Objectively this is a pretty terrible movie. The cuts make it so you never get a sense of what is even happening. None of the face/eyes looking intense cuts serve any purpose other than the serve the editor's fear of having any cut lasting longer than 2 seconds. It's so annoying when movies are editted like this like some kind of amv. In the show when they show the cockpit they are actually going through their shots. Here it's just cringy like "I haven't reminded people that they are LOOKING INTENSE in there for 3 seconds!" It would be cool if you made an edit without all the face shots.
When i watched this movie, it's so nostalgic. Its mid 2000s vibe is so aesthetic. Now it's up to Sung Kang to adapt the new Initial D movie, i hope it will be Manga Accurate and including Eurobeat
I just finished rewatching the entire initial D and yes Kyoichi never raced in Akina. In fact, those battles he had with Takumi and Ryosuke were in his home turf in Usui
Seeing a car sliding with those red hot ceramic brakes just does something to me. I've never felt so enticed by something like downhill calls to me. I know they never really pass each other like this, but every time takumi heel N toes before entering I just feel my soul set fire.
