    If you are not staying with m names I would have said stormy for the curious one, perhaps and stream for the sweet one. The circumstances when you got them seem appropriate. Apparently Marka is an Indian name for steady rain, and Makani is Hawaiian for wind, Moani is Hawaiian for gentle fragrant breeze. Just thoughts.

    Given I don't pay attention to plants much, I'm impressed by your knowledge. Say, is jam the kind with the fruit bits in? And what is "tart" in terms of flavor? Sour or something like it, maybe? I know tart is a type of dessert, but I'm not familiar with other meanings of the word. P.S. I love your montage music choice, it's calming. :D

    • @twistedcape
      @twistedcape Місяць тому

      Jam is where you mash the fruit whereas a preserve has whole or nearly whole fruit. The fruit was pretty mashed by the time I was done with it. Tart is describing a flavor profile. It makes you want to pucker a bit. Imagine a lemon and how sharp the flavor is and how it makes your mouth water. Sour is not as intense and has bitter notes. At least that's how I would describe it. We all taste differently.

    If Google is correct 100°F is about 37-38°C. O.O I hope all of you have enough to drink. P.S. What the Hell are people thinking when they try to breed animals of clearly incompatible sizes?! All that will happen is that everyone involved in the process will suffer, especially the mom and the offspring. I'm guessing they also mourn the loss of their young. - Your girl seems to be doing well, but it must have been difficult. :( Hm, do goats accept hugs? I know dogs don't appreciate human style hugs because they feel boxed in. Not sure how that would work with goats.

    • @twistedcape
      @twistedcape Місяць тому

      They didn't do it on purpose as they had no idea they could be bred at such an early age. An accident, but yes still tough on the moms. It was a while ago, but she is okay. Not really a hug, but cuddles. They like to come over and lay next to you or lick you. It's Iike their version of a hug :)

      @@twistedcape Ah, I follow, thank you for clarifying. :) I thought the bad breeding match up was intentional. My apologies if an accusation was thrown around needlessly. I guess it's just incredibly easy to sympathize with animals as they might not have a choice or even fully understand what's happening to them in such situations. - That has to be incredibly scary. Oh and thank you for notes on how goat affection works. :D

    Love your videos! So cool to see Acacia too! I have a twisted question. I hear there are many things in the wild that goats can’t eat. Do you know what everything is in your fields and woods? I will be buying a farm soon and want to have goats. I have read a lot about how to raise them but I have learned more from the videos I watch like yours. How do you identify the things in your fields?

    • @twistedcape
      @twistedcape Місяць тому

      Depending on where you live, your local agriculture department can help. I'm not aware of any noxious plants in my field and have never had an issue. Be careful tho as some ornamentals like azaleas may cause an issue.

    Hm, are guineas related to turkeys? They look a bit similar to me, but otherwise, I haven't heard of these birds before. They might look small, but I'm guessing by their build they can rather quite fast. P.S. What are the whitish-brown growths hanging from the tree?

    • @twistedcape

      They are related as both are game birds in the order Galliformes. That hanging stuff is Spanish moss. A real common sight here.

      @@twistedcapeThank you very much. :) I think I'll head to Wikipedia next to get the basics down. It's always cool to have a new research topic. :D

  • @NiceLittleWolfie
    @NiceLittleWolfie 2 місяці тому

    I see they appreciate being petted, nice. :D (Though I'm personally biased towards canines first. :) ) Say, do such small breeds usually not have horns? I can tell Thor is somewhat bigger than his female counterpart, but outside of having it pointed out to me that he's a male goat, I'd likely mistake him for a girl with the lack of horns. XD Or do female goats also have horns? ... How does all that work? (It's rather late at nearly 11 p.m. here and I'm a bit confused now.)

    • @twistedcape
      @twistedcape 2 місяці тому

      All goats, boy or girl get horns. Some of them, like Thor, are naturally hornless.

    • @NiceLittleWolfie

  • @NiceLittleWolfie

    Hm, they might appreciate the request to pass along some petting once they get older and more used to being handled. Say, is it like humans for animals in the way that some individuals hate being touched while others adore it? And is there an etiquette for petting domestic animals? With dogs and cats, I think I have it down with letting them sniff me and letting them approach you at their pace, if they seem comfortable (dogs are usually more open than cats and will usually go towards you if they like touch, with felines it's best to wait until they demand to be petted to be sure); but I don't recall having tried to pet a pig or a goat, given I live in a city.

    • @NiceLittleWolfie

      @@twistedcapeDuly noted. I'll check if the local zoo has that option. :) Is there an approach that's different from cats or dogs, or will what I already do suffice? Asking so I won't spook the little ones by accident. I'd prefer to be respectful and ensure they feel as comfortable as possible - animals deserve personal space and their boundaries about it respected the same way people do. :)

    • @twistedcape

      @@twistedcapeUnderstood, thank you very much. :D If I get confused, I'll ask a zookeeper for advice - animals mostly go with body language on such matters and my autism sometimes makes me confused about how to interpret non-verbal ques (be it from animals or people).
