Put your money where your mouth is Bill, donate 90% of your income to poor people and put a dent in the inequality curve. It's hypocritical by you to not give away your money and at the same time want the government to take away other people's money. On a different but more relevant note, inequality should be measured based on living standards. You see most of the wealth inequality is in the form of stocks. Stocks are great and all but they don't any real value to quality of life. Does a billionaire drink water that is 5000 times better than someone with a net worth of $200,000? Does his food contain 5000 times the nutrition? If anything inequality with respect to living standards have been coming down. The only thing causing trouble to that process is people from your tribe calling for the government to have more and more regulatory power which ends up being bought by bigger companies and are used to bottleneck smaller competitors. Another thing you want that causes trouble to decreasing inequality are the subsidies you support which cause prices to inflate more than they should.

The past 3 months I have been doing a ton of research on the growing wealth gap. In 2015 former president Jimmy Carter said the U.S. Is an 'Oligarchy With Unlimited Political Bribery'. What a lot of people don't realize is that we didn't go from a Democracy to Oligarchy on specific date or year. About 30 years ago the the top 1% owned 7% of the total wealth. Today the top 1% own 40% of the total wealth in the United States of America. The Oligarchy has existed for a very long time. It is just much more powerful today.
