I had no idea that Laura Branigan was an actress until I had come across this clip. I really enjoyed her music growing up, especially "Gloria" and "Self-Control", both had a lot of air play back in the 80's.

She has... had, that's so sad,... always had a mature and strong voice, very early. The first time she'd ever sang outside of her church choir, or with family and friends, was 1974. First time she felt the "pow! I can express myself here, and they respond!" It's so very cool, that she had the experience with Meadow. Discovered so quickly, while studying acting at the the american academy of dramatic arts. Cool, even more, that her Mom let her go. lol
I am so glad she went solo. What a difference in her voice from the two. She is such a powerful singer, but you couldn't feel it with this group, imo.

Many thanks for sharing this rarity. I am shocked that Atlantic hasn't yet released this shelved album. Even a shelved Karen Carpenter solo LP received posthumous release (though not till over 12 years after her untimely death). Hopefully we don't have to wait that long to have this on a proper CD or digital release!
