My truck is D13-TC 455 High TQ w/13 Speed Xseries Mack/Volvo iShift, 2.47 and it Outpulls my Prior X15 with 3.08 rears. *ALSO* Most people don't know you can change the shifting software to more Aggressive shifting. The D13-TC will also get 10Mpg reliably vs 8-8.5 with X15. For front stability, most are set too high with the Air Ride and lowering about 1.5" will turn it into the ride of a Tour bus. Usually you can do the same with the rear but occasionally you have to swap the shims on the Ubolts to get the pinion angles correct. Ride is dramatically smoother and highly recommended adjustment. *I'D HIGHLY DISCOURAGE GETTING THE PANEL BUTTON SHIFTER ON DASH, Get the Seat mounted one and it's soooo much nicer to drive. No looking for buttons , taking eyes off the road to shift up and down when you want to. 👍🏻

Do you have the air ride front axle? I hated that, made me feel disconnected from the road. On the transmission, you won’t get full torque on E and EE mode only on P. Call Volvo uptime and tell them you want performance mode set to manual. It will be updated over the air and when done you can set to performance and it will stay there and not revert back to economy mode on its own and will give you full torque all the time.
If you spec'd the truck correctly and got the right programming, it would be fantastic. Typical problem, poor dealer training and lack information results in this. When have the knowledge and information, you can spec a volvo, learn how to drive it correctly, you have a 10 out of 10. Programming can be fixed easily by picking the right package and having it updated. Steering issues, get is aligned correctly on all axles, set caster to 2.5 degrees. Change the dash shift selector and go back to the seat shift selector and gain back several features. Kickdown pedal with right programming works great and have to make sure its enabled correctly in the programming. Ishift tranny is a fantastic unit and many years of proven use in many countries. Its not new to America and has been here a while. We are pleased with our volvo trucks, our complaint is the plastic breaks too easily.
I love the truck, but it has constant engine light issues. Brand new out the door and nothing but problems with transmission, turbo, and ECU’s. They already pulled transmission at 50,000 miles to fix it. Been nothing but a lemon for 6 months!
@@thomastucker8182 wow, that’s sad ! What is your dealer doing with regards in getting volvo involved to solve the problem ? I would call volvo corporate and get them involved if they are not already.
Yeah we love our 860 and 760 trucks with the iShift they're historically bulletproof in every one we've had. If you drive it like a car automatic trying to hold the truck on a hill at a stoplight you'll COOK THE CLUTCH. Learn to drive the truck correctly and the clutch will last a million miles easily. Also helps to set the Parameters to NOT ALLOW starting in D mode any higher than 1st gear. Your clutch life will thank you. 🎉
What’s your Horse Power setting? Which I-Shift Transmission? Final Drive Ratios? How often do you use the Performance/Economy switch? Have you had the Front End Alignment checked? Do you have Dynamic Steering? I owned a VNL 780, 2011 model. No downing grobes. Just a Schizophrenic NOX Sensor.
Best g/box on the market, especially the dual clutch ... if they just sell it to DAF(Paccar),MAN,etc...I never understand Americans, driven most things, outwith Chinese and Russian
its called a lemon... otherwise great truck assembled on a monday or friday..... i have a lemon cascadia that had to have the transmission rebuilt in less than 7k miles and a leaky rear diff. ofc it was made on a monday in mexico.
Volvo by now is the leading constructor of Trucks here in Europe. By what I know is that the engine and gearbox is the same than in Europe and its not beaten by any competitors still. Never drove something extremely thoughtout and can't really relate to your problems.
If they are the same and have the ratio's that is. In the US they drive allot faster then in Europe, we generally do around 50/55 mph, us I believe doing 70/75 is cruising wich makes it a different ballgame. @Thomas Tucker: I see your trans is operated by buttons on the dash, for as we have more like a gearboxlever/joystick if you will to operate the box. I have a M Manuel function on mine, I can select a gear by a flip flop switch likexwhere the high/low range switch use to be.
Nice rig, I drive 2017 FH4 460 (the EU version of the VNL) Heard some more complaining about Ishift, but also heard verry positive experience. What immediately caught my I was the fact that you have the 2013 up model steering wheel, but still have the pre 2013 (FH3) model dashboard
I personally LOVE my Volvo. 2016 model, I have the I shift beside ur seat and that works GREAT. That DASH auto shift needs to be trashed and go back the the seat I shift. U have to look at the dash and pay attention to NOT run off the road. I Love the Volvo engine works great. Awesome truck u have sir, I have NEVER had a brand new truck in 46 yrs of trucking
I have a 2016 with Volvo engine and ishift "joiststick" mounted by the seat too! Works great, good torque when I need it out. Hope you get the kinks worked out of yours, OP. Too bad about the transmission control location though though! I'd figure Volvo would have kept the option for it mounted at the seat
no the purpose of a volvo is to suck ass up the hills and haul ass on the flats and be driven by one of 4 types of people... pirates, wizards, the russian mob or sandal wearers.
I change the fuel filter every 15k. I have nothing but engine lights for 6 months! They pulled the transmission to repair and had to fix the turbo 2 weeks after I picked it up because it had little boost. The steering is terrible too, all over the road. I think I have a lemon.
@@thomastucker8182 Transmission IS NOT holding back the Torque. They are rated way above the 1850 lb-FT engine rating. You need to get to a dealer that knows that they're doing and REMOVE the torque limiting in the parameters. Problem solved in 5 minutes. It's software settings not the Transmission that's the problem whatsoever.
Agreed. Set-up correctly there's nothing close. The D13-TC High Torque is a pulling beast and 10mpg with Tour Bus smooth ride and very quiet inside. X15 isn't even close in engine life, NVH or MPG.

You guys get the old stuff from Europe in your new trucks. Look at the 2022 Volvo FH
How do you turn on the fog lights? I have a 2024.

There's nothing wrong with the engine and transmission are perfect. You're used to driving junk.
Video fail? Did you get the truck aligned and Caster set correctly yet ? 2.5° or more minimum Caster to keep from drifting in lane

It just needs a correct alignment. The factory skips setting them correctly with needed Caster 2.5° or higher
