HOT TAKE But I really dislike the episode BATS (don’t remember the exact number). It’s basically the same as Over a barrel but done to Applejack and the Apple family. And if over A barrel is messed up (which it is) then so is Bats. And not to mention flutter shy was basically the one who said it was ok for the bats to do that, just like how in over a barrel pinkie sings that song. Applejack had every right to not want the bats there and not just because they DESTROYED her trees and produce but they destroyed the whole orchard and apples are one of the pony’s main food sources. And yes the bats had the potential to make the trees better but that would only happen once the trees grew from scratch again. But they still destroyed applejacks whole orchard and probably cost the pony’s a lot of food in apples. What really pisses me off tho is how everyone is so chill with them at the end of the episode and how they apologize to fluttershy for not listening to her sooner, when she basically defended colonization, if you wanna go there.

2, 4, 6, Greaaat and The Cart Before The Ponies are the only two episodes I genuinely just didn't like/intentionally skipped over. Even the early Spike episodes (which were dog water btw) had their own charm to them/were worth watching. But I just don't like when the writers, who usually have the episodic format down to a science, just randomly make the characters insufferable for an episode. Like, these aren't just flaws (like being too competitive or not listening or how Twilight regressed a bit in the trivia episode, but had a reasonable reason i.e. the Trivia not being Princess related), they're different characters entirely. I also saw that some people didn't like the Rainbow Dash parents episode, I believe it was a good concept with pretty poor execution. The part where Rainbow snaps was entirely justified, but the writers really should have toned the parents down a bit so that they weren't genuine criminals lol (like the fireworks was just actually disproportionally dangerous compared to just them cheering). The message in the end was decent, the part where they cheered even when she came last to the point where her ego actually gets reflected in her abilities was both funny, concerning but also sweet. But like why did they have to shoot the Wonderbolts mid air immediately before this lesson was dropped? And then they try guilt trip you with Scootaloo and it's like... just let us feel the emotions, just do what you guys usually do, BE MATURE AND SUBTLE WE CAN TAKE IT.

The fandom making Scoot an orphan has been so ingrained in my mind i forgot she has parents in the canon of the show. Especially in the context of a kids show, like the found family shes formed in Ponyvile is important and valid as any other family in the which is good to tell kids but also Scoot is like 10 years old at most right?? What her parents and aunts are doing to her is textbook child neglect, which is weirdly permitted by the show? You really shouldn't tell kids that your guardians living you for years on end is okay, they should have just made her an orphan or sm

This show has a lot of episodes full of racism plots where racism isn't the problem to be solved; The problem is people resisting racism. As much as with the scootaloo parents episode it would feel better to see them rightfully told they're wrong. For kids who are actually in this situation and watch the show, the last thing they'd want to see is a message to say their parents are horrible people. Maybe when they're out of the situation. But while they're in it? It's not comforting and it's barely validating. All it does it hurt

I am native American and the whole colonization episode ANGERS ME like if you’re gonna teach history DO IT ACCURATELY this doesn’t just apply to hasbro/mlp but schools aswell. I have heard that people are being taught more about my ancestors culture and history but clearly it isn’t enough.

as a native girl, the colonization ep always upsets me, but compared to other indigenous rep, this was much better as u can empathize with the buffalo and find the settlers wildly wrong and obnoxious. I hate that the buffalo had to share, but im happy that atleast they were treated with love and care in some parts of the episode
