Propane Plus Trip to the Terminal pt 1
I’m a new driver. I only have about a month experience driving a tri axle dump truck. I have my class B with tanker endorsement. I am currently working on getting my Hazmat endorsement. But before I go any further, I hope someone here can help answer my questions. Before I apply for my EDLT course and get my hazmat, I want to know a few things. Will propane companies hire a new CDL B driver in his 50’s with no experience? I’m in Philly and I’m looking at Suburban Propane, just outside Philly. How many deliveries on average, does a bulk truck like this do in a day? (during summer and winter?) What is the start and end time? The hours? Do propane companies train you on the job on site or do they send you out someplace? I heard some do that. I have a valid DOT medical card. Can I go to my doctor or do I have to goto theirs? On average, what is the usual starting pay? I know I have a lot of questions but I hope someone can answer them. I really don’t think I’ll be at this dump truck company very long because the hours and pay is very inconsistent. All advice , suggestions, input and help is kindly appreciated. Thank you. Is it MON-FRI?
pretty truck, very clean. suprised he didnt wear at least gloves
Great video keep making great videos
Looks like a pretty easy job
Get a program where kids or all ages on disabilities with autism can go on a ridealong in a propane tank gas trucks the rules needs to be changed and they need to pass a bill insurance to require a ridealong in a propane tank gas truck
Shame
You were not wearing your PPE as it relates to the handling of LPG.
Kaah go forget about it lol 😂 good video
Amen brother. It is a private job. I prefer not to be working in a plant everyday. Just the truck and me. Don't have to be around a bunch of jabronis.
hey, a lefty
Track piping would be my choice. Nice install!
Hey man thx for the video Just wondering if it's hard on the wrist thx
Driver you are doing a good job
Where’s your gloves
Oh wow 👏 nice VIDEOS ....We love to drive too
It all seems nice, show me doing this in a blizzard with temps of well below freezing with 30 / 40 mile per hour winds. It still is very interesting. The more terrible the weather the better.
Mans a professional period
Good vid I start my job in 2weeks it looks like a laid back job!
A good job to have
does propane pay more than fuel hauling?
Sometimes a little pipe dope on the flare seat will get you out of a bind, I've seen some have a very small ding or pit from the lathe that will leak by, but usually a dab of pipe dope will put you back on track.
Dang, I wish we had an electric threader. We still use the old ratchet boy :D
Hola creo que es un buen video pero ers muy poco respetuoso con la seguridad
I pull B-Trains 140,000lbs of Propane in Ontario. There's no ppe worn or ground? 10k gal in the front and 7k gal in the rear trailer or 66000 litres in total. Single pump and with 2 tanks it take an hour 30 mins to offload
Nice video, really enjoyed, lots of work
Damn I wonder how much this guy makes?!
9600 gallon? Is that what he said? If thats the case that 30000 cant hold it. 85%- 55% leaves you with 30% take that 30 and multiply by 1% which gives you 9000 space, 9600 wont fit
9600 gals in a 30k tank will typically take 33% he will end up at 88% which is fine
What’s funny is he is doing an instructional video without any ppe no gloves or eye protection 🤦🏽♂️
How this guy working with propane and not wearing no sort of PPE
Ikr
No need for pipe dope on flare fittings.
I have a question. Large tanker trucks get loaded near my home. Then go about a mile away and release pressure into the woods. Is there a good reason to do something like that? It seems waisted gas to me. I would appreciate a reply from anybody who has knowledge about why they would do this. Tks
Large trucks get loaded by my house. Some of them stop about a mile away and release pressure into the woods. Is there a good reason to do that.? Why would they do it?
makes more room for the liquid
Ground?
Never used one.
How many miles do you drive is what I meant
How far do you drive
Will it auto shut off when its full?
no
Class A or B cdl required?
B
I'm looking getting into propane truck driving...thank you for the video
hey brother, have you made progress since you last commented? Curious to see if you went for it. I just made that decision last week.
Awesome
Yep. If you're going to do a video you better be on your best Edge.
Start driving propane truck tomorrow .only thing i worry about is a 🐕 ....lol.thanks for the video
Lmk it’s been a while but what did you think about the job I’m thinking about the career?
No hose safety?
Why should a house have propane gas when their is natural gas ?
Natural gas is not always available in all areas
Jeffrey, Propane is a superior gas. I'm Hank Hill, Assistant General Manager of Strickland Propane in Arlen Texas
@@hankhill4254 😂
natural gas is only found in urban areas where pipelines have been laid. Propane covers everyone else.
What's the starting pay for those
I keep the pipe dope off the first thread or two so it doesn’t get into the pipe and into a gas control. Then put it on at least 1/2” down. Wipe off excess after pipe is tightened.
Funny where people want the tank hidden.
bien
Incredible!
Not to nit pick, I am a old propane man in Dallas Texas . We awnser to The Texas Rail Road Commision , Wheel Chocks are a Must at all stops . On your Under ground tanks , I do not see a added of vent system , In the event the tanks are cover in water , Also Ice from what your saying , I see a lot of REGO Regulators , I am a Fisher fan My self . I was thinking on the underground tanks They often had a second data plate on a cable to be able to see the type of tank and The Water gallon holding . I no longer work in the field , They choose to pay well below oils and Fuels .Thanks for sharing a good portion of your day ..
Sir I'm a fellow old Texas propane man from Strickland Propane Arlen (Assistant General Manager) and I share your concerns regarding this man's failure to use chocks and his other safety issues.

Considering finding work in this field and this is good info. Thanks for the videos! How did you get permission to do a “ride along”?
Get in touch with the manager at your local propane dealer and see if they're willing to let you ride along.
