Loving the debate over Trap!! 😆
Thanks for watching Daniel!
Thank you for featuring Director Obayashi. Despite the fact that he has consistently made important films over the decades, I think he has been quite underrated when viewed from a global perspective. In particular, the films of the 80's and 90's that you have chosen to feature in this issue were a rich body of work in which visual expression and Japanese spiritual themes were inextricably intertwined. “The Rocking Horsemen” is based on a novel set in Kannonji, Kagawa Prefecture, and I’ve read somewhere that Obayashi insisted on filming on location there. Also the film company had requested that one of the members be a woman, but the director insisted on having all the members be men, true to the original story. Obayashi is very protective of his own origin, and this is expressed in the films he makes, and I think this attitude has also been reflected in his respect for the origins of others as well. By the way, one of the rocking horsemen is nominated for an Emmy Award this year as a supporting actor in Shogun.
Thank you for watching. His films are ridiculously difficult to find in the U.S. I hope that they become more widely available so more people can find out about his genius.
I love the rock group Queen. I have all their albums, I have seen most of the documentaries, read a few biographies, and yes, I saw the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody". I liked it, because it was about Queen, but it was formulaic. It's not a great movie, although they did touch on a few things that were slightly more obscure facts, but they also got quite a few things wrong. I agree that documentaries are way better than biopics in general. Thank you for a great discussion and topic!
Thank you for watching!
"Furiosa". Says so right in the credits, and on the poster.
New subscriber here. Looks like a great a great show, but why just a half hour??
We air on a few channels besides UA-cam, including CC: Media in Salem and a few radio stations that all have 30 minute limits 🙂
I appreciate the discussion on Asteroid City. I believe it's Wes Anderson's best work and the more I watch it, the more I notice. My favorite detail is montana's boots making a clinking noise despite not having spurs, a veiled reference to the stage-hands shown in the first scene with edward norton who make the sound effects for the play.
who did that incredible intro? I'm blown away!

I am so excited that yuo did the "Boy and the Heron"! I am very sorry I missed it in the theaters, but now I absolutely will watch it.......... somewhere. I appreciate your review and agree completely about Miyazaki's films. Now, I *will* say that I am not a fan of "Princess Mononoke", not because it isn't a good film, but I go t so annoyed (read angry) at the people destroying the forest and the boy who stops the title character from seeking her revenge on the humans! Yes, I know that was a moral tale, but I sided with the princess from the beginning. I would have no qualms about her taking out all the loggers and what not. 😀
Correction..Penny Marshall passed in 2018.
Great show, great theme. CG is marvelous, and I'm delighted to add 'Big Brown Eyes' to my watch list -- I've not seen it before and looking forward to it. I share a love of Doris Day films with this week's guest, Mo. I believe DD was in a 60s-era remake of 'My Favorite Wife' called 'Move Over Darling' and James Garner plays the Cary Grant role.
Will have to check that out!
You have given me new (and not so new) films to look for. Thank you! Excellent discussion!
Thankful for a snow day so I could watch a whole episode. I need to see 'Subject' asap

Thank you for watching and for supporting the Darkside Cinema!
Love the title credits 🤣
Thank you for watching!
Right there w y'all on Phoenix, Duvall, and Hackman so wildly underrated by general public (range from The Conversation to French Connection to Eureka to Royal Tenenbaums)
Thanks for watching!
My family LOVES the How to Train Your Dragon series. We saw the third one in the theater on opening weekend. And we loved Onward as well!
Thank you for watching!
Great show! Thank you for this
The New York Times just stole your greatest actors idea, but broadened it to include representatives formerly known as actresses, limited it to 21st c. players, also stiffed DiCaprio, but omitted Streep🤔 too.
Bryan and Angela, Tom of Tom and Cecilia of EbertFest 1st and Last here. A terrific episode and I agree with all your choices, and while initially surprised, I agreed with Angela on Joachim Phoenix. However I did not hear DiCaprio's name mentioned whom we follow since there is a Bronx connection through his mother, a friend and later roommate of my sister.
So many actors, but only one show. Good to hear from you Tom! We could easily do another ten episodes on favorite actors and if COVID keeps movies out of theaters we just might have to. DiCaprio is certainly a great actor, my opinion, and I thought he was great in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (after additional viewings). Hope your independent theater is making it through all this. Keep in touch.
Brian, sadly our local independent theatre Bantam Cinema, where Daniel Day Lewis in the flesh introduced “Lincoln”, has closed and is for sale at just $375K
@@tecurran1 That is so sad. I'm sorry for your communities loss.
Good day, ReelFilmSnobs. pretty superb video. thanks. :)
Hey!! Liked the video, good job. Why don’t you use SMZeus . c o m to help your videos rank better??
Audie Murphy's best scene in "The Cimarron Kid" is with Hugh O'Brian. Standing next to each other, O'Brian tries to sneak a gun out and shoot his rival. Murphy throws a drink in his eyes and pulls his own gun so quickly, it seems to appear out of thin air in front of O'Brian's chest. Blindingly fast. A great reminder that this particular actor was in fact a very dangerous man who knew guns, long before becoming the most decorated US solder in WW2.
Woah! I really liked the Mr. Rogers pic.
This movie was on the digital tv channel grit tv it just went off
Watched the Friends of Edie Coyle the other night per Angela's recommendation. Love Mitchum.
Lol. You don't hear "it was in focus" as a positive in a movie review often. You are really having to dive! Thanks for your reviews. I always enjoy.
Thanks for watching!
You Were Never Really Here is my favorite Joaquin film ever.
Silence of the Lambs was horrifying!
Nice work Kara!
Great Ep!
You are very good critics. I am going to subscribe to this channel.
The Birdcage. Lol.
Adding a compliment for this show! You guys do a great job.
Angela, the question about what other films Kimberly Reed made ... her 'PRODIGAL SONS" (2008) garnered huge accolades and many awards. It's a fantastic film, highly recommended. I think it's on Amazon Prime.
Thank you!
Age of consent in Europe is 16 -- Italy is 14. Jesus guys -- as a person from European roots, young love is not a taboo...
Really enjoy watching your videos. I love hearing your opinions on different movies. Keep up the good work.
You give wrong information about Aisholpan being the first eagle huntress in her culture. please read the research by Adrienne Mayor and see my op essay. m.facebook.com/notes/mongolia-live/an-eagles-eye-view-on-otto-bells-the-eagle-huntress/1264750903586723 which show how the media marketing has and is leading people to erase female history.
Thanks for the shout out Angela!
this was good editing
