Today, September 4, 2024, marks the third anniversary since I first opened LMMS and started music making.
It hasn't turned out to be quite the smoothest endeavor, but I have learned a lot through the desire of getting better at it.
This is a hobby I am fond of because of my love for music and videogames, but it is also an opportunity for me to expand my knowledge of this area.
As an aspiring Game Developer and Director, I need to know the ins and out of everything I can if I want to create the best experience in my works!
Of course, I've still got a long way to go, but I believe I am able to consider myself a musician, and stand proud on how far I've come.
This video is the third entry in the 'My attempts at music making' series, and it marks the end of an era for me, as I intend on changing DAW and learning more of music theory and composition with a more serious interest, after completing my latest track: 'I Love You [716]'.
This track is quite special to me, as the concept of it started as a song I'd dedicate to myself, 'Serenity'. However, I ended up abandoning the track almost two years ago, as my perfectionism didn't allow me to keep enjoying making it. Instead, I grew satisfied with leaving it incomplete, while still clinging to the thought of completing it someday, when the timing was right.
I don't think that timing ever came.
I think I just came to realize that imperfections can be perfect too, in their own special way.
But enough of that for now. To keep on with tradition, I must mention once again that these videos are not meant to showcase a focus on unique tracks, but more so of my process at music making through various renditions.
As per usual, I'll give the rundown on each series of tracks featured:
To begin with, the 'Koopa Rap' series of tracks was originally composed with the intention to be featured on the 'Infernal Bout' FNF mod as the 'Super Mario Bros. Super Show's' 'BAD RAP' inspired track.
Things happened and they ended up sticking with 'Rapland', but I still took the time to finish the track I wanted to make back then at a later date.
The track samples the intro song from the 'The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3' series in Portuguese, and makes reference to melodies featured throughout the intro and outro of the series. The reason I sampled the Portuguese version is as simple as it being the version I grew up with. The track replicates the drumbeat featured during the entire episode of 'Super Show's' 'BAD RAP', and also uses the main melody of the track 'Time to Run', featured in the 'Super Mario World' series on the episode 'King Scoopa Koopa', titled as 'A Lanchonete do Koopa' in the Portuguese dub.
The track also borrows from the main melody of 'Bowser Jr.'s Mad' from Mario Party 9, and, last but not least, there is a melodic reference to 'Rapland' as well! Like, the actual song from the Infernal Bout mod…
I ended up naming the track like this because of the new scenario I envisioned this track for, as I had already abandoned the original purpose of the song, which was for the 'Infernal Bout' mod, midway through its composition.
