stayed as Queen Bee, it would've taught kids that, 'In life you majority of the times, you aren't going to work with your friends. You WILL have to work with people who dislike/hate or find difficult to work with.' The nutshell explanation is that, 'Don't take your feelings to work and learn some professionalism.' Also, I find it so hypocritical of Thomas and his fictional daughter to say that Chloe doesn't deserve a miraculous because of x and y reasons when • Despite the Miracle Queen fiasco, Ladybug still lets everyone of her yes-men [friends] and ex-boyfriend use their Miraculous. • Ladybug still gave Kim [the guy who apparently gave her trauma] a miraculous, same with Sabrina. • Marinette/Ladybug uses her powers' selfish reasons. Also • Gabriel committed so many awful crimes, and he got a redemption arc. • Andre the Mayor did some horrible things, and he got a redemption arc. • Felix committed genocide, S/A Ladybug in his debut episode, helped Hawkmoth steal the Miraculous and stalked Kagami, and he got a redemption Why can't Chloe, a 13/14 year old girl get one?! Also, noticed how two of them are adults.
I bet he had very little to do with season two's writing and that's another reason why it was good. And ya, it makes no sense how adults can commit crimes and still get redemptions but Chloe can't. You're right, his reasoning is so circular.
@thexreaderspeaks Thomas didn't work on S2. See Thomas went on vacation to write S3-S5 and left the other writers to work on S2.
Exactly. Great points. I think Marinette's character is butchered from the start when they made her a stalker... wtf. She's probably one of my most disliked characters, very unsufferable and abuses her power for selfish reasons. Disgusts me and reeks of written by incel... Haha. I mean, that reflects the creators' view I guess. Because every time they get backlash, the show creators just double down and act in the most unprofessional and petty way ever.... no matter if the person on the other side is a kid or if they were polite and constructive. They need to stop using social media so much. I must also add by Thomas telling fans that Alya's friendship to Marinette didn't really matter because ML's focus was on the romance explained another reason ML sucks, every man is for themselves, and that actually ruins the love square romance than making it succeed...
@@rosafloera You know what bugs me about Thomas..? When someone presents criticisms [valid/non-valid], Thomas ALWAYS had this standoffish behaviour, especially when you criticism/question his writing decision. I remember the man-child made a comment about him having the best animators and being better than Disney/Pixar, and someone polite called him out, Thomas decided to be offended and blocked her. With the progress of Miraculous, I've always noticed this weird favouritism and flanderization for Marinette's character. Despite being one of the two main leads, Marinette's presence can be exhaustion, especially with the known fact she's a part of EVERY PLOTLINE, especially in plots where she doesn't need to be present at all. Honestly, I'll just stick to the MLB comics and fanfics because they did a way better job of giving the characters and story more depth than the actual series. Hell, I've even decided, just for funsies to write my own version of Miraculous and, according to the folks who read and messaged me about the few episodes that I've published, is better than Miraculous. The only way for Miraculous to redeem itself is a revamping reboot and getting Thomas away from the scripts.
She's in all the stories because she's the main character this isn't an esemble cast if you don't like a show with one lead that sounds like a this show isn't for you problem

Even though I’m not justifying all her actions, regardless she was a slave and likely never learned about social queues let alone had any knowledge about how to navigate high society. Plus I think that she shouldn’t be villainized for not being “nice” towards the people who keep her as a literal slave and have the ability and power to abolish the system that put her there but choose not to
Yeah her actions make sense because of her background but the problem starts when she has no problem stepping on others or hurting others to elevate or protect herself i.e the servant whose tongue she cut off just to ensure her lies didn't get exposed.
ooh the story also has a visual novel adaptation on “Maybe: Interactive Stories” just to let u know
I'll check it out, thanks for telling me :)
Rashta is definitely the victim, seriously when we see that she suffered as a slave under the rule of sovituh ( forgot how to write his name imma just call him trash emperor) and navier who both had the power to stop slavery. And even if we claim navier to not have the power for that, well at least a statement from her thay slavery was bad would've been good but we actually see the opposite of that in earlier chapters when rashta is intoduced and navier in some of the panels looks down on her for the fact that shes a runway slave. Rashta is a clealry traumatized character, she sees herself as an object not only because she grew up as a slave but also because she's a woman who have been objectified and used, we see this in how she claims her beauty is a curse in early chapters, also with the fact that she got raped and gave birth when she was a slave ( slaves can't give consent so i say it's rape) . Even trash emperor doesn't love her but only sees her as tool to be used so that he can have a child and the only aspect he likes abt rashta is that she's dumb and easily impressed even ergi the man who she loved and thought that he truly loved her, was only manipulating her, for example all the incident you said that rashta did for no reason cause at that point her position is already secured, were actually ideas ergi introduced and encouraged her to do. For rashta is a character that is always reliant on a man for her survival, when she was a slave being with her master son helped her. to run away from the slave life and secure a place in the luxurious aristocratic world she relied on trash emperor, and to be more familiar with this new world and to find some love in this new place she relies on ergi. Rashta's whole life she had to rely on men to survive wich explains the tear, for her those are her weapons and her only surviving method Also after the suffering rashta endures in the slave life she wants to live the comfortable luxurious life she ( and all the peasents) associates with the aristocracy, wich is explained in her choice of clothing ( very extra ) and in general manners, rashta clealry doesn't wanna remmber the times where she was a slave we see this in her completely rejecting and denying that past identity of hers Also her hostility torwards the emperor and the empress could also be explained ( but I'm pretty sure this isnt how the author intended it to be but i will say it either way caue it is interesting), we could say that rashta might dislike the emperor for she knows deep down that he see her as an object and that he also responsible for slavery but because she rely on him heavily she can't let herself hate him too much or that will show in her actions, wich will lead him to kick her out. and for navier the hatred that rashta has for her could be also explained with the way navier also let slavery happens and to see her be all holy around the ppl and help some poor ppl to get education and all made the fact that navier never even questioned the morality behind slavery disgusting, and because rashta doesn't rely on navier for surviving she doesn't need to hold that hatred and vengefulness and jealousy in, and would rather show it in crocodile tears so that she could also secure her spot even more as the empress. In the end rashta dies after suffering and realizing that she was never loved, she never broke from the chains of her trauma for she was always chained to her past . She was born a slave, someone who is looked down upon and ridiculed by society not even seen as a human and died in the same way after getting spat on by ppl she thought she could trust ( ergi ) after she tried so hard to feel loved so that she herself can learn how to love herself , and while everyone goes to live a happy life, issues like slavery still exists in that world Rashta to me is neither a good or evil character for she is just like humans irl with how complex she is, her current behavior is all a reflection of her old suffering for she is traumatized. this concept of hers make her the most interesting character in the whole "remarried empress" webtoon. For she is very flawd but she also representation of the victims of human evil. To say that she is evil is an exaggeration and to say she's nice is also an exaggeration, just like all of us shes a product of her time and place. And i honestly can go on even more abt rashta as a tragic character and even talks abt the imperialism, power abuse, morality, classism, and even rasicm and mysoginny in the webtoon and how they're ignored for the large part or put in the wrong way/focus. But this is long enough. Also this could count as criticism for the maker of this video but i found the whole segment of " how dare rashta touch and rip the dress of the empress by mistake " to be very....classist 😭 like damn really be liking the royalty now ? After the multiple times we saw how imperialism is bad and all....i thought it was eat the rich?
I didn't mean for it to come off as me supporting royalty and the rich but I think it's just human decency to not go around touching people without their consent (I did make this when I was 15 and mad at Rashta tho so I'm sorry it sounded that way) I agree that Rashta is really complex but I believe that although she started out as a victim, currently in the webtoon, she is very much an abuser.
and yeah, the webtoon should have probably had navier address and even try to fix the slavery problem
@@thexreaderspeaks oh you don't have to worry Abt that comment I understand from Your pov how her behavior was too strong. Anyways for navier tbh I feel like the reason why a lot of ppl call her a Mary sue or in general a bland character is the fact that the author didn't give her a flaw ( this is very common in webtoons because they try to make a gilrboss character) we can say her lack of showing emotions is a flaw...but is it really? All the characters stand out better because of their flaws from the trash emperor to rashta to even the ml ( forgot his name 😭 ), except for navier, she's written to be smart, nice, and elegant. That of course if you if you ignore the fact that she turns a blind eye to the slavery and only help the peasents when it helps her or for a cause she care Abt ( like the wizard girl who lose her magic ) but the author ignores these stuff in general. I feel like making navier make mistakes for example allowing the slavery to continue only for there to be actual consequences ( for example maybe the slave start to run away and make a rebellion but I feel like the author wouldn't do this cause clearly this gonna make the fans hate navier, so I think make the rebellion happen in another country who had sever problems with slaves, or make her get to know a slave and see their pov, being that in politics a lot of ppl at that times owned sex slaves that they bought with them to most hangouts, or something like that ) so that in the end navier will have to choose between allowing slavery to continue or let the economy fail and make the aristocrats and the Nobels hate her cause she ruined their easy money and also the peasents disliking her cause now the economy is falling, this will lead to the consequences of her getting hated by ppl and also questioning if she was a good option for a queen and even could be used as " oh well she might be a spy from her previous empire who came here to ruin this one so that the other empire can colonize us " showing how propaganda works, and then to really show how smart she is make her actually have a plan on how to get the economy back and this will lead her to make connections with the brains of the empire and the revolutionaries making her have stinger allied and helpers for the future of the empire and also show her that peasents deserve the right to free education and not the just the gifted wizards . In that way you show how navier was at first a woman who was blinded by her priveliage, as she sat comfortably on top of her throne with a crown on her heard while forgetting where the fabrics of her throne came from and how the Jewels from her crown were bathed in the blood of the slaves in the mines. And also by using rashta as a good divider to showcase the difference in the worlds of the rich and the poor. For example how both navier and rashta face mysoginny but the way rashta faced it was more extreme then navier ( if I will to give a modern example of this think Abt how white women in America suffered under the patrachial system and how women of color suffered in the same system, they both dealt with mysoginny but woc dealt with it in a more violent raw way). But of course that's a wishful thinking cause again this is webtoon 🤦, and also the author clearly didn't make much thoughts in character building like how they threw that slavery is very rampant but didn't do anything Abt that fact, not even Abt fixing it but the author never bought it up outside of the context of rashta and some other two slaves but we don't see much from them. And even when it comes to the imperialism nd propaganda and public views and religion role in politics, they were all done badly. I understand that this is a Romance story not a political one ( even tho there's a lot of politics) but it's such bad story telling Surprisingly I don't think the ending was bad but not in the way the author intended, in the end FL and ml go live their life when rashta dies in prison and trash emperor doesn't lose much, I feel like that's pretty realistic with the way society there works. Trash emperor survives and lives on cause he's priveliaged for the fact that he's a man and a Nobel. and the slave born get fucked over and dies in a lonely and sad way. Idk pretty realistic for that era I think in the end what ruined this comic for me was that I just got more mature for the shitty writing ( seriously when there's so much you can do with characters like rashta and navier and ml, seriously rashta omfg so many opportunities lost on making on of the greatest stories in webtoons) and also the very very shitty fandom who doesn't have much brain cells and also surprisingly mysoginistic ( not in the traditional way but like a more discreet way ) and very annoying but that's like for majority webtoons even in good comics like AISHA ( I recommend this so hard you have no idea, it very good at depicting issues such as hypersexuality, classism, mysoginny, trauma....ect, you can easily understand the pov of most of the characters and it's not even halfway done, plus it's very original with the plot and the art is very good ) they exist

Rashta has done A LOT of bad things and her past does NOT justify those actions. But, her past was tragic, and I agree, she probably has a mental issue. She is easily misled an example being her opinion of Navier. When Rashta was still a slave she recieved a photo of Navier for her birthday and she was ecstatic. When she first arrived at the palace she tried her best to become friends with her and to get along. Yes she did disrespect Navier a lot and did not give her personal space but again, she was never taught to act in front of people like the Empress. Sovieshu made Rashta his mistress causing her and Navier to have an even stronger rivalry, a rivalry for love, attention and power. Her past plays a big role in her actions but do not justify them. Sovieshu was a big player in Rashta's behaviour and also Duke Ergi (although for Navier's perspective he is not a villain.) Everyone in Rashtas past, Sovieshu and even Navier played a role in Rashtas horrible behaviour. Rashta is not the only one to blame here.
I love Rashta, maybe her personality is not perfect, she is the cutest girl <3
