random wheeling, life, and other stuff.
Hurt the motor lol
After many years of abuse and wot, the combination of the smallest radiator ever ran aaaaand 3800 spring open dump waste gate aaand long duration 4th gear pulls.. the motor finally has problems worth removal and disassembly… hoorah or something… me thinks I smoked the oil by going over temp with it which in turn ate a bearing(s) or the high temps stuck a valve.. orrrr I finally melted a cylinder tho I doubt it. #cumminsproblems #12valvecummins

What size is your exhaust turbine? 11cm or 16cm?
I’m running a 11cm on my truck, but built a setup with a 16cm on a buddies truck. Both work goood tho he is auto.
This is the 11cm
excellent driving
He's your friend
Was, put him down early April cause bone cancer. He was an amazing dog.
Let's see some underhood pictures of the turbo setup please

Wastegate was not installed on this video. Ungated.
@g__wizz Thanks for the other video! Was that te 16cm housing?
@@Whitegold_6.7 no the 11cm one. Both work good, I’m external gate cause 11cm tho. Duncan fenely has blown up 11cm ones apparently¿ so safety factor for mine
@@Whitegold_6.7 this is the 16cm one. ua-cam.com/users/shortsq6p6KV3ZG4c?feature=sharea

Dammit Gary....
@OCHE 15
Hospowers ?
not sure, already blew up a 717 trans, going to do a bmw getrag 420g swap, then do a baseline with the stock 5.5m pump, then maybe an 8mm? or a 7.5mm? prob 8mm tho. wasn't "fast" but was not slow. my drift car friend said 300hp.. buut my guess is around 200hp, tho less cause no one has done that with 5.5mm. does full superturbo burnouts and drifts in the rain tho or "used to" lol.
if i remember correctly this was only 4psi of boost.
ua-cam.com/video/FACcUN_1-3c/v-deo.html this is like 9psi or 10. sounds low, but its a different larger turbo and the motor has airflow mods. the noise is the external waste gate opening.
@@g__wizz I have an om602 with a holset hx40 and 5.5mm, but I wanted to see if I can achieve 200 horses ?
@@oche1547 with a 6mm yes. probably not with 5.5 if you did it would be at the very top end, also that turbo should be pretty laggy/you probably need fuel to make it work right. 1.xx ar, vs my .73 ar turbo.
Fuck yeah Gary I didn't know about this video!
Watch out, hippies are going to get MADD
5 years ago, and in mexico.
What's the turbo specs when does it spool and can you tow with it thanks
67mm 16cm i think? Spools good and ya it works under load.
What model 52 is it? What turbine housing?
16 cm. i want to try a 11cm one on my truck with the nv. this truck is a loosy goosey 727 lol.
Awesome truck. Hope to see more
starts @1:54
Stock rpm limit is 5450
haha ya i know it goes higher, this was literally the second time i had started it i think? very early on, no drive shaft, on jack stands ect lol.
Hello 👋🏽 can you help me with my oil pan ? How much to do the same you did to yours ? I can ship to you ! I also have an om603 with the clearance issue for my grand Cherokee
are you trying to do a front or rear sump? mercedes has a bunch of different pans for these motors. i did what i did cause getting them in the states is pretty complicated, and it was cheaper to just modify what i had cause the basic layout worked for my application. if i were doing a rear sump i would just try this. www.superturbodiesel.com/std/showthread.php?tid=5652 i think that may be what you want.? or do you need extra capacity?
g zimmermann yes that’s exactly what I want a rear sump since the 603 is on the front I know it will hit my steering bars , so I was wondering if modifying it just like an om606 or OM648 oil pan , I love the way yours came out but yeah rear sump is what I need I’ll figured out the oil pick up after since is just a tube . Any advice? 🤔 thanks for replying
@0:54 lol
Om603 worth the swap? I want more out of my w123 but I believe the 617 is pretty limited on power potential
eh you either get it or you dont. petty hard to quantify that in the sense of it being "worth it or not". ill put it this way i have a cummins swapped chevy square body that i rock crawl/prerun. i also have a pile of broken drivetrain parts where just the simple parts amount too thousand$. is it worth it? i dunno but it sure is fun... even when i break a main shaft 50 miles in the middle of nowhere. now i figure this car wont be much different, and so far its proving me right. is it worth it? i dunno, but its proving to be fun. but ya man i wouldn't attempt the swap unless you know how to fabricate and also have the tools to do so. think proficient aluminum tig welding at a bare minimum.
Yeah i completely see what you mean. Thank you. I may do it sometime in the future but not anytime soon. I want more power but i pretty much just have basic tools
Daniel Inman half the fun of doing something is just doing it tho. dont let problems that are not right directly in front of you sway you from doing it. patience and perseverance is all it takes and money depending on what the actual cost of what your trying to accomplish, but realistically there is always a cheaper way/diy way its just a matter of how far down that rabbit hole you want to go. most problems in life can be dealt with by dealing with them. now for your stock om 617, i would start by removing the alda and plug any of the ports on the manifold that go to it. doing that will give you full rack travel with no boost, basically gives you full fuel all the time(sounds cooler than it really is).. then i would remove and plug all the egr equipment if you still have that, then find out what your boost is. if you want more boost drill a hole in the elbow of the fitting on the compressor housing that sends the signal to the waste gate. when you drill it start out with a small 1/8 hole and step that up in 1/32 increments till you get the boost number you want. pretty sure the highest you can do on those is 12psi? but i would check the web before hand. for if thats not enough there may be power adjustments in the pump but from what i understand the process of adjusting is fairly complicated, requiring multiple adjustments for a single net "adjustment". you should be able to get noticeable results from doing that and none of the first stuff is all that complicated.
so apparently there are rules as far as speed is concerned out there, sorry guys, i didnt know.
