Be a guest of The Vintage Composer and join in a journey through baseball trading card history!
We are looking to build & complete master sets of Topps baseball cards starting with 1954. These videos give insight to each of the annual issues, explain errors and variations, subsets, rookies, and tell the personal stories as to their acquisition. A few are still in need of minor upgrades, so future videos will chart each year’s progress until they are one hundred percent finished!
Here we will also highlight and examine those individuals and moments of the game that made us fans for life. Other content will include cards in the personal collection, milestones, specific dates in history, trivia, nicknames, and in-depth looks at other sports collectibles.
If you enjoy the sports hobby with all it's specialties like autographs, memorabilia, TTMs, magazines, and of (course) cards - then you've found the right place.

Nice video
Nice cards Mike. This reminds me of collecting in the 70's...also reminds me that I don't have a George Brett RC. Yours is a beauty!
You better get cracking! This one brought back great memories of opening packs from the pharmacy.
So well done, Mike. The Yount and Brett are amazing. I like that Gary too!
Of course you do; even as an Expo!
Very nice cards. The 2 Aaron cards are on my want list.
Well, you can't have mine! I hope you find examples that will be enjoyable forever.
Great cards!
Thanks, I'm keepin' them!
Beautiful George Brett! Thanks for sharing.
It's one of a few that always catches my eye.
MIke - You have a fine eye, particularly with the 1975 cards. That set is notorious for awful centering, and print dots are frustratingly common. That Brett rookie is just stunning!!!!!
I could make a soup with all the fish eyes in my 70's collection! The '75 set was one that needed to be a bit better; the color scheme is fantastic!
Your videos are awesome. Thank you for sharing, 70’s cards are great
You're the man, Orlando! 70's cards are slowly creeping into the realm of 'must-have vintage' before they explode in price.
Great video! Nice looking cards in my book! Happy Thanksgiving!
You too, Scott! I'm glad you approve of the cards.
Another great one ☝️ 🎉
Thank you very much!
Very nice, love that Finest bat relic!
I'm surprised it came through so vibrant on video, and very pleased with all my new Molitors!
I was laughing at your last sentence. That was great.
But yet has a hint of truth in it...
@ Yep.
Buying cards with the $100 was a real class action!
Aha, you're a pun-ny guy!
I got a surprise check for $30 in the mail yesterday. Now I'm inspired!
You know what to do. (If you don't, send it my way)
Dolla dolla bills y’all! Congrats and good luck on the 62 and 83!
Hopefully the 80s sets will be done by the New Year!
Very nice
Indeed; it was a good show!
Well done 👏 Love the 62 set , thanks for sharing 👍
I'm pleased that it's finally complete!
Found Money!!!!
In the world of collecting, is there anything better?
Good stuff
Thanks Orlando!
Well done 👍 🎉
Thank you very much!
Great selections with the money. Great Molitor auto!!!
I actually don't mind the chipping. There are great deals to be had if you search long enough!
Great video and presentation. All are deserving of the award.
It's going to be tough for starters to capture the award any longer.
Great video! Those were some dominant years!
It's amazing what a pitcher can do if given the opportunities!
Beautiful story❤
Bravo Ricky. Youre like a mexican
I've always thought that the MVP award needs to go to everyday players, especially now when most pitchers only go 5 innings.
I hear ya, especially when they have the CY award just for them. If that were the case, it makes you wonder which position players might have captured more than one MVP.
Wonderfully done Mike!
Hey Nate, you knew a few A's were going to make the list!
@ ow ya Vida and Eck!
Great work as usual. I think MVP pitchers are at this point a thing of the past...
When they average around 6 IP a game (and aren't healthy through the season), it's tough to assemble any sort of momentum.
Thanks Mike. Very informative and, as ever, entertaining
Very kind of you to say Chuck. I love finding new trivia and stories by digging a bit deeper.
Very informative video, really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing
I'm glad you were able to check them out Orlando!
Informative overview. I enjoyed it.
Thanks Drew; there are more pitchers on the way!
These are very enjoyable and informative video's.
I appreciate that, Scott!
Great cards. I am fan of mid grade cards. They feel more authentic to me I guess.
It makes them enjoyable to read and sort, rather than museum pieces!
I have 581 cards, 30 percent excellent mint condition and 70 near mint condition. Tough high numbers too expensive
You're making great progress! If you don't mind a little wear on the high #s, they could be had for much less.
Great cards I wouldn't worry about the grades if they are just for your collection!
Yeah, they keep the complete sets in order. There's no sense in cracking the cases and no point in investing for the possibility of receiving a half-point higher.
Beautiful cards despite the grades.
Thank you!
Despite the grades, some of those cards look so good.
They actually are; I was just thrown off by the differences in the '65s.
Rangers Ted Williams. Huh. Almost as surprising as Dodgers Ruth or A's DiMaggio!
None of the heavy hitters translated to "great" manager. Frank Robinson came close, but it proves no one has that secret formula to win on both sides of the lines.
Great video. I knew his managing career didn’t go very well but sort of forgot he managed the Rangers.
It's a shame there wasn't a better system in place to pass his knowledge through.
Another great one. Pitching rules and how they are used has changed so much. 30 win seasons is definitely a thing of the past. 20 wins these days is even a little difficult to get to.
Thanks Greg, you make excellent points. I'll dive into the 300 win club later this year.
Williams got Eddie Brinkman to hit .260+ in his two years with him, that by itself would had gotten him into the HOF, ha!
If the fielding improved, that would have been a miracle!
I couldn’t agree more on your Koosman rookie - Gem Mint 10 presentation!
Not a bad 1-2 punch for a RC!
Well done 👍 🎉
Thank you!
A lot of great players like Ted Williams don't make great managers. It has nothing to do with smarts or strategy, but more there impatience with players not being as good as they were. Nice video!
They probably didn't want to ruin their reputation as a great player, too. If you don't manage a Champion, the image might get tarnished a bit.
You could stand underneath them big melons and not know the sun is shining.
Agreed the ‘68 mantle got undergraded.
Oh well, it's still a beauty, and fits just right with the rest!
Tough one on the 78 season MVP. Guidry had a phenomenal pitching season which I remember but Jim Rice was a hitting machine. Needless to say the Yankees won the WS!!
Rice was so underrated during that time, too. Thanks for checking this one out!
Mike - great job assembling this data and presenting it so well. I can't wait for the National League version!
Thanks Chuck, these stats shed a different light on how todays' game is (mis)managed.
Enjoyed this breakdown. It is hard to imagine that we will see anymore pitchers who win the MVP under the current handling of pitchers.
Or even another 300-game winner (hint, hint)!
There will not be any more MVP pitchers unless the current usage strategy changes. No need to ever update your great video as things are going now.
Especially with starters averaging 6 innings and relievers coming in for just one!
