day in the life at UC Davis… but it’s 99% biking.
I spent two days at UC Davis to visit my friends and live the Aggie experience. This episode, we join Nathan during his classes as a Japanese major. We also tag along with Brandon for a small Q&A segment about some random topics. This isn't your typical day in the life college lifestyle video though because we are transfer students, and don't get the opportunity to share a dorm-life, dining hall, and club/orgs experience. As the title suggest, you're gonna be watching 99% biking and talking, but if you're curious, this video exists anyway! (There's some epic drone shots for the fellow monkey brainers :D )

best vid i've seen yet! i'm a transfer who got accepted to UCI, UCR, UCSD, and UCSC. hard reject from UCB (lol) and waitlisted at UCLA. i live in oakland right now and am trying to decide between UCSC and UCI. just visited UCI Saturday and i'm honestly even more confused. idk if you remember but it was extremely overcast-is this part of why it was so dead or is just dead on the weekends in general? like i saw almost no one! it was insane. also, can i ask if there's any sort of party life there? i assume it's nothing like UCSC for example but thought i'd ask haha. thanks again <3
I am so sorry I just saw this comment! Weekends do feel very empty and gloomy... it's very odd. It's a peaceful quiet though, and definitely gives UCI that 'dead' reputation. party life exists, you just have to go out of your way to find it. people often get informed on things that happen via large connected Instagram pages, an app called YikYak, and reddit posts.

hey do you have any information towards the work-study at uci?
Hey Edward! Work-study at UCI allows students to earn up to $1,500 each year, and it's something you can apply to be enrolled under while filling out your financial aid/loan checklist. When working on-campus, you are only allowed to work up to 19.5 hours a week. I'm not too sure what happens if you exceed the 1,500 limit. I know you are under UCI payroll. You can find out more information when searching for UCI's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS) and finding work study on the website!

How would you rate your experience at UCI? Has it been easy to make friends? I’m more laid back myself so I’d just be looking for friends to do normal activities with. I’m a transfer applicant who got accepted from TAG, and currently I’m gonna go unless I get accepted by UCLA.
Hello! Henry here, I would give my experience at UCI a 9/10. Personally could put myself more into clubs and associations for the social and networking aspects, but it's been easy for me to make friends in my housing community and at the gym. I feel like it's pretty easy to meet tons of people, and recommend trying particularly hard in the first quarter to do so, put yourself out there, for instance if it takes setting a challenge to meet 3-5 new people a day. Hey I am studying at mcgill university in canada with aerospace engineering . Does ucla have aerospace engineering bachelor's and is there a possibility that I can get full scholarship in ucla as an international student including meal housing and studies tution? My status now is international, but I am studying in canada and my current cumulative GPA for 2 years in aerospace is 4.13/4.3. And as transfer student is only my university transcript is enough or they need more?
hello Amanuel! I am not too certain about their requirements, but you seem very qualified in your standing. They have aerospace bachelor's (undergrad) program and it is within possibility that you can get partial to full scholarship to waive your tuition and costs provided further qualifications and status, especially since you are already two years into it, you have a strong position when it comes to applications. Your transcript is more than the bare minimum, but it may come down to your essays.

Back when I was in high-school getting admitted to Californian University was my dream,but tuition restrain me to attend to these universities and choose canada as my final study destination.Having scored 1530 SAT score and 116 in tofel, I got accepted to uc Berkeley, but still they ask me to pay 35k$ a year which I left the university behind. So as a transfer student my current university transcript like you tell me is enough to transfer to UCLA ,but the problem still I have is, it is all about money which I can't afford their tuitions. Thus based on your experience is the ucla story could be different to Uc Berkeley and you're motivating me to transfer or finish my Canadian university and maybe to apply for masters?
@@SkyHighemanuel I definitely think it can be a toss-up when it comes to the University of California admissions system. Your statistics are promising, but I would also be concerned about the costs as an international student since many I know struggle with the absurd tuition fees. I'm assuming this is with some sort of financial aid coverage too, so that is a tough decision to make unfortunately. I would definitely recommend speaking to other sources, and other international students currently attending the university to reach out and hear their perspective. Maybe on reddit threads? I was looking at the Xfer cohort to UCLA for 2021, with respect to Steven's and Tamoor's entering class, and there were stepped up 25th/75th percentile gpas by the class as a whole. In 2020 it was 3.67/3.94, with a midpoint (not median) of 3.79, and in 2021 it was 3.78/4.00, with a midpoint of 3.89. So a lot of xfers are trying to find the easiest pathway in which to be admitted, because Engineering, Life Sciences, Bus Econ/Econ, and the various math majors like Stats and Data Theory have midpoints of 3.9+ with the 75th being 4.0. Even Sociology has a 3.83/4.00 or midpoint of 3.91. So a lot of students are trying to "game" admissions by choosing Soc, and use it as a predent, prelaw, or even premed vehicle. My question -- sorry for the verbosity -- is what are Steven who's majoring in Asian American Studies and Tamoor using their majors for? Good luck to you all...
Steven plans on helping his community in various ways once he graduates. I believe Tamoor intends to join the working industry shortly after graduating under his major.

A little late reply, but mechanical engineering is a strong major choice! It's definitely recommended to be part of clubs or programs like the American Society of Mech. Engineers or Chico Rocketry/Aerospace Club
