In these verses, God states that the promises were made to Abraham, "As of one" and to "thy seed," the Lord Jesus Christ, and "not to seeds, as of many," meaning it was not referring to a group of descendants or heirs. All families of the world would be blessed through the lineage of Abram, the Lord Jesus Christ, that was to come. The "great nation" that would receive God's blessing, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, would be those of faith in Christ, the Christian nation. Romans 2:28, “For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; {MM: the Holy Spirit} and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter." {MM: living according to the law of Moses.} Therefore, Christians are the Jews of spiritual Israel, by the circumcision of the heart by the Holy Spirit. Philippians 3:3, "For we are the circumcision which worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh." {MM: obedience to the law of Moses} 1 Peter 2:9-10, speaking to Christians, "But ye are a Chosen Generation, a Royal Priesthood, an Holy Nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy." Jesus, the Light of the World, has given believers the Holy Spirit, our light in darkness. Therefore, we are the Chosen people of God, a Royal priesthood and a Holy Nation. The Lord Jesus spoke a parable concerning the kingdom of God. Matthew 21:40-44, "When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? Therefore say I unto you, the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof" John 5:23, "So that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father Who sent Him." 1 John 5:1, "Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of Him." John 2:22-23, "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also."
