Pale headed Rosella eating purple flower
The BSQ Southern Group Bird Walks were at Wynnum Board Walk and Birdhide and Kholo Botanic Gardens in October. The report can be found at
Only one video of a Pale-headed Rosella eating flowers and berries so I thought I would post that as today's video.

Hopetoun Falls is part of the Otway National Park along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. When we visited, there had been lot of rain and very strong winds which was not ideal for birding but the falls were spectacular. Recorded on the 29th of September, 2024. Barking Owl family at Schuster Park, Gold Coast
Переглядів 18416 годин тому
A lifer for us over the weekend. Sara had seen a post on the #GoldCoast Birders FB page about Barking Owls at Schuster Park. We had some visiting American tourists we were taking birding so we thought let's go have a look. To our amazement, there was not one, two or three but 5 owls, 2 adults and 3 young. A real WOW moment.
Yarramalong Weir near Millmerran, Queensland
Переглядів 7814 днів тому
Welcome to Phlap. We’re at Yarramalong Weir about 20 minutes outside of Millmerran. I’m recording this on my phone today, so apologies for the audio quality; it’s quite windy, making it challenging. The area is well-maintained by the council and usually mowed, but it can get rutted after rain, so be cautious. There’s a basic toilet facility here. The weir is beautiful when the water flows, crea...
Brown Treecreeper in Eyenesbury Forest Victoria
Переглядів 13214 днів тому
The treecreepers we are use to spend most of their time in the trees. It took us a little bit of time to realise that the bird hopping around on the ground was a Brown Treecreeper. While we only had a short time in Eyenesbury Forest in Victoria it was an interesting location and we shall go back next time we are in that area. The BirdLife Southern Queensland Southern Group September Newsletter is ready for reading. Cick on the link below. It was a pleasant walk on a beautiful Spring morning at Riverdale Park, Meadowbrook, Logan, Queensland. 54 species in total. The baby Australian Swamphens were particularly cute though funny looking, especially compared to their parents. cm.birdlife.org.au/t/r-l-tdhtluul-odikiwhiy-...

The King's Birthday Long Weekend and we decided to do something different so we headed off to Millmerran for some birding and the Camp Oven Festival. Fun Weekend. On Sunday night we cooked up dinner and watched the show. Hope you enjoy it as well. Birding videos are to come. Check out our other video locations at tinyurl.com/Birdsphlap
Anglesea Heath, Anglesea, Victoria

It was blowing a gale on the day we were there so you were not going to see any birds. It is just outside of town and worth dropping by for a look. Some good views over the local area as well. When we were here the wildflowers were just starting to bloom. Rated 3/5. Recorded on the 23rd of September, 2024. And a quick correction for the video. The other location is Harvey St (put this in your G...
Mebbin National Park, NSW.

A pretty campground with good facilities. Bird life was a little limited and best early in the morning. Being higher up in the mountains there were different species such as Woompoo Fruit-Dove and White-headed pigeon. Plenty of Eastern Yellow Robins. Rated 2/5. Recorded on the 25 April, 2024. Little Pied Cormorant drying its wings near the dam overflow

Little Pied Cormorant. Clarrie Hall Dam, NSW. This Little Pied Cormorant had just landed on the rock and begun drying its wings. I believe this photo beautifully captures the bird with the dam overflow creating a flowing water effect in the background.
White-faced Heron hunting on land
Переглядів 61Місяць тому
I have seen White-faced Herons hunting in the shallows by wiggling their feet to disturb prey, but this is the first time I have seen one use the technique on land. I guess there is no reason why the technique should not be just as effective at rustling leaf litter as we are seeing it do here.
20240615 Amamoor Day Use Area
Переглядів 18Місяць тому
A review of the Amam walk which starts opposite the entrance of the Anamoor State Forest Day Use Area. This is a very steep walk in places and requires a degree of fitness. Overall it is not much of a walk and few birds. Turn back at the cascades for a better experience unless you really like hiking. Rated 2/5 Check out our other video locations at tinyurl.com/Birdsphlap
Noisy Miner in Gum Blossom
Переглядів 5Місяць тому
Noisy Miner. Durakai State Forest. Queensland. Because of their bullish and aggressive behaviour, I think people tend to forget that Noisy Miners belong to the family Meliphagidae, which is commonly known as the honeyeater family. Here is a nice example of a Noisy Miner absolutely stuffing itself on fresh flowering gum.

Awesome so lovely video. Nice presentation.
@capturingnaturewithsandip thank you for your kind words.
I expected barking, but there is no sound
@hdrumnp they "bark' when they are more active. They were having trouble staying awake when we were there mid-morning. To much wind noise and people's background noise for audio.
Beautiful video and owl ❤❤❤
Thank you very much!
wow and peace be upon you sir from me
Wonderful video 😍
@FocusedNatureAndWildlifeByAJ Thank you
I love spending time at Lake Connewarre when I get the chance. I was also lucky enought to fly over it a couple of years ago in the air ambulance, which offered spectacular views. Are you doing the Great Aussie Bird Count this week? I counted a forest kingfisher today; a very rare visitor to the farm!
@anserbauer309 I hope you were the crew and not the patient. We plan to spend more time exploring the area on our next trip. Hopefully the weather will be kinda to us.
Wonderful video 😍
@FocusedNatureAndWildlifeByAj thank you for your comment. Much appreciated.
This is the bird I always hear on _"Gilligan's Island."_
NOTHING SPECTACULAR??????? This person describes this location as nothing spectacular and that is not the case. Mebbin National Park is a World Heritage-listed park with great bushwalking, picnicking, camping, bike or horse riding, close to Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads. This person has no idea about this area. Your 3.48minutes of disinterest astounds me.
Hi Sarah, On the day we were there the birding was pretty average to say the best, especially once you got out of the camping area. We live on the Gold Coast and visit the area regularly. Just because it is a World-hertiage listed park doesn't mean it has to be "spectacular". Maybe it was the day we were there but it really did nothing for me. But thanks for your feedback. It is always good to have another person's point of view.
Beautiful video ❤👍
Wonderful video ❤👍
Amazing fishing here too
Wow, wonderful video ❤👍
Excellent captured
Wooowww amaizing bird beautiful 🎉🎉
Wow
I heard Yoko Ono do something like that once.
Kinda sounded like my truck this morning 🙄
😆
Can never get enough of the kooks. ❤
New Guinea jungle noises?
It remembered a really good joke.
🤣
Majestic bird
Nice capture
Thank you
Sooo cute 😍
Love birds like ours babies
Красавчики!
They are indeed handsome when seen like this.
Antarctica smells like garbage
You must have been in a different area to me. The penguin colonies have a fishy smell which is unique but other than that it is the cleanest air on the planet.
These are actually a pest in Western Australia.
I have never heard of them being a pest. Why so in WA.
@@rodneyapplebyphd not native to the state.they kill off the small wildlife in the area they nest in.
Amazing so lovely capture
Tesoro❤❤❤❤❤❤
Australia's alarm clocks.
Cute little noise polluter.❤
Only thing I differ on: Not popular nor well known No strict parents I don’t like waking up so early to school but I love my teachers Other than that, it’s describing me well 🙂
Wel done for calling it what it is...their call and not the laugh we intterpret it as. Their call goes back millennia given the First Australians are known to be the longest continuous culture on earth at around 60,000 years. The Indigenous peoples history, known as the Dreamtime, relates to the call being the alarm clock for the warriors to awaken to the new day. The birds were knows as Gugubarras to the Aboriginals and apparently the early settlers heard this as the Kookaburras they are known as.
Thank you.
😂😂😂❤❤❤😂😂😂
Лишь бы с ветки не свалился 😂
Is Australia part of our Planet?
I just love them kookies so darn much I wish they were here in the UK;)
Iv never heard them being called a biscuit before.
@@boar7153 Ahhhhh…. hahahah… that’s a good one 7152… thank you;)’
Повезло какібурі , що живе в Австралії . В московії їй давно б скрутили голову і з,їли .
That's the standard jungle sound in US movies and TV shows.
This is the bird I always hear on _"Gilligan's Island."_
The problem, the average american can't tell the difference between Austria and Australia.one university student was asked how many years in a decade ,reply we haven't done that yet.
Wait, what does that have to do with a Kookaburra? Many Americans know the difference fine, I assure you.
The WORST THING about Olympus/OMS m4/3 is the battery nonsense they put us through. That $25 charger with no power supply, no USB cable and horrible bulky dual bay format sells for $160 before tax, now that's JUST MENTAL 😡
It seems to be a growing trend with all sorts of devices, no charger supplied, just a USB-C cable and if you want any form of fast charging you need to buy an expensive charger.
Kooks are too cool !
@kennyc388 they are indeed a cool bird.
Kookaburras sound like monkeys when they laugh.
So cute. Beautiful pitta bird. I love it. Thank you for sharing. Good luck phlap.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Kookaburras are so cool!
😄👋🇨🇿
I want that as my wife’s ring tone. JK Dear.😅
I can extract the audio for you if you want. email me at birdsphlap@gmail.com (and please subscribe and share)
I wish we had kookaburras in the US
Yea, and Americans would make them extinct as well with chemicals and fertilizers all over there home.
You have them in Arizona
You do, in a way. They are a member of the Kingfisher family of which there are numerous species in North America.
Helen, that would be cool to hear a kook call here, but we have loons up north and their calls are just as unique and enjoyable.
Nice capture. Thanks for sharing so wonderful video & big like
Thanks a lot 😊
