I think many people still believe in a higher power but are turned off by organized religions and dogma. I would classify as agnostic but conservatives would call that atheist.

I was an atheist then Jesus changed my life. Christian to atheist just means they never were a Christian, they never were born again. Saying you don’t believe doesn’t mean He is not true,,,,,it just means you don’t believe.

I gave up religion when I finally learned how to think critically and to apply critical thinking to my religious beliefs.

No Christian professor is allowed teach in our universities now. Even though our universities were founded by Christians it’s impossible now to teach creationism in any of our universities. They teach the theory of evolution which is totally stupid. There is not even one example of evolution where life was created. But all theory without any evidence or facts. Atheism is the new white mans religion I always admire the great faith of atheists

To my knowledge all animals too are atheists. It doesn't concern them whether, there's a Supreme Being or not. Their only preoccupation is with each day's grub. Existence for the sake of existence.

I know around 25 people who have read the bible from front to back AND who are NOT pastors with divinity degrees. Of those 25 (or so) people, probably 23 of them are 'ex Christians.' The actual 'reading' of the bible (by which I mean starting at the beginning and reading all the part until you get to the end) is actively discouraged by Churches and Pastors. That is because the book (if read AS a book) is extremely problematic to the dogma being preached and sold.

Religion is the enabler of prejudice and persecution. It also causes voters to make stupid decisions in the U.S. So, add Christofacism and bigotry to the list.

I went from Christian to Spiritualism.

A friend of mine is an atheist because he took seminary courses on comparative religion. Belief in one specific description of god not only requires a belief that there is some sort of god or gods, but also the belief that by random chance you were raised to believe in the one true god rather than one of the thousands of other false gods that other religions feel equally strongly to be deserving of their faith.

...And atheists convert to Christianity. A conversion in either direction only proves a conversion. Nothing more.

If you look at the Christian apologists videos, they post "Everybody is becoming Christian again" (or among the Catholic ones "All the Protestants are becoming Catholic") at just a fraction above their lamenting "Deconstruction" or "We're oppressed by the Secular world" videos which seem to indicate they are shrinking in numbers and are outnumbered by atheists. Like much conservative thought-programming it is contradictory and gives rise to cognitive dissonance among conservative believers that they are BOTH "a rising majority" AND "an oppressed minority".

People fight religious wars to impose their beliefs on others; atheists don't fight wars to impose their lack of belief on others.

I was born and raised a Catholic, had to go to Mass every week but that stopped as soon as I left home. In my 30's I was guided by a force beyond me to read spiritual books and digest them like a starving person. After studying many religions, I returned to Christianity, and became really involved with a lot of volunteer work until I got sick. It was the most content and satisfying 8 years of my life so far. I'm not sure why God lured me into a relationship, I was formerly a morally ambivalent person

Science deals in `facts`. The word `chance` is not a viable word in scientific vocabulary. When you tell me how an this amazing, intricate universe came about, and why life is present, without using the unscientific word `chance`, then I will give up my spiritual beliefs.

The question of whether Atheism will fill the void left by Religion demonstrates a misunderstanding of Atheism. It's like asking, "If I stop playing basketball, will _not_ playing basketball fill the void basketball once filled?" Atheism doesn't fill a void. It is, merely the _lack_ of Theistic belief...and the realization the the void Religion filled was imaginary and artificial to begin with. When one stops being religious, _living one's life as one sees fit_ fills up the free time religious practice used to monopolize, and (ideally) interacting with the world through truth that is based in the objectively demonstrable replaces interacting with the world through "truth" that is based in the subjectively imaginary.

It's true that christians have turned from the faith because of the freedom given by the society built by it, but true freedom is being happy to serve and sacrifice for something higher Darkness hates the light, and darkness is in every heart, so many turn away for many reasons: Church hurt, missunderstanding the connection between faith and science, wanting to do their way (which even christians struggle with), etc. But seriously... Some even go to the point of becoming satanic. They think it's not real so they... engage with it? There was a big turning away from the faith, yes, but there's been a revival recently. Church attendance is going up. People are starting to realise that atheism does not lead a good path

I was raised in a Mainstream Protestant Church, in a quiet suburban town. They sent me to Sunday School, I attended services, we celebrated all the major Christian holidays. I never bought it. Even at 6, 7, 8 years old. It just never made sense. Meanwhile, I'm attending a very good public school and learning about Greek mythology, Roman mythology, Norse mythology. These myths were presented as just that - myths, not something to be believed. And I'm thinking, Well, hold on, what's the difference between these myths and what I'm being force-fed on Sundays? I'm pushing 70 now, and there's a train of thought that says I should be coming around as I approach the end. Not gonna happen. Mr. Pascal has lost this wager. Parents, educate your kids. It may not save their lives, but it'll save their minds. It's the 21st Century. Can we finally get over the Supreme Being nonsense? Can we grow the f**k up? We'll see. As the US plummets towards Fascism and Dictatorship, perhaps some educated kids might turn things around before real tragedy ensues... ..

Christian are monotheistic and they are becoming atheists because that is the only number that is left,zero,in ages past humans beleived that hundreds of gods existed in the trees,rivers and caves then we explored these places found no gods so humans changed to a pantheon of god who lived in the mountain tops then we exlplored hese places and and found no gods then humans changed to a trio of gods who live in the clouds then we explored the clouds and found no gods so humas chaged to a single god who lives out in space above the coulds well sure enough we explored space and found no gods so people are chagong to zero gods its just the fading of human superstition and eventually it will have no choice but to reach absolute zero.

Let's just live without religion. Us, only us, without beliefs. People ransacking, killing, raping, stealing, disregard for human life and any sense of community, and so on.

They do not take into account That without belief in God the average human being is left to his own devices because in the world a very high percentage of human beings live mired in misery and illness.and their only support is belief in God.. That is why democratic governments around the world support churches of different religions. Another thing you are not taking into account is that miracles exist and in some way they happen. I was born Catholic but I am no longer Catholic. I do not believe in an all-powerful God who is all-loving and all-understanding.That he created us imperfect and that he will punish us with hell when we die if we have not been perfect. That is a great absurdity. And yet miracles exist and are inexplicable, I testify to this because I have experienced the inexplicable miracles that changed my life completely when I was about to give up on it. Finally, I would like to recall the famous phrase from the Star Wars movies: "MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU." There must be forces in the universe that perform miracles under certain circumstances.And people in general say that God does those miracles. It is obvious that something causes these Miracles but we do not know what it is.But those miracles are definitely not performed by an omnipotent, loving and punishing God. But humans still don't know what causes those miracles. I repeat again that governments support religions in general in order to control the 8 billion human beings who inhabit the earth. There is a very famous book called VARIETY OF RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCES by William James. It is an amazing study of modern miracles.
