Many happy memories of staying at the Caleta Hotel while visiting with my girlfriend, as her Mum had retired to Gib from England and we visited once or twice a year. Always took her Mum to dinner and drinks at the Caleta and other places at Catalan Bay. Waking up and watching the sun rise over the Mediterranean Sea, will never forget those days. Sadly her Mum passed away some years ago and we haven't returned, I would like to though. I heard that a Hilton Hotel was going to be built - ??

I visited Gibraltar a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely stunning place. The views from higher up the rock are breathtaking.

|I lived in Gibraltar, 1966 to 1969 as a serviceman's son, living on the RAF Camp at North Front. In those days you couldn't get around the Rock on the East Side. I went back to Gib in 2011 on a holiday. This video split my emotions. Sad to see my memories destroyed as per the flats at Devil's Tower and so on, but also acknowledging that progress is necessary. In 1968, I lived on the beach with good music, and not a care in the world. Now it looks a bit cramped!

Great video . Really helpful. We live in Spain but always walk across the border into GiB centre rather than drive so we still get the runway walkover 😊

Although it`s changed a heck of a lot since was was living in Gib as a child, and the flats we lived in adjacent to Eastern Beach have long since been demolished, I`d still like to go back there someday, thanks for sharing.

WOW...that was a trip down memory lane! Was stationed there 1967-69 with The Royal Ulster Rifles. The tunnel/s weren't fully completed, although I remember being in the Naval Hospital near Lathbury Barracks, and missing the yearly Gib run, which this time could be done 'around 'the Rock. Had a 250cc Honda bike....was needed with all the hills! Unfortunately, I can't really recognise most of modern Gib...so many new buildings. Remember the 'catchment' area and the beach near the hotel, which is still there, in the shade. Very interesting video, so thanks for that.😊

Your videos make me want to get back to Gib to see all the new things that have popped up. I’ll be missing the Caleta Hotel though 😢

The area near the new tunnel completely though me of as to where I was until you was back at the end of Eastern Beach. To me it seemed an unnecessary diversion. I first travelled to Gib with the Military in 1979 for a two year posting and return again in 1986 as a civillian to work at the Rock Hotel and the Wig and Gown Bar, I left Gib in 1996 to return to England where I am now retired from any further work and spend my time watching interestin videos on UA-cam. booooh. you humans will put a tunnel anywhere . it was such a nice little adventure to get across the landing strip . i was there in 1993 and watched a plane doing a start through instead of a full landing . the skills of jumbo jet pilots is just unreal . loved gibraltar

What do pedestrians and bicycle riders do to enter Gibraltar now?

Pretty weird seeing a British Territory Gibraltar driving on the right side of the road and using left hand drive cars. The reason why Gibraltar drives on the right side of the road and using left hand drive cars is because Gibraltar is bordered with Spain which is a right hand traffic country and using left hand drive cars.

It’s a lot quicker to drive towards Santa Margarita, behind La Linea, then join the Ligueron Road which leads to the A7. Driving towards San Roque is a much longer route.
