FM2 and FM2n are the ‘cut corner versions FM’. Lots of parts internally and externally were replaced by plastic and less moving parts like the Ai and non-Ai tab around the lens mount. Since it’s a fix plastic parts, it would not be able to use any lenses made before 1977. 😢

YES SHOOT FILM MY DUDE! Why take digital photos, when you can take photos on film then take digital photos of that film to share it online? Lol I'm just jealous of your leica man. I have subscribed in hopes of living vicariously through you as you shoot your leica because I'll probably never be able to own one. BTW, please don't be upset if you scroll upon my video making fun of leica owners. It was all a joke for internet attention. I don't want to get cancelled by the film community before I get a reel following.

    • @Westopher

Bluetooth does not have enough bandwidth for the navigation data that needs to go from the phone to the device. WIFi is used for that so you need to put your phone to charge otherwise your battery will drain quickly.

@@Westopher It's true that everyone has their own legitimate preferences, but there are some characteristics of the Olympus om3TI that are objectively decisive. Even the multi-spot exposure metering system alone is enough to establish the superiority of the Olympus OM3TI over any other camera of the pre-autofocus era. Even today, better light measurement has never been done, not even on the latest professional mirrorless cameras! The "magic" two buttons for highlights and shadows were crazy to use, as soon as you got used to them, you could just love them! Nikon had flash sync and the fastest mechanical shutter speed of the time, but Olympus with dedicated flash synchronized on all mechanical speeds even 1/2000. I have owned many cameras including both Nikon FM2 and Olympus, and I must say that in use Olympus was much faster and more ergonomic. The optics were both excellent but perhaps still with some advantages for Olympus Zuyko, not only in terms of image results but also for weight and size, you could carry the same photographic set and have 1 kg or less weight on your back! With the advent of autofocus, Olympus left the competition and left the field to Nikon and Canon. I have to say that the best AF cameras of the time were Nikon F100 and Nikon F6 (Canon don't hate me please) these are the reasons for my thoughts. Greetings, Alex

I hope you shoot your videos in film as well, film video cameras are cheaper than RED digital cameras, it really lowers the entry cost of large format videography. Why would someone buy a full frame digital camera to start photography? that's a silly justification to claim a lower barrier of entry, the only advantage that might offer you a full frame is shallower depth of field and lens usage but the difference is not that big compared to APS-C sensors. You have to learn so much before you outgrow such cameras, learning composition, lighting, scene setup, subject visualization etc. The irony is that many film photographers claim that you learn more with film because you have limited exposures but to me that sounds more like a lack of a learning mindset, people with lack of self control and discipline, very common for this kind of people to use crutches regardless of digital (spray and pray, not enough effort) or analog (the analog visuals give an artistic boost to their crappy photography skills, thinking they are actually better). Many film photographers say that with film you focus more on the scene but I find that highly ironic because is so simple to set up your digital camera to get a proper exposure you can focus a lot more on the moment subject and technique to capture the best shoot, depending to what you are going for. In the case of photography that involves fast paced action out of your control digital is just leaps and bounds superior to analog, try doing wildlife or sports photography, I bet you the vast majority of such professionals if not all would willingly pay you to go back to using a digital camera over analog if you swapped their camera. With film you only get feedback until you develop and inspect your photos, that takes much longer, and while that gives you a dopamine rush with the reward of seeing your work in the darkroom is only that, for many modern analog photographers is more about the reward than the photo and that's not bad, the issue is that many claim purism and superiority when there isn't such thing, with digital you can get an idea test it and improve much faster because you can always try new things, in fact it can save you a lot of money in film, so once you learned to take great photos you can use those skills on film. Just because digital cameras have a "complex" menu does not mean you can't use them if you haven't learned every setting, that's a very asinine thing to say, a 8 year old could master using such menus in a couple of days and yet is not necessary. Things that you need to learn to shoot with a digital camera; Shutter speed, Iso number, aperture, autofocus, file format and size, that's it, everything else are settings to streamline your user experience and tweak things to get the best of your gear and if you are serious about photography learning to use a menu should be nothing compared to the effort you have to dedicate to become a good photographer. Imagine if such simple things stopped outliers from accomplishing what makes them special. I could argue that with analog things get significantly more complex, you have to choose your film brand, sensitivity, color correction. Then you have to load your film to your camera and start shooting, after you blew about $20 dollars taking 72 exposures $40 if you use slide film (as of 2023) then you have to develop, you can go to get your film developed and incur significant extra expenses (about $20 to $30 a roll), time and have no control over it or develop it yourself. In that case now you have to choose a developer and a fix bath so that's more things to learn, and while they last a long time you have to mess with chemicals every now and then, you need a dark room with gear to load your rolls and develop, you must learn how to bring out your image by messing with temperature, concentration time and exposure, when you finish then dry your film, meanwhile all that happens the film can get damaged and dirty, dust is an inescapable problem unless you work in a clean room, you have to enlarge your photos unless you enjoy looking at negatives or you shoot with slide film so there is also the expense, time and learning curve of the enlarger, photo paper and its developing, then and finally then you have your photos where you can enjoy and use as feedback to better your technique. If you scan them but never print them then shooting analog is even more nonsensical. So don't say film is better than digital because it isn't. If people enjoy shooting in film that's great but they should recognize things as they are, they do it because they enjoy the process the satisfaction and the artistic facets it offers. I might sound like a Digital fanboy but I am not, I enjoy both (well not 35mm I find it silly) I like to make my own emulsions and coat plates then shoot with that, I enjoy a lot the process and capturing of an image with something I made from scratch, also I enjoy medium and large format photography because it offers incredible resolution (the only advantage I see of film over digital), I am an avid digital photographer and I love to shoot wildlife and equestrian photography, things that would become incredibly expensive with film, and I always print my best Digital photos.

@@Westopher Well it just took about 10 to 15 minutes of my time (would be so funny if meanwhile I wrote that I were waiting for development of film with caffenol) so I don't think it was wasted time, I spoke my mind. Though I find incredibly ironic that you tell me I put too much effort in voicing my view when you recorded, edited and uploaded an entire video about what you think about the subject. Is true people can shoot as they please, I just don't like when people state things that are not true or justify with illogical arguments their choices. Film is great and fun but definitely not better than digital 90% of the time.

Except for the 1/4000 s top speed, which is of limited utility, all of the features you mention are shared by many SLR cameras made in the 1960s and 1970s, and many of them have features the FM2 doesn't (and I could name several), or a better photometer, or are made entirely of extremely robust metal parts, whereas there is some plastic on the FM2. The FM2 is a great camera, but whoever claims it's "the best camera ever built" obviously hasn't had many cameras in their hands. Some suggestions to experiment with:Topcon RE Super, Olympus OM1, Konica Autoreflex T3 and Auto-Reflex, Pentax Spotmatic and SV, Nikon F and F2, Canon F1, EF and FTb, Nikkormat, Minolta SRT101 and SR-1, Cosina Hi Lite , Chinon CX, Ricoh Singlex, Miranda G and Sensomat RE and many more. Any of these is a beast that can give FM2 a good fight. And what about the Nikon FM3a? And let's not forget that already in 1960 the Konica F reached a top speed of 1/2000 s.

Shooting Portra 400 at anything over 200 will cause the red layer to become too saturated. Shoot at 400-320 for normal colors and contrast and 250-200 for more pop. It’s in the nuance. Yes film can handle more than a stop or two it doesn’t mean it’ll look it’s best at that. Btw Portra 400 at 640 can look really great too.
