I got a lossy too! (I didn't get the expression pedal) I'm really starting to like it. I have been running synths into it not guitars though.
@@allweatherhaulage I'll bet that sounds awesome.
Woah you won a great deal! with the extra expression pedal! Not sure if this automated zoom is helping the video. to me personal it anoying as hell. I get it, its a simple trick to keep the viewer more engaged. But personally I would ditch that. great video
@@Dolle_Man This is good criticism. Which sort of zoom do you find the most irritating?
@ absolutely no hate from my side, it’s the zoom in and out effects. I would only use manual zoom, or get an second cam for b-roll so you can edit (I use 3 cam’s) and then you can play with different viewing angles. To keep the viewer more engaged. The zoom in and out that you use really works for socials, insta and tiktok (imo) But these are just my 2 cents.
@Dolle_Man I've taken no implications of hate from you mate. I am working with one camera (phone) unscripted and trying in post to be visually engaging given my shooting limitations. I do question "am I overdoing things? Is this good?" So actual criticism is welcome.
@ work with you got mate, I actually took a step back, 3 camera’s playing music and editing it takes too much out of me, so I’m actually using my Phone and hook it up to my IK Livestream, so its done quick. More isnt always better i’ve realised 😂
Video was fine, until you went off into your Instagram diatribe. I come to pedal videos to hear/see/experience pedal sounds, and not political whining. But it is what it is. This is your channel, and you can run it how you want. 👍
@@glacierwookie I very much appreciate this comment, genuinely. Partly because I am quite nervous addressing more serious topics and how to incorporate it in a way that doesn't overwhelm. But mostly because it means you watched towards the end and I appreciate that.
You must change strings every day then? =)
@@robkhold666 Every year is more accurate.
@@GitShiddy I think you should have just let it be, the metal thing on the Revstar. :)
@robkhold666 It's a bit of foam to fix a suboptimal design.
I love the build, love the science behind it, the woods, the stanless steel frets, the carbon reinforcements... but I cannot stand Yamaha design in electrics. I love my accoustic LL-TA, was about to buy the revstar, but the truth is I can't look at this body shape and feel inspired. It's too alien, to weird. If this Yamaha had a Les Paul like body... jesus, this would sell like water in the desert.
@@nash475 I agree with most Yamaha designs being less than brilliant. But the Revstar is the one. I can tell you from various sources they do sell like water in the desert. And deserve to.
I am into buying one soon. Probably Mid Tier with humbuckers. As to all my guitars I'll modify them. Evertune, Sustainiac and such. The pick guard goes away immediately. Your sound is playing way to loud, talking way to quiet. Work on this while cutting. That should go automatically.
@@snuups Newer videos are edited with an actual editor program.
A sheet of kitchen roll, folded, rolled and wedged under the tailpiece. Insert string in slot, rolled paper keeps it in place. Simple.
I am an engineer and have built guitars as a business. I play a Yamaha. I think they are a great value, with great engineering and built quality.
The only thing good about the pedal is the boost. It puts your amp into a sweet overdrive.
@@johnwriterpoet1783 Interesting take. Not a fuzz fan?
Goddamn you! I came in here to say something stupid/“funny” and you made cry! Im not a musician but I consider myself a “failed” actor/storyteller and relate to this so much! Love you man! ❤
@@langleymneely I'll return to regularly scheduled stupidity in future videos I promise.
I play a Revstar RS502T generation 1 in bowden green, love it!
That is a 5420, not a 5120. The pickups and inlays are different on those guitars. Also, Chet Atkins did not have a guitar in the electromatic line. That guitar has nothing to do with Mr Atkins
Also, it's not a Duo Sonic solid body. It's a Duo Jet. Premiered in 1953, not 1957. Please do your research.
@@scottwilliams6120 Apart from him being the player creative force & face for Gretsch and being the r&d player for the Filtertron from day one and Gretsch using his input as the basis for every hollow body electric guitar they've made since. Also why doesn't Gretsch just make a Chet Atkins Electromatic? It'd sell.
@@GitShiddy that I do not have the answer for. You would have to ask the powers that be at the company. The original 6120, released in 1954, was based on the 6190/6191 Streamliner model from that period. So Chet, in essence, did not come up with that body style. It was already in the Gretsch line. The 6120 used the Streamliner as a springboard, adding a bridge pickup, Bigsby, Gold hardware and Western ornamentation
@scottwilliams6120 Not entirely sure how I worded it in the video, clearly not well... I'm not good at this. But to clarify, and this is mostly my perspective, Chet was so important to Gretsch especially for the hollowbodies that everything Gretsch hollowbody has at least gone through Chet's opinion. 6120 is Chet's guitar in the same way the DGT is Dave Grissom's but I know in both cases other guitars from the respective brands only exist because of those respective guitarists opinions & recommendations. So even though my 5427TG is not a Chet, it exists because of Chet. Gretsch guitars exist because of Chet arguably. I'm learning on the fly & should probably use a script.
They are great, I don't not love them, can't get on with Gibson electrics though.
Use a capo to keep tension, start wind on tuner then, or place a strip of electrical tape to hold string ends in place, pull off after strings are tensioned
Your bridge is backwards.
@@diederrr Good one.
@ screws toward the pickup
@diederrr Please look up tune-o-matic style bridges. There's multiple designs notably ABR & Nashville style versions based on the various alterations made by Gibson over the early decades of solid body electric guitar building. One of the noteworthy changes is making the saddle adjustment easier to work on by flipping the screw away from the bridge. Many modern guitar brands use this format across their guitars.
8:18 you’re bridge is the wrong direction. Please look it up
It is Just pedal board, like many others, with effects, no big deal. It is not better then the old eventide h9 max
@@cesarvalerio4292 I'm glad you saw the thumbnail and didn't watch the video.
Wow you described my own relationship with my Gretsch better than I could’ve. I have a Brian Setzer 6120. Every once in a while I rediscover it and fall in love with it. But then I don’t use it because my more boring guitars offer better fret access, better tuning stability, and sound more appropriate for the songs we’re doing. But I keep *wanting* to use it because it’s so damn cool.
It's actually a Roger Mayer Octavia... 😉👍
If you look at other archtop style bridges most of them just have a larger area where the channel only lets the string but not the ball end pass through, so with those you need to push it pretty far back for the ball end to exit and enter.
@@za4310 The Revstar tailpiece is not like other archtops. If it was it'd be fine.
@GitShiddy exactly.
That sounds.nice with the reverb! That da filmosound? ..is that a pedal reverb with filmosound? Sounds great!
@@ChrisEbbrsen There's no reverb in the amp. The reverb is coming from the Source Audio Collider which is just a fabulous delay & reverb pedal, way overlooked imo. Also all the gear is listed in the description if curious about other noises.
when I have bridges that allow do that I wrap the string at the tuning post tightly, and carefully enough to have them lay on top of each coil other like normal, then put the ball end at the bridge when I've reached that length needed, then slowly tune, and it always seemed ok.
Why is this so funny?
😂
Goddamn it, Im over here in Twitter hell wondering what happened to you and here you are sharing your brilliance with the rest of the world and you didn’t tell me!? Im hurt! Jk Ive been missing you buddy! This channel is awesome btw! I know jack shit about guitars but I do know id watch you do anything!❤
@@langleymneely Why are you still on Twitter?!!!
@ I’m a glutton for punishment! No seriously though I’m using bluesky way more now.
I've pulled way back on the online... apart from, well, these dumb videos.
@@GitShiddy As usual, you are better than us all on that front! Ive been off line a lot more since finally getting a much needed part time job working with my niece.
@langleymneely That's awesome!
Cool video! Rage Against the machine definitely was my intro to pitch shifting, but my current favorite user of it is the guitarist in Night Verses!
@@nerdebynature Imma have to look into them. Thanks for that.
I have this same guitar and can't help thinking this is a none problem. It never ceases to amaze how guitarists who spend hours working on dexterity are shite at using their fingers for anything else.
You're thinking too much on it kid, grab some 🦆-TAPE, WORKS EVERY TIME😊
What’s your tuning
@@wendigo9282 Open C.
@@GitShiddythanks for the reply, it sounds amazing. I’d love to see more open C stuff.
@@wendigo9282 Anytime you see that guitar on any of my stuff it'll be open C. Just ends up being a perfect combination of being raised on Drop C bands of the 2000s, going back to open E & D stuff from The Stones & Zeppelin, then it's mostly Joey Landreth's influence on my current tastes.
A little wax on the ball end would probably hold them in place while remaining easily removable.
I took mind back something was wrong with it
@@newtonb1426 That sucks if true. Fortunately because these are fairly new, even if it was used, wherever you bought it from should be able to handle that for you.
Anderson’s are an investor in Victory Amp, Chapman Guitars and their own Eastcoast guitars. Makes sense as they are a main retail outlet here in the UK which a massive Online and UA-cam following.
Hi, does this guitar have a lot of noise with P-90s? Thanks!
@@AntonioCavicchioni I mostly don't really notice or care about it. But I also am not at volume or hopping around to different places.
I've recently bought the standard Revstar with p90s. It's by most well-built guitar, and it scratches my itch for something "different." Bottom line: I found a guitar that I like as much as my Strat.
@@IcanhearClemFandango Hell yeah!
This is the first video I've seen where someone complained about the balancing of the pickups in the Pacifica. I think it's just down to the pickup height, the neck and middle pickup looked to be almost flush to the body of the guitar you played.
@@varanzmaj Oh it's definitely that. Maybe a bit of I don't often pickup up HSS guitars as well. But for $1400 CAD, the pick-ups should be setup balanced from factory imo.
@@GitShiddy AFAIK they come set-up out of the factory, however you picked one up in a shop. I've seen great guitars bent out of shape in shops. simply due to poor handling of the shop staff, or at requests of potential buyers. It's very rare I pick up a guitar in a store and just click with it instantly, unless the guitar is set up just the way I like it. Don't knock this guitar because of one experience, as you said Yamaha makes great guitars, and the one you handled probably just needs a good setup.
@@varanzmaj Completely agree. I actually found it incredibly comfortable to play, zero issues with the instrument unplugged.
I've had this guitar in my cart for 1 week now, I still can justify buying an Indonesian Fender, should be branded as Squier and half the price at least.
@@Ruperth316 Where something is made doesn't matter. Every mass produced guitar is well made. The only thing that matters is if you vibe with it. If possible for you go try one.
Good topic, but need more volume. Yeah just getting into Revstar now, but never ever considered Yamaha for a serious guitar before I discovered Revstar.
@@skye7690 Really appreciate the volume critique. I've switched to proper editing software mainly because of the volume limitations. On the same page about Yamaha & the Revstar. I liked Yamaha as a quality start point, but now thanks to Revstar, I like Yamaha no caveats.

@@666kr Eh?
Locking tuners. Pull them tight, lock them. $44 done
@@Glensully The felt I ended up with works perfectly & cost $1. Also where are you you can find locking tuners for $44? The cheap ones in Canada are $90.
@@GitShiddy Guyker 21:1 i got. in black.
I’m looking to buy my first nice guitar and am keyed in on Yamaha. Leaning to the Pacifica, only because I don’t want HH at this time, but it will be a revstar. I can’t find these guitars anywhere to play. What store are you at? Big store or local? Also might go Schecter Nick Johnston. Thanks.
@@kenblevins3611 It's very difficult to find them in stores. Yamaha wasn't expecting Revstar to sell as well as they have. In fact the only reason I got to play one in my store was a clerical error, none of the chain's store were supposed to have stock as mandated by Yamaha. I've managed to play a handful now and the P90 ones have all been fab, the HH I've found a bit underwhelming. On the S-type Pacifica vs Schecter. I have no experience with the Nick Johnston but I dig it aesthetically more than the Pacifica.
Yeah , I found this to be a bit of an annoyance to, seems like it bothered you a lot more than me . Nice guitar btw it looks exactly like mine. Might have to try this, it’s especially annoying on the high strings with the way I knot my unwound strings.
@@jonthehermit8082 Yeah that bit of felt underneath has made it much simpler for me.
Since you're in Canada you should check out Tex amps. He builds amazing Vox/Filmosound style combo's that are light years ahead of other builders of this style of amp.
This is cool but why didn't you get a 179 or 385 model?. Those are much better/easier to convert than this one. I have both of those and they sound incredible, as you mention it I also have a '56 Masco ME-27 identical to Rhett Shull.
@@keiranbradley3238 I got this because it was for sale. That's it. No thought.
Sounds awesome dude, nice sparkle to that clean tone as well 🤘
I bought a used Pacifica years ago, and I still I own it. That let me to try the THR amps, and I still own them. The Revstar is next on my list. Yamaha knows sound - they have for years. I don't give a damn where it's from - good is good....period. My Pacifica gives me no problems like my other guitars like truss rod adjustments when the temperature changes, etc. It's my most reliable guitar, hands down.
You did good! Better than all other brands...... have fun with playing that gem! 😊
Geeze, just think this guitar will end up on the used market, and you wont know about the disater under the tail piece until it's too late.
I assure you I'm not selling this ever. Plus....there's literal video evidence of any work done to it. Which you've just watched. Thanks for watching.
Correct! In Indonesia the RSS20 costs 450 USD!😎
I like Tom, i a big fan of blinks, not sure i should get this guitar or a second hand gibson sg’s with that price point
Best thing you can do is try one if possible. Though I would say that about any guitar purchase.
