We squeezed in a 2-hour visit to Basel and its two main Christmas markets in late November 2024. Not only a perfect setting - in the old quarter of the City - but a superb range of stalls were on offer. Here you can find not only Christmas decorations aplenty but also leather goods, wooden crafts, fashion and textiles, jewellery and more. Way more choice than we found in Colmar tbh!
Naturally there are many food stalls in the markets and restaurants around the town - so you won't starve. And the two markets are only a 10 minute walk apart so we found it easy to cover both.
The Cathedral based market had plenty of activities for families and children too, so make sure you see that one if you have young ones.
