We like it Long, Hard & Dirty! Ultra endurance cycling off the beaten path. Compete against yourself and enjoy the scenery along the way. Great rides, greater company and years of stories to share. Gravel grinders, bikepacking and any other unpaved endurance riding you can think of.

Yes, I know how to change a flat. I was hoping to be able to get away with using a plug instead of tearing apart the tubeless setup.

Bar end bacon strips from muckoff - best clearance $12 I spent. Remove bar end, plug, pump, ride.
Calling in a SAG is just another tool in the kit. Use as needed.
Great to see you back on the bike Kevin! You mentioning hunters reminds me of the 2013 Red River Riot, when I had a couple of gunshots buzz by me. Always makes me consider the season when I ride in typical hunting areas. Happy holidays to you and your family!
Greetings, Today I used my Ace during a group ride. While drafting the person to my front I noticed as I move to the left or right side of his wheel the number would change; the lower the better. I was able to maximize the draft the entire ride. Now when I had to pull, those numbers looked like my speed because of the headwinds. I’m all about innovations so this new device is what was needed. I was ringing that bell 🛎️ today. Everyone was like 😳 it has a built in bike bell? Yes 😂. More updates are on the way for this device, but for now I’m just going to keep enjoying it. My old devices are element roam v2 and garmin edge 1040 plus.
Glad it's working for you!
I have a garmin 1040 and I hate it. The touch screen is sensitive to rain drops and when it rains my screen cannot be adjusted. I want buttons like the wahoo has. I also like the bigger screen. I’m not blind, but an easier to read screen when I’m riding is great so I don’t have to stare at it for too long. 30hrs battery life(or almost maybe) is an improvement, but I don’t really need it. Is it worth $600, I don’t know. I want it and once I read more reviews I may get one in the spring, but I’m not in a hurry. Thank you for your thoughts.
Powered hubs are flatted on two sides so they don't rotate in the dropouts. Rear wheels are just a pain with the dirty chain/derailleur. Unhooking the connector isn't too bad. I use silicone grease to prevent sticking. Buy a single box wrench for that size nut and toss it in the tool bag. I wish I could say it will prevent flats😁. Tubeless can be plugged without removing the wheel and tubes can be patched - unless it's dark, raining or snowing. Any breakdown is a nuisance. Nice bike.
I went Tubeless many years ago and I HATE it. I was doing it because I let the talking heads on the web convince me that it was "BETTER".. Not worth the hassle, and definitely not worth the mess. FOR ME.. I still have a couple of bikes that are tubeless, but only because they havent failed me in a few years and Im not looking forward to cleaning them when the time comes.
That hasn't been my experience at all. Tubeless has been a blessing in my book. No system is perfect but tubeless is much less hassle and more dependable than tubes. I doubt I've ever gone more than 6 rides on tunes without a flat. Tubeless will go years.
If It aint broken dont fix it, there are inserts for air tires. Use them with air and not sealant. If you have the correct PSI the correct Tires you dont puncture. I ride trials not trails, have puncturers 2 times a year, And I ride concrete edges, walls etc. and commute 365' a year. A tubeless puncture is 10, 20,mins, an innertube, 5 mins at the most. I learnt that at Local Bike Shops most engineers are pissed and under pressure, so I decided how to maintain my bike myself. I suggest you do the same. After all it s a tire problem not an E-Bike problem.
I've been doing tubeless for 20 years and it works great. It has been so long since I had a tubeless flat that the plugs had gone bad. That was the point.
@@Spinistry Different disciplines I guess, but I ollie onto 90degree walls and land on the corner, and because of my Tire pressures I never get a flat,a pinch flat, with inserts with air. Im not riding downhill, so I cant attest for thorns etc. But Im riding through glass everyday, doing big drops also. Maintain your own bike, it will be cheaper in the long run. Im a senior rider too. If that helps any. Plugs , Ive never used them on a Bike, on my car, sometimes.
The Confluence is an absolutely awesome machine. Sorry about your experience. Definitely a bit of a trick compared to analogue bikes
I’m sorry… a bike shop in 2024 doesn’t know or believe or carry plugs?
🤯
I couldn't believe it myself.
Is that road even rocked?
How you like those things?
I have the Kitchen Sink bar and the Control Grips. I absolutely LOVE that setup. I have another bike that I'd like to try the riser bar on. It's a bit low for me and not enough steer tube to go any higher.
I’d kind of like my gravel bike to be a bit more relaxed like my MTB. Thinking about trying it out.
I’m nine years old and I ride my bike every day and I swear do you I got your back and I think you’re really great person are you my UA-cam channels to me now I have the sky was your life you have 10
the routes library in ridewithgps is my favorite part about the membership easily. Super awesome!
Thank you! That means a lot to us.
Hey Kevin! Good to see another ride video, especially in a foreign location 😉. Seems like you ride more and enjoy riding the e-bike, so why not make it your #1?
I prefer the sense of accomplishment from my own effort and I still want the ability to do multiday backcountry adventures on the bike. Those types of adventures aren't feasible if you need to recharge a battery.
bad ass!
great video. is the route available to the public?
Looks awesome!
Gravel!!!!!!!
Very sorry I couldn’t join you Sunday. Family duty called.
What camera are you using?
Dude! How the heck did you get the camera to pan around by itself while you were riding?
Missed that one! Will have to link up with you guys another time. There are some fun gravel rides west of ft worth. Just did an epic one in Thurber. ❤
Your data overlay froze during the single-track and never kicked back in. If possible, would love to see an elevation profile for the ride in the video. You managed the trail well with the drop-bar. Enjoyed the video!
Yes, I knew the data froze for some reason during the edit but I couldn't find a way to fix it. Both the Strava and Ride With GPS links in the description contain elevation profiles.
What software did you use for the data overlay?
Insta360 studio. It requires their cameras linked to an appropriate GPS device. I'm tempted to invest in Telemetry Overlay for more options/control.
Love the data overlays, especially the map, but I get the complexity. Go with what's easiest. The most important thing is to keep your ride cadence momentum.
Science! Love it! Glad you battled to the end even though that had to be pretty boring.
Is the Hwy 380 trailhead still open? - Nm. You mentioned it at the 3 min point.
Great video! Thanks for all the helpful info.
Thanks for doing this one! I used to fly radio controlled planes out there when it was a strange Irving Park in Dallas City limits.
Kevin, what saddle and tires model and size do you have on that bike? That trail is close to where I live. I'll have to give it a try sometime.
I'm a leather saddle guy but I can't remember this exact model. It was a one year only thing a while back and no longer available. I plan to try Selle Anatomica brand next time I need a new saddle. The tires on this bike are the Teravail Ehline 2.3's.
Cool video. Will you post a map of this route?
Strava and Ride With GPS links are in the video description.
@@Spinistry Great thanks!
Thanks for doing these videos and providing the route!
Great to see you riding.
Didn't hear any wind noise in the mic. Nice audio setup.
Cool video! I clicked on it on a whim, and discover I know exactly where you’re riding and have ridden there myself. Admittedly I skipped through, so you may have addressed this, but just fyi I believe basically all the gravel in the first half of the video (the right turn off of the first road next to the hunting land) is private property and the ride might be trespassing. Either way, great vid and thanks for taking us along.
Loved your video! You have great knowledge about the area where you rode your bike. I am new to Texas and I bike every day near Melissa. I hope you have been there. I suggest you try livestreaming your bike rides; people could have conversations with you while you're streaming.
Did the camera battery give out?
Yep, without warning. The screen showed a warning and acted like it was still recording so I did an outro but it stopped recording at the point the warning came up.
I've always had good luck parking at the Charles Haws Athletic Center, there's a police station in sight of the parking lot. And it's in the middle of the trail, so you can always start into the wind.
That's what friends are for! The NETT?
Local road near Denton called Corbin Road.
Love the rambling videos and miss the pre-event ones, but I understand the limited time availability. I know you have the POD, but something like this every 2-4 weeks with some thoughts on: what's been going on with you; coming/future Spinistry events; and general gravel thoughts would be enjoyable. Also, enough of the e-bike shame. We're blessed to be able to ride on any bike. God bless, Kevin!
❤ you have a beautiful blanket on the wall. I love Kevin Lee.
Thinking about joining the carbon membership, but I think I will be too far north, (mineral wells) you guys are sat based?
We operate out of DFW.
@@Spinistry well in that case! heck yeah I will sign up. moving from Nv, the gravel in the sierra nevadas is fun, but I am looking forward to Tejas, gravel junkie/nerd acomin!
too bad they arent doing it anymore, looks bad ass!
Happens every January. We'll be back in 2025.
@@Spinistrysweet! I’ll def be there.
spirit of gravel is very alive in well. especially with what we are seeing at sea otter every year the tech gets better and more interesting. But depends on where you live.
Your going to need more then new bars to finish before me out there 😅
Im on my 4th season with my roll. It originally came set up as a hybrid on 28s . I could do slower group rides 15,16 avg. I took off the chain ring protector and eventually started dropping the chain. SwitchEd to narrower bb and a narrow wide chainring. Problem solved . I currently have it set up for light gravel on 32s and surly corner bars. I also have a set of knobby 40s that I use from time to time. Compared to my road bike the roll is a bit slower, more relaxed and way more cushy. You can set this bike up a ton of ways just by switching bars, tires, and stem. Ive done maybe 5k or so and long rides up to 60 mi no problem. Great all rounder good at everything great at nothing. Favorite bike for rail to trails here in Cbus, OH . Mine has 46 chainring 11-36 on the back . 10 speed. Its just okay, but right for the market they are targeting. I would recommend for beginners or riders getting back in the saddle but not ready to drop coin on a bike from the big three.
Looks like fun. Awesome video! Forgot to introduce the good puppy dogs.
Great video! Thank you for sharing. I cannot wait to move back to Texas and ride these roads with y'all.
So so so much fun
But was it fun?
@@ShawnMcAfee No. Not at all. Stay away.
