    How many inches will the mid mount mower raise up out of the way when you’re bush hogging

    • @gtjunkie6669
      @gtjunkie6669 2 дні тому

      Im guessing 7-8 inches, it really should be taken off if you're going to cut much.

    Have one.... 1170 hours.. love it. Sounds and acts like a diesel.. from reading about these engines they won't last quite as long as a diesel but way longer than a 318 engine for example.. a couple thousand hours isn't much for them.. The known issue on the 318 is the cam gear. While most may have been replaced by now there probably are some that were not and it's a costly affair if you don't have the expertise to do it yourself... It's why I passed on many 318's.. oil and hydro filters aren't that bad. That extra oil filler cap is just that. An extra one.. No idea why.. The black cap on the left side near the top just off the radiator is the hydro oil fill.. Should be marked as such if it isn't worn off.. takes a long time to do a hydro full drain/filter fill since it goes in so slowly. I expect just a hydro filter change would be enough every couple hundred hours after that. Congrats.. apparently if maintained anywhere near normal most all reviews are positive..

    Wow. Impressive machine. I have an RK24. Never mowed or bush hogged with it. Have moved lots of loader material, grapple is the best, box blade grading, plowing, post hole digging. Move refrigerators and washers and other heavy stuff.

    Would love to see a how to hook up tp tractor video. I have the same tractor, looking for the tiller and other attachment but curious how it hooks up. Great stuff.

      The belt driven tiller is a bit of a pain to line up and get mounted. The three point is heavy I hear, but a standard attachment.

    I just got one of these, where can you find the tiller and blade?

    • @gtjunkie6669
      @gtjunkie6669 Рік тому

      Try marketplace. The blade may be easier than the tiller. They made two tillers, one belt driven by pulley off the rear pto, one heavier shaft driven.

    Hey sir do you have any more videos on mounting this to a sears tractor

    • @gtjunkie6669
      @gtjunkie6669 2 роки тому

      I do not, if I remember correctly, I had to drill new holes to mount the engine, I used the original belt and slid the engine forward till the belt was tight, then making sure the belt was aligned properly i marked holes. But care had to be taken on the left side of the tractor when marking and drilling because the channel that the mule drive slides in underneath was very close and i had to make sure there was room to get a nut and socket next to the channel, I could have probably went with a shorter belt to allow more room for a hood, the air intake and exhaust are in the way. I still have not altered the hood to fit.

    Your arms on the plow are way out of adjustment, I first started using a 1969 sears suburban 12 and it rolled the dirt over really well.

      @Gil Williams I used the original belt on the 420 and it is fine, also ran the deck for a bit with it's original belt.

      @gtjunkie6669 2 роки тому

      @Gil Williams I can't remember the size, but I used the same original belt and pulley, and basically placed the engine where it was tight. Of course the deck belt works too.

    How does it compare power wise to the old twin. I have a horizontally opposed 18hp B&S in my old craftsman gt18 and one cylinder is spanked. I may just plop a 420 in there and call it done.

      @gtjunkie6669 2 роки тому

      Sorry about the late reply, it has pretty good power but really haven't mowed much with this one yet. Not got it quite lined out yet. But for pulling its more than sufficient.

      Yes they are if you get a good body. I’ve got a 73 & man that thing has been through hell. The old 16hp OHV just wasn’t worth it. It’s looked to be in ok shape, but didn’t want to mess with the whole host of issues these old Tecumseh motors have, plus the carb was shot. The coil thing was good, but didn’t want to f$&@ w it. I had a predator 212 on it & beat the shit out of it. Then returned it 6months later w my 1yr warranty. Then went & got a non running Yanmar L70 threw it on there & she seems to be happy. Abt to do the same swap on my JD212 cuz I’m tired of the ole Kohler plus its got internal ring issue & don’t want to f$&@ with it. If I have to throw a new motor on an ole all mechanical belt driven tractor & it’s a decent Kohler then yes. I could fix the ole Kohler but if I was tearing it apart that far, I’d be a complete rebuild that gets expensive fast so since my Sears is diesel I wanted to make it diesel as well so both of my tractors & my truck share the same fuel.

    And remember the old Wheelhorse number 79350 .. can be replaced with the one you are displaying on the video which I'm sure it is a 79364... these are both for long frame tractors 300 and 400 series.. the 520 requires the 300 and 400 series front axle to keep it from hitting on the front tires when tilted. Smaller front tires would just be ridiculous to me but that is a thought

  • @russellthompson8793
    @russellthompson8793 3 роки тому

    Not sure what you mean by an extension.

    • @gtjunkie6669
      @gtjunkie6669 2 роки тому

      They make an extention for the rear of the plow frame to push it forward. A guy had one but I couldn't get him to sell, if you'll check market place some 520 blades with extention come up sometimes they are also sold of wheelhorse parts and more.

  • @russellthompson8793
    @russellthompson8793 3 роки тому

    If you have a larger tractor 520( not sure about the 400 series) I believe it has a sway front axle which means the tires farther forward. If you can find an axle from a 300 or 400 series that will solve your tilt issue..
