Honda Element Power Sunroof/Moonroof Success!
Переглядів 2,2 тис.3 місяці тому
After 26 revisions, here is (as far as I know) the world's first operational power sunroof / moonroof in a Honda Element. It works with or without the side window modification that I have also done. Since I believe in retaining factory functionality when doing mods, this also retains the ability to open the sunroof manually and remove the glass entirely. I have a few months of testing to do, bu...

Already tested staying open at highway speeds and water tight under heavy rain. Stay tuned, available soon...

03-06 Honda Element visor WITH MIRROR in an 07+

Adding the pre-facelift sun visors to a facelift element is not new. however, I don't like losing factory features when I modify my car, so I found out you can install a passenger side mirror in the driver side visor so us 07 guys don't lose that makeup vanity mirror in the search for better sun visors. 😜 write up: www.elementownersclub.com/threads/driver-sun-visor-swap-with-mirror.173305/#post...
Honda Element corner markers wired to combo parking/turn signals
Переглядів 4107 місяців тому
Instructions and picture guide here: www.elementownersclub.com/threads/how-to-corner-marker-light-as-a-turn-signal.173198/ This lets the corner marker work as a parking light AND turn signal, instead of losing parking light functionality to work only as a turn signal as many others have done. each corner marker runs through its own relay with a turn signal trigger to accomplish this.

Nerf flywheel blaster: Does a brass barrel help?
New mod: turn the Element into a powered paraglider with a switch flip. Cliff up ahead? Thelma & Louise it!
Thanks for showcasing. Yeah, it's not designed for heavy storm use, but considered a 3-season, fair weather way to enjoy additional cubic volume in your Element. If wanting to live in it for heavy rain use, I'd suggest scotch-guarding it for additional protection plus seeing where there may be potential water intrusion spots to see if a rain fly would help, just like with any outdoor tent. Enjoy using it, and the missing 2 snaps are in the mail to you.
Look into I think it’s the Honda Odyssey or the Chrysler Town & Country but they have powered vent windows in the rear because they’re big vans. You can never get to the rear to open in them up so from the front they have powered maybe you could look into those motors and controllers for that. But great work!!
Hell yeah that’s awesome!!!!
Looking forward to the Finished product
Will these be restocked? I can’t find on the website
These aren't on elementdiy.com yet, expect them to come available in July
Those tongs are IMPOSSIBLE to squeeze in every Element Ive been in.
Needs more grease! It's metal on metal under pressure, I can see why
i hooked up underglow on mine with buttons on the inside and it looks amazing
Wow, how satisfying to see them open and close. Odd as it may seem, it's fun.
Noice
Fantastic! You have some excellent mods…
This one is a keeper. I’ll take one. The drivers side one would hit my controls.
I’m loving this! I wonder if my hand controls would be in the way
I'd be happy to send you one to find out.
@@averycolburn have you decided on a price?
@@brianthompson9241 Yeah, it's based on print time, looks like $22, which includes shipping to the US. I am also in the prototype stage for a passenger version as well
@@averycolburn oh, a passenger version may be better for my use. I have much more room on that side.
@@brianthompson9241 printing now, should be an easy make since it's similar to the driver side. Keep an eye out here or on the multitude of element Facebook groups
Should have been an OEM option. Nice work!
Thats awesome
I try my best!
I am hoping to make it up this year. Thanks for the drive through of the trek. I better bring my Dramamine! 🤣
It's swervy! I'll be there again, come find me, blue 2008 with the power Moonroof demo
Why u be deleting comments? ☹
Im not? If you see comments disappearing it's UA-cam's fault.
Yeah, I had to go back and check, but the video is set as not for kids and comments are on. Not sure what problem you're having but I'm not deleting anything.
@@averycolburn Check to see if it went in spam for some unknown reason! All I did was offer an alternative for those of us who suck at DIY stuff.
Sorry bro, nothing in the "held for review" section... post it up here as a reply maybe?
Any adjustments possible by the end user? I’d like to see the angle a bit flatter. So if I have an open can, the liquid doesn’t pour out if close to full.
such a great idea !!!
You’re the genius behind the the TikTok account? ElementDYI? This is awesome, regardless. Makes me want to cut my roof off and weld this in.
I am not, elementDIY is run by a friend of mine. He currently sells my door cubby and powered rear door window designs though.
Just curious what state you are in?
North Carolina!
Very impressive ❤
I think I remember you saying you had experience with car audio. Is that correct? If so, I’m looking for recommendations for a head unit that has wireless CarPlay and a good quality back up camera. But I don’t want one of those floating big screens. I want the largest screen that can fit flush in the stock location. Could you recommend something?
Wireless car play is a pain. Pioneer makes a decent no-cd head unit, it's an NEX number. The model escapes me. For the camera, I recommend rydeen
@@averycolburn when you say wireless CarPlay is a pain, what do you mean? Is it a pain to find one? Or is it a pain to use? Is it better just to go with a wired version?
@@brianthompson9241 it drains your phone battery and is expensive to implement, but the pioneer seems to be pretty affordable. The P/N is DMH-W2770NEX
@@averycolburn thank you
dang yo, this is sick
Thanks. Still working out the kinks. I'm on version 43 now.
@@averycolburn that is perseverance for sure, good stuff
Glass is still removable too! ua-cam.com/video/jkPCFM_glUU/v-deo.html
Excellent! I need to do this.
Me too!
That is amazing. Can't wait to see the finished package ready to receive in the mail.
Soon!
Amazing! I absolutely want this for mine
This is so cool!
Avery how much to install this
If I were installing, as an installer, I would charge you 2-3 hours. The kit itself will probably be north of $400, there is a LOT of printing and assembly to do just like my side windows. They should be available for sale soon via elementdiy.com
@@averycolburn great thanks Avery. You side windows is awesome but that sunroof is a game changer. I would pay 400 easy for that mod. I would want to buttons though. One in the front and 1 in the back. I really like watching your vids. You pretty creative. Keep it up!
@@_craig_macc You can have as many buttons are you want for operation! The button just powers the motor controller, so put a button wherever you want and wire them in parallel so that they all can move the motors. I know of one case where someone put three buttons all attached to their side windows: one in the driver door, and one of each rear side doors
@@averycolburn that's cool Avery I certainly will do that when this is available. Appreciate what you do for the Element community!
This is dope 👍🏻
Honda pilot switch nice work
🔥🔥
Sick i need this
Niiice
moonroof is clear. Sunroof is solid / retractable solid. Thought maybe you converted it to a sunroof. That said, great add. Would love that option, but can't justify the work / cost yet. Great that it can still be removed.
So, Moonroof? Idk. I don't keep track of these things, and if I don't, I assume others don't either. Consider the title SEO.
Wow 🤩
Want this...bad
Available soon, hopefully! I have to make sure nothing breaks or leaks too easily!
Nice, install one on mine?
I can eventually, let me iron out all the kinks in this one first though
Sweet!
That is siiiiiick! Nice work man! Can't wait to see the final product.
Give me a week. I need that larger power supply to keep the controller from browning out, and I need to integrate a magnet to keep the handle "sucked up" into the ceiling. Manual operation and removable glass features still retained. Watch this space.
That’s a great idea!
Let me know when ready for sale. Cash in hand
So you used halogen fogs but scumbag LED headlights?
Halogens came with the fogs, so I'll use those till the give up. Sorry you don't like LEDs I guess?
@@averycolburn it’s not that I don’t like them, it’s that nobody likes them. Do you enjoy being blinded for absolutely no reason besides some idiot is trying to look cool but can’t afford a headlight upgrade? No, you don’t. So why is it ok for you to blind everyone else? Either use the proper bulbs for your headlights or do a real upgrade, stop being a scumbag.
Does it open both sides?
Yes, servo on both sides, one buttons opens/closes all.
@@averycolburn I suppose if you wanted to, it would be possible to have a left and right button? Likely more trouble than it is worth, but possible if you want to get fancy?
I went with off roads yellow fog lights much brighter
Love it!
Great video!
I was looking at Element Lifestyle's video on this (ua-cam.com/video/Vx2ObM4Hl3U/v-deo.html) and he's not using any relays. What's the difference? Is a relay really necessary?
Edit: looks like he's just attached the corner markers to the turn signals. They are now turn signals, and don't come on with parking lights. Mine still work as parking lights when the turn signals are not on, like they did from the factory.
Amazing! I’ve been wanting to add lighting to my wheelchair ramp on the passenger side of my Element. This looks like it would be perfect!
It would be in the exact place it's needed
Also, what is recents it from working with LED lights? And is there a workaround for it?
Yes, with 2 relays per light. One relay to alternate between ground and 12v when the turn signal is on, and one relay to send that to the light depending on if the parking lights are on. It complicates the wiring for sure, but is doable.
The reason it doesn't work with LEDs is that with the parking light off, the power side of the corner marker is a ground, so we switch the ground side of the light to +12v to get it to flash. Then with parking lights on, the turn signal does the same thing but 12v on both sides would turn off the corner light, which is why it alternates instead of flashes in unison with parking lights on
@@averycolburn Next question. Would you be willing to assemble the needed parts so that it could be as close to plug & play as possible? (For a fee of course)
@@brianthompson9241 actually, I take that back, I tried to draw it out several times and could not get a synchronized parking light and turn signal when the parking light is on. Sadly I can't solve the de-sync. The issue is a turn signal off is the same as a turn signal in-between flashes, so an in-between flash turn signal would default to allowing the parking light to pass through a relay, so you'd go from on to on. No flash. With an Arduino taking inputs and spitting outputs down the pipe while waiting 1-2 seconds after receiving the last turn signal input, it could be done, but that's a bit overkill for what I had in mind. If you don't mind the de-sync but want LED functionality, that is still possible with a little more work and still a single relay. See my element owners club post for that revision
@@averycolburn Yeah, I see how that could be overkill to adjust for the G sink. What about my question involving combining all the parts together and making it as plug-and-play as possible?
